Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the seventh instalment of the open-to-all, free-to-enter Paddy Power Cup competition.

Organised and run by contributors “Akers” and “Superior Being”, this is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster and reigning champion Mch – in our hall of fame. For full details on how to enter, when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

We’re changing the format of our cup tournaments this season – instead of three cup competitions that overlap, we’ll be running this first Paddy Power Cup, the Members Cup and then a first Fantasy Football Scout Shield. This final tournament will take place over the final four Gameweeks of the season and includes just 16 teams – the Quarter-Finalists from both the Paddy Power and the Members Cup. There’s therefore extra incentive to enter and do well in our first two tournaments.

Read on for details on the Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a veteran, you can go straight here to make your entry.

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 10 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 5 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1018 (plus 6 previous winners who earn a bye) with the top scores in Gameweek 10 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 11. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 6

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 10
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 11
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 18
  • Gameweek 19 – Break
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 20
  • Gameweek 21 – Break
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 22
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 23

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s Members Cup. Should any team qualify for the Shield from both Cup tournaments, then the highest scoring losing team from the last sixteen of either cup will gain entry to complete the FFS Shield entries.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

        Nolan/Wilson->Mata/Nelsen

        0.0m in bank

Not keen on 3rd hit of the season though...Plan is to give Michu one more go vs South next week and then make a call depending on ba fitness.

Could Bring Silva to go with Mata/Bale/Santi or tevez in for Ba and bring Mcanuff/Sterling for 5.5m milf.

Is RVP mandatory this week? Got 2FT..

Can bring him in for free this week,

Or bring in Mata+Jelly for Haz+Berba

and get RVP+McAnuff next week for a hit(Tevez+Santi)

No he isn't you can wait a week with him for sure. I know its unlikely but there is still a possibility his heart won't be in it when playing his former club. Similar to how in the past Rooney hasn't played against Everton.

Not posted one of these before... started really well this season but have been dropping in my mini league and generally. Took an 8 pt hit last week, which was kind of stupid but in the end made sense.

Going in to next week with:

    Foster
    Baines Huth Vertonghen (Fonte, Gorrks)
    Hazard Michu Cazorla Mata (Sterling)
    Crouch Jelavic Tevez

Should I drop Michu > Sterling?

Any changes I should look to make?

    Federici Friedel
Clichy Demel(Injured) Nelsen Rafael Jenkinson(Sagna Back)
    Hazard Cazorla Routledge Nolan Noble
    RVP Ba(possibly out) Tevez
1FT and 0.5 in the bank.

    Considering Jenkinson out for Cuellar/Simpson/Cameron

Suggestions for best defender for ≤ 4.5 please lads
    1. Baird ??
Will he start next GW? He plays OOP, but, wasn't he injured last week after his goal celebration?
    2. Cameron/Wilkinson??
Three home games in the next 5 GW's & relatively easy fixtures. I already have Begovic, So, not sure if doubling up is a good idea
    3.Wisdom
Pool defender for 4.5 is definitely a bargain right? Not sure if he's nailed on tho
    4.Williamson/Perch
Well, Taylor is back now, So, i aint sure if Pardew will stick with Williamson & Perch will struggle to get into the first XI once Tiote's back
    5.Cuellar
A sure starter, offering a place in the Sunderland's starting XI which has already racked three CS's

Or, are there any other decent alternatives? Cheers

Was unsure over Wisdom so went for Cuellar. I wouldn't double up on any defence at the moment but you have overlooked Hughes - he might be 4.6 now but I think he represents the best value in that category, with Fulham doing well so far

Luckily Wilson broke his ankle, Demel and Kaca are still no shows.

That and Rvp kept on scoring.

Sometimes doing nothing for a week solves some problems due to others popping up.

Ba owners, what are you doing about him? Hands bit itchy trying to see the problem in the team. If Ba declares unfit for the Liverpool game, then I might do Ba > Defoe. My priority is to get Bale in so I could easily take a point hit now Yaya > Bale. If Ba doesn't start, I might have to start either an injured Clark or Guthrie, and I so hope that's not the case.

On the basis of Pardew having a couple of attacking options and the fact that they tend to wrap him up in cotton wool because hes the pinnacle of Newcastle Id be surprised if he plays this weekend. Defoe could be a good shout although I wouldnt be too fussed at getting Bale in imo. His home form isnt that great for some reason.

That one could come back to bite you.

I am currently on Lambert. WBA have kept 3 clean sheets out of 5, Lambert is often benched when they are away. Besides, Sterling has showed good form and is at home whereas Michu is OOP.

For me, Pienaar is the only real option (to Lambert).
