A series of eye-catching performances in the last few months of the previous campaign had Fantasy managers queuing up to acquire the services of Hatem Ben Arfa. Having struggled to convince Alan Pardew of a regular role in the Newcastle starting XI, the Frenchman finally flourished on Tyneside as Newcastle moved to 4-3-3 but while a shift back to 4-4-2 has benefitted Demba Ba this season, Ben Arfa hasn’t quite delivered.

The opening three Gameweeks had looked promising. Notching in each of his first two home matches, Ben Arfa seemed set to rack up the points but since grabbing his side’s only goal in the Gameweek 3 draw with Villa, his Fantasy owners have been served up nothing more than a solitary assist.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Bale is a good choice but if you pay £13M for a striker playing at home to a team who have just conceded 5 you should captain him.

yeah he really stuck his neck out on the RVP situation. i think any time RVP does something he gets proper harassed, haha. against arsenal i can only imagine what the bombardment he would get would be.

Thoughts on my team? Used FT this week on Gibbs -> Clichy.

    Foster - Begovic

    Baines - Clichy - Hughes - Demel - Davies

Bale - Mata - Ben Arfa - Michu - Sterling

    RVP - Jelavic - Berbatov

    Cheers!

    Hi guys

Bit worried i may not be able to field 11 – worth taking a hit? 0.4 in bank.

    Jaaskelainen
    Rafael, Ridgewell, Baines
    Bale, Sterling, Michu, Mata
    RVP, Tevez, Ba

    Subs: Gazaniga, Cole, Kacaniklik, Demel

Demel injured, Cole & Ba doubts, Kacaniklik won’t start.

    cheers!

Signed Marc Wilson last week simply because of Stokes outstanding fixtures.

If he didnt get injured I reckon I would have signed Begovic this week.

Hovvever, with the DGW news, best transfer is possibly Wilson > Cuellar?

Norwich have averaged 1 goal a game at home and less than 1 goal a game overall. Conventional logic says start the home player, but Stoke are very, very stingy and Norwich are goalshy.

So my WC basically comes down to a choice between "safe and proven" or "risk and potential".

    A. RVP, Morrison, Lallana.

*This group has good fixtures, doing pretty well this season and fairly popular picks.

    B. Giroud, Cazorla, Oscar

*This group has similar fixtures, lots of upside and potential for the individual costs, not much ownership overall.

Group B does not look as good now, but from watching the games and the stats, they appear to be heating up nicely to boiling point, perhaps a touch unlucky not to have done a tad bit better up to now. They remind me of Bale just before he took off in points (everything pointed towards points, they just weren't forth coming.)

    ...So..A and safety, or B and risk/potential?

Fantasy football isn't always about getting the best players. If he plays, he's a better shout than Bosingwa. Only reason why you'd pay more for a defender is if he'll get bonus/attacking points.

Jenkinson won't get in Arsenal starting XI now Sagna is fit will he?

Only problem with us all captaining RVP is that we'll be unhappy either way.

If RVP has a stormer we all benefit and are in the same position as we are now with the few 'non-believers' suffering.

If he has a crap match, we're all screwed with the 'non-believers' probably getting the last laugh with Bale, Torres, Mata, Defoe,Suarez, Tevez, Aguero, etc...

i dont mind which game it is really, as long as he scores something (just like any other C choice). if i choose him last and some of my other options score well before him, its just as bad!

Never stopped RVP before in the early games. Didn't he get two of his biggest hauls in a 12.45 game or something? At least a hatrick in one of the 12.45s.

But I understand, early game = early disappointment or excitement gone.

Very tempted by Bale. He is looking very dangerous at the moment. But i think it really has to be RVP. 8-2

there's 38 weeks in this game., not one. Always pick the obvious choice and you'll be laughing at the end of the season. Sure there will be some disasters along the way. It's all about the aggregate tho

Very true. 3 of my 9 captains have failed me so far. Need to keep the recently good streak going. I think I'll be a sheep this week and go with RVP rather than a lone wolf.

United create the most chances, have the best finisher in the league, on form, and at home to a leaky defence who he's extra motivated to do well against.

I cant see why anyone who has him wouldnt captain him

Michu or Cazorla for this weekend?

Have Rafael so think I should rest Cazorla to avoid conflict of interests

Cazorla, united do not have a good defensive record this season.

I'd ignore conflict of interest, could be a high scoring match on both sides. Depends on how confident you are in Cazorla's potential converting to goals/assists.

Granville or Mark, I was meaning to ask you something a while ago… Do you reckon it’s possible to get all links on the site opening up in another window (_blank), so that you don’t have people leaving the site? Would improve usability… Just a thought… 🙂

Most definitely... 🙂 Did not at all want it to be taken as criticism... It's just a minor thing and something to disregard if not wanted... The site is amazing imo and I love it... Don't get me wrong...

We could but it's actually really bad practice to do that - web protocol says we should ask permission before opening a new window for a user. Some sites do it, but it's generally a web design no no.
