Demba Ba’s Fantasy owners were handed plenty to worry about this morning after Alan Pardew admitted the striker faces a real fight to be fit for Sunday’s trip to Liverpool. Speaking this morning, the Newcastle boss went on to say:

“I think he’s 50-50 – at best. We’ve got Papiss back on the goal trail and Shola and Sammy so we’re happy with that. It is very important to have that. Papiss is fit and well and we are looking forward to seeing him this weekend.”

Owned by over 30% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers and 10% in the Sky Sports game, Ba has been in sensational form this season. While Newcastle have scored just 11 times so far, Ba’s input has been absolutely crucial – with seven goals and an assist already racked up, he is the fifth top scoring player in the FPL game and has been awarded more bonus points (14) than any other player.

While Pardew talked up Papiss Cisse, there’s no denying the forward’s goal against West Brom was more than fortunate – the former SC Freiburg man has struggled for form this term, with his strike against the Baggies his first of the season. Considering Hatem Ben Arfa has contributed no more than a single assist in the last six Gameweeks, it’s little wonder Ba’s popularity continues to rise – more than 20,000 FPL managers have already snapped up his services this week; they now face an anxious wait ahead of Pardew’s Friday press conference.

With Newcastle’s fixtures still looking enticing, the majority of Ba’s owners will likely be content to hold for now. After this weekend, the Magpies play host to West Ham, Swansea and Wigan in the following five and also have a trip to Southampton in Gameweek 13. Form and fixtures are undoubtedly in the 8.4 priced FPL forward’s favour – let’s just hope his fitness is, too.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Repost.
Predicted Walcott could get a run just yesterday morning. If he does, how does Santi>Theo & Berba>Ba sound for a hit? For GW11. Can’t see a better way to get Ba in.

Walcott could be a very good shout from GW 11, current injuries to Gerv and The Ox enhance his chances of plenty of gametime no end too.

The hit would be worth it, if not that GW, then by the next one. Berbatov's fixtures don't look great, whereas Ba's are solid gold.

Currently 1482 entrants to the FFS Cup so far, odds are therefore in good favour for qualification to the 1st round proper.

Ba's likely absence this weekend won't help my cause though.

        GKs bad.
Demel injured, Fabio not playing, Hangeland can be downgraded to Hughes.
Nolan terrible fixtures, Michu 50/50 could be good or bad to keep, Cazorla can be downgraded or switched to Mata.
Ba possibly injured, Berbatov bad fixtures IMO.

        No United, No Chelsea.

Whilst the team isn't absolutely awful, I would say there are good reason to pull the trigger on the WC now, and I don't advocate a WC easily.

I would look to change 9 of those players, so a WC should be worth it.

        +1. Just do this transfer.

Keep Michu, he is playing as a striker and can score goals. Why get rid?
Nolan has crap fixtures, sell the following week for Sterling.
Bale, Pienaar, Cazorla are all fine.

Tevez, Ba, Berbatov is decent. Hopefully one of Ba or Berbatov plays.

I dont think you need a wildcard. You may sell Ba to afford RVP, only to want Ba back.

I do think you need to work towards upgrading Tevez to RVP though, gvien United's fixtures nad the man's form.

    Currently have Davies (Swansea)..

Based on the season ticker, QPR have awesome fixtures till January wildcard and Swansea have pretty terrible ones (+ vorm out for 6-8 weeks etc).

Is Nelsen (QPR) a good shout? QPR seem to be improving but i'm not overly familiar with them.

I'm also thinking Lukaku for the fill-your-boots game against Southampton with Ba's potential absence this gameweek. Trouble is I'd sell Ba at 8.1 and have to buy him back at 8.4 and i've no available funds. I want firepower up front rather than the potentially measly returns my current bench could offer.

Question: How do I get Berbatov?

    Begovic Jassk

    Baines Jenkinson Clyne Demel Nelsen

    Bale Mata Carzola Pienaar Kaca

    RvP Tevez Lambert

    £0.0m in the bank

i think you can wait until gw15 for arsenal "cover." this is a team with an offside goal in their last 3 games, nothing to worry about yet. also despite 6 v southampton they're still only the 7th highest scorers in the league

We have played Chelsea, City, Sunderland and Stoke though. (Granted Norwich, QPR and Southampton too!) It's an all-new strikeforce which is clearly taking time to click. Lots of passing into empty spaces. Good players though and only a matter of time before they get on the same wavelength and score goals.

yep and as soon as that happens jump aboard. sitting through all 270mins of norwich, schalke and QPR (illegal stream alert!) getting an arsenal player is below getting a QPR player in my list of priorities. QPR! ...queens park rangers!

also as far as i'm aware baird got in the side due to diarra's injury. diarra is fit again now so it's baird v sidwell for a spot alongside him, sidwell lost out last week but i believe that was due to baird's matchwinner the game before. as soon as he has an excuse to go with diarra-sidwell i think he will

Given the doubts over Ba and Berba, is it worth saving my freebie this week? Was thinking of doing one of these the following week for free if so:

    a) Bale & Berba -> Pienaar & Tevez
    b) Hughes & Bale -> Walcott & Sagna

I'd be getting Bale back in GW13 in either scenario, so I'd only lose out on 0.1m of value and miss his games away at MCY and ARS.

    Jaask, Fed
    Baines, Cuellar, Hughes, McCartney, Clyne
    Bale, Mata, Santi, Michu, Guthrie
    RVP, Ba, Berba

With Pardew mentioning his other striking options and his fitness 50/50 it does sound very much like Ba will benched or left at home this weekend. Might make it slightly cheaper for me to get him in... but I think that's wishful thinking because I reckon most will only know at kickoff and won't sell because of his coming fixtures.
