In a season where the attacking exploits of a number of defenders have been quick to catch the collective eye, John Arne Riise has remained firmly under the Fantasy radar. Already, we’ve witnessed the unlikely scenario where defenders have returned the highest Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points haul in five of the opening seven Gameweeks, with Branislav Ivanovic and Leighton Baines vindicating those who opted for big-money investment at the back:

The Fulham full-back has also impressed going forward. So far, a total of three assists is higher than any other defender, with Riise’s left-flank forays thriving in a team full of attacking menace under Martin Jol. Indeed, only Man United have found the net more times than the Cottagers, with a total of 15 goals on par with the likes of City and Chelsea.

With two clean sheets and a couple of assists in his opening three home games, Riise has so far averaged over seven FPL points per appearance at Craven Cottage as Fulham continue the strong home form produced under Jol last time round. On the road, though, while they have conceded two or more goals in three of their four fixtures, an upturn in attacking intent hints at a cause for optimism – already, they have scored half the number of away goals as they managed last season.

Picking up points at both ends of the pitch, Riise is second only to Damien Duff for points accrued for Fulham this season and he now is faced with an enticing schedule that could well bring him under scrutiny. The Norwegian has three home fixtures in the next five (AVL, EVE, RDG) and also faces a Gameweek 9 trip to a Reading side that have no wins and three points from their opening six fixtures.

Priced at 5.5 in FPL and 6.2 in the Sky Sports game, Riise is the most expensive option amongst Jol’s defence but his displays to date have justified those respective price tags. The left-back should not only comfortably surpass his total of five assist last time round but looks capable of bettering it over the next few Gameweeks, if he can continues in his current rich vein of form.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

With Senegal being eliminated today, Ba will not be leaving for the African Cup of Nations in January. Gervinho and Yaya Toure will, however.

As posted below...my two sons are mking teams for the next game week to be in a mini league with me...My eldest son knows nowt...so he's gone for all the Belgians (10) plus five other players...nice and easy...My middle son has decided he's Roy Hodgson and has made a team called "three lions" using only English players...which he has until next Saturday morning to finalise....What would your "three lions" FPL be ?...

Good solid team all round but it seems more for the long term. I suppose wildcard teams should be designed around long term potential but it's a rare week that a transfer isn't made. For example Newcastle and Stoke are teams in form with great fixtures upcoming.

Possibly, but he ain't even in the same PL striker planet as Bad. I'll go with my original judgement of Giroud, fairly limited, despite what he did last GW. He can improve but not sure how much. Gunners supposed to be scouting Llorente.

i think you could get away with leaving fletch in one more week these north east derby's are full of goals plus its berbs first game back from injury so you never know how he is going to play!

Hehe, yeah I decided not to correct you on this...but Derbies still can be high scoring despite the consistent 1-1/2-1's of the last while!

Either way I'm being optimistic but I still think the Fletch > Berbs is not necessarily a good move.

This is my thinking too...I have Fletch but the Berba move seems sideways considering they both have a decent chance of scoring at home. Berbs could get a hattrick and I'll have egg on my face but like you said...first game back from injury...hardly seems the time for him to explode does it...

Saying that he was VERY close to playing then last minute told Jol he didn't want to take the risk, and now he has had another full week's recovery due to not being with Bulgaria, and Fletcher will have played 2 games for Scotland.

Swings and roundabouts? Tough one though isn't it?

They are both good thoughts and would give you 2FTs the following game. Where you might want to start shifting WHU players out, or your dead defender.

I think im gonna do the Fletcher > Berbatov transfer this gw.

