A perfect set-piece routine that had Gary Neville purring set the Potters on their way, only for West Ham to find an unlikely source for their equaliser. Here’s the Stock Check following tonight’s muscular affair at Upton Park…

On the Up

Joey O’Brien
The former Bolton man struck his first Premier League goal to bring the Hammers back on terms as Big Sam’s men rallied for the second period. O’Brien once again lined up at right-back, leaving a fit-again Guy Demel stranded on the bench. The 4.0 prospect has started the last three league outings, earned an assist in Gameweek 11 and is now ranked second amongst West Ham’s defenders in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. With bonus to follow, O’Brien is set to earn new suitors, although West Ham’s short-term fixtures remain a concern.

Jon Walters
A superbly worked goal reminded us of the quality that Walters has in his game but this was only his second strike of the season. Even as a 6.3 midfielder in the FPL, pushed up alongside Peter Crouch in attack, he’s been overshadowed by a gang of similar mid-price talent this term, not least Kevin Nolan in opposition tonight.

Going Down

Guy Demel and James Collins
Both have returned to fitness but have been kept on the bench for two consecutive matches by the Hammers. It seems that Collins faces a fight to earn a recall alongside Winston Reid as James Tomkins stakes his claim for regular starts. As for Demel, his prospects took a bigger dent has Joey O’Brien impressed again in the right-back berth.

Mark Noble
The booking tonight took him to four for the season, lifting him onto Anorak’s “Suspension Tightrope” and leaving him just one yellow from a one-match ban. Noble is owned by over 5% of the FPL player base.

Andy Wilkinson
The make-shift left-back limped off after 32 minutes after picking up an injury and will now presumably be an early doubt for the home clash with Fulham.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Rotates pretty well with Sterling actually, and yes, that Forward line is not to be sniffed at. Could be a season maker.

Why didn't Caulker play against Arsenal? I want to swap Cazorla for Walcott (back) and Shorey out for Caulker (have the exact funds atm) - but what's the go on Caulker? First choice now?

Unfortunately AVB thinks Gallas is our best central defender. In my honest opinion he is our 4th best central defender. Seriously. He must bring something to the team that is not obvious to us spectators. Captains influence?

Anyway, after trying Vertonghen on the left-back, it seems the decision is we will play an outright fullback there when possible (BAE, Naughton) - which means, unfortunately again, Caulker has to make way so that Gallas can keep playing.

My transfer options are a tad contrasting
    A) Foster & Saylor > Mignolet & Enrique( or Cuellar)
    B) Baines & Fellaini > Silva & Enrique (or Cuellar)

    A) would be the easy and obvious choice but long term I want Silva, his price is heading back up now and Fellainis suspension and tougher fixtures after that make him the preferred option.Don't know of I could sleep easy without Baines and Fellaini, any thoughts- team linked. Ta.

Hi Gnu. Can you not just do Saylor -> Cuellar and save 4 points? Bench Fellaini for the one week and maybe downgrade Baines GW14, allowing you to get Silva in.

Cheers RCA, I reckon I would rather hold on to the free tran but I reckon Silva is on the start of a run. Will Everton sustain there form and is Fellaini fixture proof? The 5 mids choice is probably the toughest part of this season imo, a lot of good choices and scores flux accordingly as seen again this GW.

I've just had the worst GW that I think I've ever had. 27 points. While all my main ML rivals have hit mega ton scores.

The 1 worse GW that springs to mind was in December 2010 when all but 2/3 matches were snowed off, and I only had 4 or 5 players play.

Does anyone have any comforting words for me, to help ease my pain......

The season long debate of Rooney vs RVP is a well trodden path. From what I've seen, Van Persie helps Rooney's game by occupying the centrebacks,.. they share set piece delivery, and Rooney's on pens.

Van Persie is the better finisher, IMO.

For the price, I think Rooney could be better value. No coincidence that United struggled at Norwich without him. He plays the Tevez role in linking midfield and attack and is vital.

          Should be fun!

Leaves exactly 0.0m in the bank... I'm going to go for it if the price drop happens and Walcott comes through CL unscathed!

I'd tried so many combinations but not found one I was happy with until half an hour ago :). Also means I can bench Michu when he picks up his 5th booking. Got a good feeling about this!

Would you advice this transfer? -4 point hit doesn't bother me. Thank you ! 🙂
(OUT) Cazorla. Hazard, Ba (IN) Walcott, Silva, Suarez

This transfer would allow me to downgrade Baines and upgrade Lambert next week to Enrique+Berba.

Want to see if Walcott avoids injury on Wednesday before I bring him in, but I can't afford any price change until then.

How likely are Walcott or Yaya to have a price change before Wednesday? I think I can get away with it but hoping for a second opinion!

Nolan -> Sterling, Guthrie -> Maloney (4 point hit) and play both this week

    or

play Gunter (wig) and Nolan (tot).

I'm leaning towards the hit as it sorts out bloody Guthrie once and for all and the Sterling/ Maloney rotation is fixed til the 2nd WC.

    Thanks!

Transfer looks the better option but it would be tough to transfer out Nolan now you have him. Looking at your Squad you can see the cost of affording RvP, good scoring btw.

crouch had more touches in his own penalty area than the opposing team which says alot. He did well in his defensive work but offered little going forward.

Nolan looked ok, had a good chance but missed.
