It’s a short, sharp Stock Check this evening, with just a single match to report on. Shane Long and Darren Bent were the main protagonists as the midlands derby finished all square:

On the Up

Shane Long
The Irishman returned to the West Brom starting line-up, having been dropped for the previous match against former club Reading. His opener means Long has now produced attacking returns in four of the first six Gameweeks for the Baggies.

James Morrison
Subbed off just after the hour mark last week with a leg problem, the Scot recovered in time to start this afternoon’s match. Morrison’s creativity came to the fore once more for the visitors – his assist for Long’s goal was his first attacking returns since Gameweek 2.

Darren Bent
Dropped for the first time this season, he was all set for a place in “Going Down”. Bent’s equaliser served a reminder to Paul Lambert that he can ill-afford to do without his services up top – he has now produced attacking returns in the last three Gameweeks.

Ciaran Clark
Handed a place on the Scout Picks bench, the Villa centre-half vindicated our decision by providing the assist for Bent’s strike. Clark’s attacking threat from the back is always liable to pick up the points – while his side have just one clean sheet all season, he has now returned a goal and assist for his Fantasy owners thus far.

Going Down

Romelu Lukaku
Despite scoring in his first start of the season last weekend, the Belgian was dropped to the bench as Steve Clarke opted for Long as the lone striker. Handed the role of impact sub once again, he almost won the game at the death but his chances of a regular role at the Hawthorns are looking less likely as the games go by.

Barry Bannan
He had started the last four and produced two assists prior to today’s match but Marc Albrighton’s return from injury looks bad news for Bannan. Dropped to the bench, the Scot was afforded just 20 minutes as Lambert freshened up his midfield options.

Gareth McAuley
With Liam Ridgewell already ruled out for this afternoon’s game, Steve Clarke will be concerned after the centre-half picked up a knock towards the end. The Baggies had used all their subs by this point, so McAuley stayed on the pitch – it might be nothing to worry about but with the commentators pointing out he was “struggling”, McAuley’s Fantasy owners will be keen to hear an official prognosis from the club.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

When discussing Ba it's important to remember that fixtures go out of the window. He can score against any team when on form (which he definitely is). Possible C for me next week, depends if I can learnt to trust Hazard again or not

true, but Hazards went after the int break. maybe that had something to do with it? i don't think an in form ba would lose it in one week when playing at home to united. would you C hazard or ba or rvp if they were your only real options?

I got bottom paged, so sorry for repeating my ask.

    The kneejerk dilemma.

Pre-season when chatting with my big rival, we both agreed the only player that was essential to us was Bale.

Then Spurs started badly and we both jumped ship.

The following week he delivered, and then again, and then again.

I have one chance now to get him back, but are either of these wise?

    OUT
    Fellaini, Maloney

    IN
    Bale, 4.3m MID squad filler.

or less likely to be possible

    OUT
    Cuellar, Fellani

    IN
Bale, 3.8m def if it happens in next two days

I'm selling one of he or Tevez this week. Since my preferred budget options: Berbs and Lukaku are injury and rotation doubts, I think I might do it now so I have some funds to fix my defense. Which I will promptly spend on Glen Johnson. Or as the kids are saying these days, I'll promptly throw it in the fire.

      Foster – (Federici),
      Baines – Demel – McAuley – (Clyne – Cuellar),
      Hazard – Yaya – Michu – Pienaar – Guthrie,
      RVP – Tevez – (Berba). (£0.1m bank)

As you can see, with Guthrie dropped I only have 10 players for next week. So what should I do?:

      A) Berba -> Lambert to field XI
      B) Tevez -> Ba, Berba -> Lambert for -4
      C) Tevez -> Ba, Yaya -> Bale -4 and hope Guthrie will be recalled
      D) Wildcard.

Berba should be priority. You wont know how long Guthrie is dropped for, assume he is out.
Clyne will play so you cant get a full XI.

I have 2xFT and this is my team:
          Foster
          Cole Rangel Zabaleta
          Hazard, Toure McClean, Maloney
          Fletcher Tevez RVP
          Subs: Federichi, Noble, Hangeland, Cuellar
          0M in the bank
          I’m considering:
          a)RVP->Suarez and Yaya to Bale
b)Zaba->Demel (or another cheapie) and Yaya to Bale
          c) Tevez->Jelly/Ba and Yaya to Bale
d)Tevez -> Suarez and Zaba->Demel (or another cheapie)

try using the enter key sometimes.
it really helps us to filter out the information.
otherwise it remains a messy blur of words.
and then no-one will be bothered to read it all.

I was thinking yesterday, when Nani scored that goal...he ran back to the halfway line really quick to put the ball on the spot. But then Spurs scored like 30 seconds later. Is this really a good idea when it's the 50th minute and it only gives the other team a chance to kick off quickly before you're extremely distracted and disorganised.

It's ok if it was the 90th minute...but there was no need to rush.

So in conclusion, Nani cost Man Utd the game yesterday.

Totally disagree. A side like United should be able to keep calm in those situations. United still had a game to chase, it made sense. Did you watch Rio Ferdinand yesterday? He was culpable for at least 2 goals.