I think Berba will start and has the easier game.
If I don't take Fletcher out this gw i'm only going to have to take him out next GW anyway as I am doing Federici > Begovic and there is a clash (Stoke v Sunderland) so my 'saved transfer' is only going to be used taking Fletcher out anyway tbh.
As for Stam, I will look to take him out when I can actually bring someone in who can replace my 3 first choice defenders, it doesn't look likely next GW but will happen eventually.
                  Cheers

I'm just a little reluctant to get rid of Fletch because

                A) he is on great form
                B) he has a home game
                C) I've made money out of him and that could get higher if he scores again this weekend
                D) If he continues his goalscoring, 7.1m (what I bought him for) is very good value

Berbs will be fantastic value but I think I may wait to jump on the bangwagon...

                  Haha touche sir 😉

Nah your points are definately valid, he seems to score whenever he gets a chance. But if Berbatov is back I want him for Villa, and that will edge it for me I think.

Anyways, look forward to seeing you around again next week in the run up to saturday, where i'm sure we'll bump into each other and talk about the same thing again 😉

That sounds a decent move. See how Suarez does against Reading and decide if he's worth it. At 9.5 he's very steep but with his hattrick he showed his worth...but I feel he might continue to frustrate owners.

    Gentleman,

Just noticed no Michu in most of the RMT on this site.

    Please suggest for 3 moves ( gw8 +9). (2FT: 0.2 mil bank)

    Foster, Begovic

    Rafael, Hangelan, Demel (Staylor, Clyne)

    Nolan, Michu, Hazard, Santi, Pienaar

    RVP, Suarez ( Graham )

That's the beauty of rugby even if you don't agree. The ref will see two lads niggling each other and later one taking matters into his own hands. The ref can ignore it knowing the other player deserved his comeuppance. Something similar was The Lions 99 call, the stuff of legend.

Hey guys, which one would you prefer?

    A) Fletcher, Bale, G. Johnson

I have Fletcher, Bale, and Gibbs at the moment, so they'd make way.

I'd leave Tevez for this week and just do Fellaini before he loses you any more net value.
Otherwise your team looks pretty solid to me.

He'll mostly start the next game!
But i fear his goal threat has reduced significantly after Kun's comeback.

I have Tevez and don't fancy getting rid. But Mancini seems to use him to exhaust the opposition defence for an hour then send on his other strikers to capitalise on it.
I'll stick with him though atm.

Could I get some help to get an idea of time zone differences between my home in NZ and the UK.
When does daylight saving end in the UK? (I know its like 4am but if anyone is still up?)

I asked the same thing a couple of weeks ago. Apparently their's changes on the 28th, and then you'll be 13 hours in front I think.

I prefer Rafael this year, just not sure his place is assured.

I'd hold off on Michu until this Swansea Unrest story is sorted out, their fixtures turn sour about now anyway.

      What's the alternate league P&P?

        Sorry for delayed response!

Alternate league is a budget league of no player greater than 7.5m.

Initially it was only transferring in players from the bottom 4, but our teams became too similar so we changed the rules.

Evra it is, and Michu > Morrison, but maybe next week

Yes with a caveat emptor on Evra. I'm not convinced he'll hold his place if he keeps being very average.

you don't need to add tevez -> berba in both options, they're the exact same. so it's just michu or hba -> cazorla. if you have ba, then b.

A but after this week. Tevez should start and Michu has a good fixture. I'd keep Barfa for Newcastles run of kind fixtures.

      Morning El Nino, Long time.

I'd swap one of Davies or Demel as their fxtures turn sour soon and you don't want to lose a transfer.

Then just loose your dogs of war upon the battlefield and mop up the points to crush your enemies H2H.

      Get rid of Guthrie perhaps?

Your team doesn't look like he needs much changing for this week. Although I might be inclined to play Mignolet over Foster but I see why you're playing Foster when you have Ba.

Guthrie is a fair option MU, but he is an easy bench option for the front eight, avoiding any tricky decisions.

Your thoughts about gervinio for the next two super tasty games (nor away, QPR home)?
Is it worth doing fellaini to him for a hit? (Friends team)
Is it worth doing hazard to him for free (my team) or better bring in silva?
