Demba Ba’s Fantasy owners were handed plenty to worry about this morning after Alan Pardew admitted the striker faces a real fight to be fit for Sunday’s trip to Liverpool. Speaking this morning, the Newcastle boss went on to say:

“I think he’s 50-50 – at best. We’ve got Papiss back on the goal trail and Shola and Sammy so we’re happy with that. It is very important to have that. Papiss is fit and well and we are looking forward to seeing him this weekend.”

Owned by over 30% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers and 10% in the Sky Sports game, Ba has been in sensational form this season. While Newcastle have scored just 11 times so far, Ba’s input has been absolutely crucial – with seven goals and an assist already racked up, he is the fifth top scoring player in the FPL game and has been awarded more bonus points (14) than any other player.

While Pardew talked up Papiss Cisse, there’s no denying the forward’s goal against West Brom was more than fortunate – the former SC Freiburg man has struggled for form this term, with his strike against the Baggies his first of the season. Considering Hatem Ben Arfa has contributed no more than a single assist in the last six Gameweeks, it’s little wonder Ba’s popularity continues to rise – more than 20,000 FPL managers have already snapped up his services this week; they now face an anxious wait ahead of Pardew’s Friday press conference.

With Newcastle’s fixtures still looking enticing, the majority of Ba’s owners will likely be content to hold for now. After this weekend, the Magpies play host to West Ham, Swansea and Wigan in the following five and also have a trip to Southampton in Gameweek 13. Form and fixtures are undoubtedly in the 8.4 priced FPL forward’s favour – let’s just hope his fitness is, too.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Predicted Moneyball - Jay Rodriguez 5.2m

Plays higher up the pitch than Lambert and has returned a goal and an assist in his last two matches for his 0.3% of owners.

Southampton absolutely murdered Tottenham in the second half. MURDERED. Lucky not to get 3 points, never mind the draw.

Beyond the statistics he is pure class. Technically one of the best young English players around. Reminds me of Van Perise

      (don't laugh!)

I am looking at a wc option with him.

    Gents,

Ben Davies at Swansea. Am I right in thinking he is only in as N Taylor is injured? Do we know when Taylor is back?

I currently have Davies and wondering how long he will continue to get starts. The FPL info on Taylor says unknown return date.

    Cheers.

I swapped Taylor to Davies after the broken leg and he has done absolutely nothing Swansea always seem to concede now. Still he's a good cheapie on the off chance they keep one and there fixtures are ok after this weekend.

also wouldn't worry too much about ppi down, especially as one reason would be due to shots of target, would be more worried if he wasn't having shots at all. losing both games also hurts ppi

Is RVP berbs Rooney too much? Since you would think 70-80% of manu's goals will come from those two. And if united score 12 goals over the next 6 games with roon/rvp involvement at 70% then you would expect 8.4 goals between them. If you captain one of them half the time you are looking at a 90+ point return (incl potential bonus pts) for two strikers. What i havent looked at is the potential points you would miss out on elsewhere from downgrading mid/def. Opinions?

He's got something like 7.5 ppg since he's come back from injury (RVP around 8 for that period I think), and the 5 fixtures after Arsenal are much easier.

Unless I get some injuries, I'm going to gamble on it anyway.

Don't think it really matters if your a fan on this one, its still a guessing game. May be a case of if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Any thoughts on my team and where I could improve it?:

      Foster, (Fed),
      Baines, Cuellar, McAuley, (Clyne, Demel),
      Santi, Mata, Pienaar, Michu, (Guthrie),
      RVP, Tevez, Berba. (0.0 bank)

I was thinking of saving my transfer. Obviously the lack of Bale is a worry, but since he hasn’t scored or assisted at WHL yet I think I can go through this week without him. Or should I take a hit to get him in?

I wasn't going to suggest specifics as not sure who you can afford (I don't think you can afford those 2 targets with 0.0 in the bank for example). But that sort of thing, yeah.

probably the latter. defoe was awful last game and has a worrying knack of dodging bonus due to his suarez rate of shots off target. no double figure scores for defoe this season, can't wait to sell greedy bum

Oh definately 1 then. Ba will be back after this week. If you sell him you're just going to want him back again. Rafael has an amazing run of fixtures and even if he gets benched for 1 or 2, will still score very well imo.

1 thing worries me is that when Ba returns for gw 11, Papiss Cisse would have nailed that sport upfront and he would be benched etc.

Ill wait abit more on Jon, Im giving walters 1-2 more weeks if he doesnt deliver, Walters to Pienaar/Fellaini straight away.

I had my best fantasy week for the past year or so, I tried linking my team to my profile but its not working for some reason http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/19002/history/

Definately not worth -4. I'd hold on to Aguero and look at getting RVP another way. Or downgrade him to Tevez and upgrade someone else to RVP if you can afford it.

Realising that bringing in Berbatov for -4 last week wasn't the smartest move as I now want Ba for his great fixtures (original plan was to drop Tevez -> Ba, but Tevez is a great option right now)

          RVP, Tevez, Berbatov.

          Begovic - (Vorm)

Baines - Rafael - Boyce - (Clyne, Demel)

          Mata - Cazorla - Michu - Sterling - (Maloney)

          RVP - Ba - Berbatov

          1FT, 3.5m in bank

          A) Save transfer, Maloney first sub if Ba out

          B) Vorm -> Ruddy & Ba -> Rooney (-4pts)

          C) Vorm -> Tremmel/McCarthy & Maloney -> Bale (-4pts), Sterling first sub if Ba out

Leaning towards A at the moment. Grateful for any advice.
