Controversy is typically saved for the final fixtures of a major tournament’s qualifying rounds, but as England’s exploits in both Serbia and Poland have left an indignant taste for many, the return of the Premier League cannot come soon enough. It’s been a fortnight of frustration but can we now find an edge to help us pick our punts in Paddy Power’s special markets? Read on to find out in this week’s Fantasy Flutter…

Liverpool may well be enjoying the spotlight either side of the pond with their light-hearted documentary donning network prime-time, but the grim reality show – featuring six points in seven games – shows a club more likely to get canned than win a BAFTA. Rarely out of the news, Luis Suarez has to grab the goals for Brendan Rodgers’ outfit if they are to emerge from the doldrums; the Uruguayan has at least been in decent form of late, netting once over the international break in addition to racking up five so far domestically. Paddy have Suarez at 2/1 to find the net and for Liverpool to hold out for a clean-sheet against Reading. That might not seem much of a steal but with the Merseysiders’ last two home defeats coming from Man United and Arsenal, there might well be a bit of value to it. We’ll take £5 at the 2’s and pen this in as our banker.

Dimitar Berbatov hasn’t featured on the international scene for a couple of years, giving him a chance to rest up over these fortnight breaks and ready himself for domestic duty. He might still be a bit leggy from his thigh injury when Fulham take on Villa at Craven Cottage on Saturday, but with a pair of goals and an assist in two and a half games so far this term, he’s already made an impact at the Cottage. Paddy are pricing Berbatov up at 5/1 for a goal and a Fulham cleanie at home to Villa and that looks well worth £2 of our money.

West Ham have made a very decent impression on the top flight after gaining a leg-up from the Championship. Sitting in eighth place and with 11 points on the board, their start has been encouraging, and with Andy Carroll barging his way back to fitness, we’re expecting more goals from Big Sam’s lineup. Kevin Nolan’s experience has helped guide them through some tough early fixtures, and he’ll be in and about the box to poach another as Southampton make the trip up to East London. Paddy are offering 6/1 on a Nolan goal and a clean-sheet for West Ham, reflecting both the Hammers’ recent successes and Southampton’s failings. Even though it’s a fair return, we’re only gonna take a quid on this one.

Our last £2 is tentatively riding on a tempting treble which backs a Berbatov goal, a Santi Cazorla assist at Carrow Road and a Man United clean sheet against visiting Stoke. This is a very decent 16/1 treble, featuring form and statistical favour; we’ve struggled getting these ones over the line in recent weeks, so the time is right for us to pick one up.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Really good team but perhaps not the best for this particular gameweek! Since you have to use or lose a FT I'd look at maybe Torres or Hazard out and maybe look to get some Man City players in. Alternatively upgrade Guthrie if you have the cash.

If I had Ivanovic there's no way I'd get rid of him - I know it's not fashionable about these parts but Torres to Tevez looks a good move to me.

*Bottom of last page - sorry for repost*

Lads, I need a win in my mini league this week. Disregarding coming fixtures etc I’m gonna bring in Berbatov, but the question is, for who? Currently have Tevez, Lambert Aguero.

Due to internationals, I thinking I do Aguero > Berba

    Best move for this week?

I'd rather ditch Tevez even if he plays more minutes this week - it isn't a great fixture for City, can see one goal, and Tevez hasn't been scoring anyway. Long term, I definitely prefer Aguero.

If you can afford Lambert -> Berb though, that might be tempting, and you can deal with Tevez later.

This is my team, there are many like it, but this one is mine. 🙂

It's been a while since I last asked so I'd appreciate any views or ideas on how I might improve it over the coming weeks.

    Jaask,
    Baines, Rafael, Boyce,
    Morrison, Mata, Cazorla, Michu,
    Tevez, Fletcher, RVP

    Begovic, Maloney, Demel, Gorkss.

No FT left this week and 0 in the bank.

    Thanks!

Actually I'd do Hazard to Cazorla (I did that move yesterday).

Hazard's returns have all come against powder puff teams. Look at his next 6 games and then look at Arsenal's next 6 games.

Logic suggests Cazorla should easily outscore him in that sequence of games and he could well have overtaken him in the overall rankings by the end of that spell. Also likely Cazorla will increase in value steadily over that run whilst Hazard's may drop.

I feel Citeh will tighten at the back as well so a Citeh def is also an option.

anyone here with any computer knowledge? if you wanted to enhance the performance of a computer, would a 3.2 cpu -> 3.4 cpu have a greater effect, or 2 gb of ram -> 4 gb?

Both would except in different areas. RAM is a temporary area for you to store files, which gets wiped after shutdowns etc. It's like a temporary warehouse that you rent to store stock. If the temporary warehouse is full it makes navigating through it and picking out the stock you want more difficult.

The processor is what makes your PC faster in operation.

If I were to use an analogy it would be like this:

If you wanted to transport 7 people with a four seater car you could speed it up in different ways.
      1) you could get a faster car (i.e. processor)
      2) you could get a 7 seater car and just do it one go

that was a very good analogy, thank you for that. but if you were given the choice between enhancing your cpu from 3.2 to 3.4 or ram from 2 gb to 4, which would you rather take?

i'd reason it this way - You own Sterling and he is home to Reading, if he isint playing this fixture he is never getting in the starting 11, might as well transfer him out.

I don't get that logic. Play the best according to the fixtures each week. Sterling is good cover for the price regardless.

        I'd play Sterling though anyway.

Sterling - definitely. Don't get these comments about HAVING to play him just cos he's got a good fixture.......he's purely there for insurance and should be used accordingly.
If he were fit, the same logic would also apply to Demel vs someone like Ivanovic or Vertonghen - play the percentages mate !

Both look better options this week but it's a toss up down the gameweeks. Tevez has slightly better fixtures but off form. Nolan is better this week but fixtures pretty even after that. If you need a captain maybe go for Suarez. For Nolan and Morrison - who do you rate?

So Krul, Coloccini and Saylor back, suddenly Newcastle's defence as well as their attack is coming together for their decent run of fixtures to Christmas.

What will you gents be going for?

I currently have Ba. But thinking 1 or 2 defenders/keeper as soon as they look to be back to solid best.

I'm hanging onto Yaya and Tevez as the most guaranteed players for the Champions about to face a great run of fixtures.
