Last time out our selections went wide of the post and left us contemplating a hat-trick of narrow misses. That leaves us delving back into the piggy bank to fumble around for another ten-sheet to stake this week’s Fantasy Flutter.

Fulham and Liverpool both held up their end of the bargain by keeping a cleanie, but their hitmen Luis Suarez and Dimitar Berbatov failed to make their mark at the other end. Kevin Nolan poached the goal we needed, but 15 minutes later, Adam Lallana struck a belter into the roof of the net to send us home out of pocket.

To stay in the black, and keep the Flutter positive, we’ll need a winner this outing, and we’ve some fine Scout Picks to choose from.

Santi Cazorla failed to make an impact with his sharp movement and quick feet as Norwich edged to a 1-0 win over the Gunners last weekend. With a midweek Champions League defeat adding to the suffering, surely Arsene Wenger’s men can’t slip to a third setback when bottom club QPR visit the Emirates on Saturday? Paddy are tempting us with odds of 4/1 on a Santi goal with a Gunners clean sheet and we’ll go with that for £2 of our money.

Stoke have been grinding out the draws this season, with five in eight games, preventing them from making an impression on the top half of the table. They’ll be glad of the points on the board with matches against the likes of Chelsea, United and City now behind them, and they’ll surely be confident ahead of a kinder run of fixtures given that their point man Peter Crouch is in bloom. Stoke take on visiting Sunderland, who under Martin O’Neill are always a tough prospect, but Paddy’s 11/2 on Crouch to score and Stoke to make their fourth cleanie of the season is decent value for £4.

Our final market rests on a team on the brink of mutiny, if you believe the some of the recent press. Roberto Mancini might be seeing the dressing room slip away after a scathing Champions League defeat to Ajax in midweek, but that doesn’t change the fact that City remain a strong prospect this weekend at home to Swansea. Aleksandar Kolarov seems likely to earn another start having been rested to the bench in the Dutch defeat and his goal and two assists against Sunderland are still fresh in our minds. Installed in the Scout Picks, the Serbian is worth a quid to score and help the City back line keep it clean as Paddy dangle odds of 6/1.

With £3 left from our tenner, we turn to the high-risk big-reward treble to see if we can’t bag a decent return. Paddy are offering 13/1 on Newcastle’s in-form striker Demba Ba to score, Chelsea’s man of the moment Juan Mata to add to his impressive assist tally and Man City to stop the likes of Michu and Wyane Routledge from making a mark and keep a clean-sheet. We’ll back Mancini to get the dressing back onside and earn a solid home win and, with Ba and Mata on fire – this one looks favourable enough.

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Out of these three, who would you captain? Also, you know your opponent in your mini league will retain the captaincy on RVP and you're trailing 10 points from the top. Would you go with the safer option RVP (as my opponent has him captained), or Ba or Cazorla?

    (1) Santi Cazorla
    (2) Demba Ba
    (3) Robin van Persie

Well for starters, I did not even know the stat 😛

And out of those 3, Ba seems the most obvious choice. Santi is not captain material for me yet. And although people on here underrate West Brom, I think its gonna be a close game. And with the kind of form Ba is in, I'd fancy him to nick one

Nope, don't focus on values. The top guys usually have average team value increases. A lot of values jump up because people are chasing points.

Watch the games, pick the guys that look good... (maybe scored, but maybe didn't).

8 Starters match mine, and the other three are Ivan/Mata/Ba vs Huth/Bale/Suarez

Seems a good team. I am captaining Aguero though, Bale is too frustrating. I figure they are both capable of huge point hauls, but Bale is more likely to drop a bunch of 2's, where as Aguero seems to grab 4-6 more often between big hauls.

Im thinking that Guthrie will get 2 pts, Nolan has a good chance of being in amongst the goals at Wigan so is more likely to get higher than 2.

I would be looking to bring back in Pienaar, after this week.. or even Fellaini (injury pending)

This suspension ruined all my original plans for transfers this week and next. Not a fan of too many points hits though... its tight at the top of my mini leagues right now.

    Morning all

Thought about sharing this with the community last week - didn't (and then wished I had) cos for the 4TH WEEK RUNNING (using a new system) ALL SELECTIONS on my both teams to score bet came in. Without further ado then, today's are :

    Fulham v Reading
    Leeds v Birmingham
    Carlisle v Bournemouth
    Burton Albion v Bradford
    (4 x trebles ; 1 x 4-fold = pays about 4/1 if all correct ; money back if 1 lets you down)

Have probably just jinxed it......and you won't hear another word from me if I have !

    Arsenal vs QPR
    • The last time that QPR won at Arsenal (3-1 on 31 December 1994) was also the day that John Jensen scored his only goal for the Gunners.
    • Mark Hughes has lost all five of his matches at Arsenal as a manager.
    • Arsenal have been awarded more corners (64) than any other side in the top flight.
    • QPR have gone 20 Premier League games away from home without managing to keep a clean sheet.
    • Arsenal have conceded 83% of their goals in the first half of matches, the highest ratio in the division.

Newcastle Utd vs West Brom Albion
    • The last nine matches between these sides in all competitions have seen 40 goals scored and no clean sheets for either team.
    • James Morrison has scored Albion's earliest (4min 53sec) and latest (90min 21sec) league goals this season.
    • Demba Ba has scored four goals in three Premier League appearances against Albion.
    • Albion have blocked 44 shots this season, more than any other team's defence.
    • Papiss Cissé scored 13 goals in his first 13 league games but has failed to score in nine subsequent appearances.

Taking a punt this week. Not too happy with my team balance (keeper vs striker for example... didn't plan that one well), but I think I could end up decent.

    Begovic
    Rafael, Hangeland, Cuellar
Michu, Cazorla, Hazard, Pienaar, Ben Arfa
    Berbatov, Fletcher

    Bench: Foster, Rangel, Clyne, Torress

    Crazy?

I don't have him, but if I did I would wait and see if he plays the striker roll again. In fact, if he does, he will be in my team very soon.

Really though Nasri is the short term choice, Michu is the long term choice.
