Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the seventh instalment of the open-to-all, free-to-enter Paddy Power Cup competition.

Organised and run by contributors “Akers” and “Superior Being”, this is your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints, sleepingmaster and reigning champion Mch – in our hall of fame. For full details on how to enter, when it starts and the prizes on offer, read on…

We’re changing the format of our cup tournaments this season – instead of three cup competitions that overlap, we’ll be running this first Paddy Power Cup, the Members Cup and then a first Fantasy Football Scout Shield. This final tournament will take place over the final four Gameweeks of the season and includes just 16 teams – the Quarter-Finalists from both the Paddy Power and the Members Cup. There’s therefore extra incentive to enter and do well in our first two tournaments.

Read on for details on the Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a veteran, you can go straight here to make your entry.

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

When does it start?

The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 10 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before Monday November 5 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1018 (plus 6 previous winners who earn a bye) with the top scores in Gameweek 10 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 11. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 6

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 10
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 11
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 18
  • Gameweek 19 – Break
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 20
  • Gameweek 21 – Break
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 22
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 23

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s Members Cup. Should any team qualify for the Shield from both Cup tournaments, then the highest scoring losing team from the last sixteen of either cup will gain entry to complete the FFS Shield entries.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hey folks

I have 1 FT and £0.4m in the bank.

    Foster, Begovic

    Baines, Davies, Demel, Cuellar, Gorkks

    Nolan, Cazorla, Michu, Bale, Guthrie

    Ba, RVP, Aguero

Thinking of taking out Cazorla and Guthrie so if Ba doesn't play this week I have a decent sub.

    Who to bring in though?
    Valencia or Fellaini?
    And
    Sterling or Maloney?

    Thank you

Is Berbatov actually at risk of not playing this weekend, he seemed fine on the weekend - is this just one of those "Fantasy Football Scout Injuries" where it just gets blown out of proportion based on rumours and random peoples opinions?

Suspected broken rib. He had pain ejections at half time. Will he get an injection every day at training? Plenty of other strikers at Fulham who are on form why risk Berba?

b for me. Begovic to start most weeks, and Rafael is a big uptick on Simpson imo. Demel vs McCartney - both on the bench most weeks, and much of a muchness. Also gives WHU coverage so no need for Jussi.

Not worth it imo. You already have RVP and Aguero has 3 decent fixtures. Also, Rooney is playing fairly deep when the play 4-4-2, which he may stick to given the result at the w/e.

Hazard -> Mata is a bit sideways too imo - Hazard still looking very dangerous and I expect him to score big soon.

Mata is cheaper though, and in better form.

I think its a worthwhile move. Money is scarce, every bit counts, and 0.6 saved for a better player (Mata is every bit as attacking as Hazard, and has corners and free kicks) is well worth it imo.

It has funded my (planned) purchase of Demba Ba 🙂

TW this is the exact transfer I'm thinking of. Either him or Bale. A lot of people are going down the generic Mata Bale Caz route but I think that's overkill. I want Valencia this week (up against Andre Santos at LB?) but it would be for an 8pt hit coz I took a 4pt hit to get in Mata. But he has back to back assists now and looks like he is hitting his stride. And a bargain at 8.6

i wouldn't ship bale if that's what you mean. yeahh lots of people are. I may be missing out on mata points but i still feel his returns will drop during this tough run for chelsea. i've currently got hba bale and caz (with 1.3 in the bank) as well as pienaar and michu for my mids. not sure if cazorla is worth keeping for now. valencia is a more direct player than him and united have better fixtures. good point! that's very tempting

ahh i gotcha :P. that's kind of a lot. but if you think valencia is 4pts better i'd go for it anyways

RvP up against his old club smells like a brace (and a YC).

Vorm out and SWA defence looking dodgy.

Santi away and ARS can't score.

Berba "injured" and up against Baines & Co.

    Hi guys,

Currently on WC, considering RVP vs. Rooney 🙂
I know that 90% of people here will tell me to get RVP but Rooney acctually has better stats in members comparison tool (last 4 matches). I just have a feeling that RVP does better in hard matches whereas Rooney scores better with crapy teams (another argument for Rooney).

But i think that the most importatant thing is formation. I guess Rooney was flourishing in the diamond but with Valencia & Young back RVP has the edge. What about 4-4-2? What will be the most common formation in the next gameweeks against weak opposition?

    Any insight would be helpful.

Start freeing up some cash and play Tevez this week. Next week you might find out Ba is out longer then expected? Get Cameron is you want to go Stoke.

Keep Santi and lose Felli? There is no denying Ars fixt from gw 11->21 are amazing and I can see the Santi sellers come running back.

For those wanting links about the Berb and Ba injury here they are. We all know of them but my understanding is that Berba's one appears more serious based on comparing the quotes of both managers.

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1206725/demba-ba-may-miss-liverpool-match?cc=3436

This is the info on Ba. Seems to suggest he will miss the game against Liverpool but we can't be totally certain yet. The good news is that it seems to be minor so may only miss one game.

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1204259/fulham-striker-dimitar-berbatov-may-have-broken-rib?cc=3436

Seems to be more serious at least on the pain front. Perhaps he could get regular injections and he could carry on playing but I'm not sure what the point in that is as he may struggle through training and there are plenty of other forwards in form for Fulham

As far as I know thats all the info there is on the Ba and Berbatov injury front. Obviously the prudent thing to do for owners is to have a contingency plan an probably save a transfer till we hear further news.

    Celtic v St Johnstone (CELTIC)
    Leeds v Southampton (LEEDS)
Palermo v AC Milan (AC MILAN)

    Sunderland v Middlesbrough (DRAW)
    Swindon v Aston Villa (SWINDON)
