It’s a short, sharp Stock Check this evening, with just a single match to report on. Shane Long and Darren Bent were the main protagonists as the midlands derby finished all square:

On the Up

Shane Long
The Irishman returned to the West Brom starting line-up, having been dropped for the previous match against former club Reading. His opener means Long has now produced attacking returns in four of the first six Gameweeks for the Baggies.

James Morrison
Subbed off just after the hour mark last week with a leg problem, the Scot recovered in time to start this afternoon’s match. Morrison’s creativity came to the fore once more for the visitors – his assist for Long’s goal was his first attacking returns since Gameweek 2.

Darren Bent
Dropped for the first time this season, he was all set for a place in “Going Down”. Bent’s equaliser served a reminder to Paul Lambert that he can ill-afford to do without his services up top – he has now produced attacking returns in the last three Gameweeks.

Ciaran Clark
Handed a place on the Scout Picks bench, the Villa centre-half vindicated our decision by providing the assist for Bent’s strike. Clark’s attacking threat from the back is always liable to pick up the points – while his side have just one clean sheet all season, he has now returned a goal and assist for his Fantasy owners thus far.

Going Down

Romelu Lukaku
Despite scoring in his first start of the season last weekend, the Belgian was dropped to the bench as Steve Clarke opted for Long as the lone striker. Handed the role of impact sub once again, he almost won the game at the death but his chances of a regular role at the Hawthorns are looking less likely as the games go by.

Barry Bannan
He had started the last four and produced two assists prior to today’s match but Marc Albrighton’s return from injury looks bad news for Bannan. Dropped to the bench, the Scot was afforded just 20 minutes as Lambert freshened up his midfield options.

Gareth McAuley
With Liam Ridgewell already ruled out for this afternoon’s game, Steve Clarke will be concerned after the centre-half picked up a knock towards the end. The Baggies had used all their subs by this point, so McAuley stayed on the pitch – it might be nothing to worry about but with the commentators pointing out he was “struggling”, McAuley’s Fantasy owners will be keen to hear an official prognosis from the club.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Evening all, not a good week for myself…just after some opinions…

Gk and defence I have no issues with.

    Front 8:

    Hazard Cazorla Yaya Pienaar Guthrie

    Berba RVP Lambert.

1.1m in the bank and 1FT…

    Considering the following:

Guthrie -> Sterling – and play 5mid and 2 strikers next week, keeping Berba until his return.
    Berba -> Ba
Hazard/Guthrie -> Bale/Morrison or Sterling – it’d be a 4point hit but Bale seems to be on form and it’d give me a decent 5 across midfield.

    Cheers

imho, keep guthrie, get ba asap.

i had bale for the 1st 3 GWs, and then hazard for the next 3. totally dissapointing and regrettable move. guess i'm no position to talk about the bale-hazard debate.

No point in changing hazard for bale as they both will be likely to produce around the same amount of points, but if your bringing in bale and keeping hazard, then it's certainly worth the hit. as they both will be good in the long term.

DARREN BENT YOU BEAUTIFUL MAN. Thank you for ruining the Foster CS

Was bigging him up at the start of the season, only to go off him as Villa struggled. But 2 goals and an assist in his last 3 hint that he may be returning to form. Only 8.2 now as well.

sorry mate, but main rival has Foster. Having closed the gap on him I needed Foster not to get a CS to keep it going. Plus given i'm getting him in this week his lack of a CS should hopefully slow down any price rise.

RvP to Bent frees up so much cash.

Yes, I also hate posts such as the one I'm about to write but I've been debating whether to wildcard and am seriously stumped.

    Jussi; Begovic
    Demel; Cuellar; Jagielka; Hughes; Clyne
    Cazorla; Hazard; HBA; Michu;
    Suarez; Defoe; RVP

I have a potential WC team that looks pretty attractive, but wondering whether I should just wait till the International Break to WC as might be much more benefitial.

    Thoughts?

I'd b quite happy if no Baps ever cane out for this GW; pretty sure it'll be my second week running without a single bap!

    Current Team:

    Begovic Foster
A Cole, Baines, Gibbs, Nelsen, Demel
Cazorla, Fellaini, Ben Arfa, Michu, Kacaniklic
    RVP, Ba, Fletcher

What changes should I make for next week?

    Possible options I was thinking...

RVP -> Suarez OR A Cole -> Ridgewell

    and then,

    Ben Arfa -> Bale,

    Thoughts please? 😀

do not buy Suarez you will regret it and also do not sell HBA the money from RVP could buy Jelavic and then you could upgrade Michu or Kacaniclic for Bale

Yeah, that's what I thought. Just really frustrated with getting my captain and vice captain the wrong way round.

    The kneejerk dilemma.

Pre-season when chatting with my big rival, we both agreed the only player that was essential to us was Bale.

Then Spurs started badly and we both jumped ship.

The following week he delivered, and then again, and then again.

I have one chance now to get him back, but are either of these wise?

    OUT
    Fellaini, Maloney

    IN
    Bale, 4.3m MID squad filler.

or less likely to be possible

    OUT
    Cuellar, Fellani

    IN
Bale, 3.8m def if it happens in next two days
