Another article-packed Friday finally comes to a close with our weekly look at a trio of overlooked options for the Gameweek ahead. With one of last week’s three, Jose Enrique, racking up an 18 point Fantasy Premier League (FPL) haul, our new protagonists have a lot to live up to…

Stephane Sessegnon

A total of 161 points in the previous campaign earned the Sunderland midfielder a starting price of 8.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) but it’s fair to say he’s yet to vindicate his hefty cost. Sessegnon’s attacking potential saw him rack up seven goals and 12 assists last season, meaning he played a part in 45% of his side’s league goals, but Steven Fletcher’s arrival has seen the former Wolves man take up the mantle of talisman instead.

Prior to last week’s trip to Fulham, Sessegnon had failed to find the net but a spectacular strike at the Cottage, in addition to a run of four home games in the next four, has brought him back onto the radar. Ahead of his side’s crucial run of games, Martin O’Neill has revealed an upturn in self-belief could be all the midfielder needs to reignite his under-par campaign:

“Sometimes we have had to wait some time to see that type of form. His goals don’t have to be spectacular but he should score more for the ability he possesses. There was frustration about his game because he got himself into some great positions. You would not believe he would be suffering any sort confidence because his training has been very very good. He is getting sharper which is important. He should be able to score double figures with his ability and something he should be putting into this thought process.”

There’s no doubt the Sessegnon is a real punt for those considering his acquisition but if he can maintain his level of performance from last weekend, there’s clearly potential for points. Now down to 7.3 in FPL, he is priced at 7.7 in the Sky Sports game and, with an ownership of around 1% in both games, he could prove a real differential for those who fancy a real flutter over the next few Gameweeks.

Nicky Shorey

Having managed just a single clean sheet all season, Reading’s defensive resilience is not much of a selling point for Fantasy managers. Shorey, however, more than makes up for his side’s inability to keep out opponents – over the last few weeks, he has even rivalled Leighton Baines in terms of creativity from the back, with an assist against Everton last Saturday long overdue.

The 2-1 triumph over the Toffees earned Brian McDermott’s side their first win of the season and will boost confidence ahead of a run of games which pits them against four of the bottom six in the next four, double Gameweek 16 inclusive. With a substantial share of corner kicks also boosting his appeal, Shorey’s constant supply from left-back could well harvest more points hauls if the Reading frontmen can convert even a fraction of the opportunities provided.

A cut-price cost of 4.1 in FPL and 4.0 in the Sky Sports game, with 1.3% and 0.7% ownership respectively, he’s one to mull over for those Fantasy managers seeking a way to free up budget at the back for pricier acquisitions further up the field.

Jack Wilshere

It’s not just Arsenal’s trip to Villa tomorrow that looks appetising; a strong upcoming schedule could well prove profitable for Arsene Wenger’s troops. With that in mind, we turn our attentions to their fit-again midfielder after he continued his impressive return from injury by notching the opener in the 2-0 Champions League win over Montpellier.

Granted, Wilshere’s deep-lying role in the doubt-pivot alongside Mikel Arteta means he’s unlikely to match the potential of Santi Cazorla, but could possibly mirror the Spaniard for value if he carries his eye for goal onto the domestic stage. While Theo Walcott and Gervinho may vie for the right flank role, Wilshere now seems to be an automatic first XI pick again and could be an intriguing mid-price midfield punt over the next few. Priced at 6.4 in FPL and 6.0 in the Sky Sports game, with an ownership of around 1% in both games, he’s a relatively budget-friendly alternative to Cazorla’s 9.4 and Walcott’s 8.7 FPL price tags.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Do you think it will be a goal fest For City and Chelsea?

Benitez plays boring football, he might park the bus, if he goes up a goal... probably a good idea to get Chelsea defenders in now. Get rid of Mata.

Not luck...stats. They are stat based on what has happened in the season so far. I agree it is far from difficult to see a RVP hat trick today and I would captain him ahead of my strikers in an instant but it is far from as clear cut as it looks stats wise.

I've got both begovic and cameron in my 11 and i feel like I should bench berba because if my stoke defenders get a cs which ive got a feeling they will, berba will be left with a 2 pter so should I sub berba out for demel or possibly mcanuff. Or alternatively bench cameron for demel.

You (like myself) have 2 Stoke defensive players for their home fixtures. Score big or small everytime we play them. If you are not prepared to play 2 at home to mid-table teams then I would sell one. Plus surely Stoke are more likely to keep a cleanie at home to Fulham than West Ham away at Spurs?

Just consider whether you think Berbatov is more likely to score at Stoke than West Ham are to keep a cleansheet at Spurs, or McAnuf is to do something at Wigan. Forget about how may Stoke you have playing at the back.

This all depends on the risk I want to take if I want to maximise my possible haul I'll pick the players which dont interfere with other players scores i.e bench berba or if I want to minimise the risk I will start berba. So far this season stoke are yet to concede more than one goal at home so it is unlikely that berba will be subject to double figures, however mcanuff hasnt got any attacking returns in his previous three relatively easy games, despite having a game against wig (a) this week who dont have the best defensive record themselves. At the moment I'll stick with berba, but I may change to mcanuff if I feel he will get something against wigan.

    Sagna - Baines - Cueller
    Pienaar - Michu - Cazorla - Bale - Mata

silva looks like he can deliver big the next coupe of weeks (but probably no immediate returns this week)
bale should improve now that dembele is back in the team
sessegnon is a outside bet really but can work as a differential
id go bale since the 3 of them have realtively low ownership among the top seeded teams

Sessegnon is the flair pick (or Adam J) - Sunderland have 4 out of the next 5 at home including a DGW.

Spurs have 4 of the next 6 at home, where their form has been disappointing.

City's fixtures are not great, but Silva seems back in form.

      (c) for me and bank the cash, then reassess again after the DGW.

Got 2FTs and no urgent transfers this week

would getting rid of Foster be a waste of time? He's out for a while. Bego is my other keeper, who is fine, but maybe Mignolet ?

    bego, tremmel
    baines, rafa, cuellar, davies, nelsen
    mata, bale, fellaini, sterling, maloney

everton defence isnt as solid as we are used to mainly because of hibbert for whom coleman is covering. coleman is more useful going forward but in defnsive line he is plain useless.
also neville is playing on the left side of midfield to shield baines attacks which leaves coleman more ewxposed on the right side.
now will neville out till next year and gibson still returning to fitness the only two senior fit midfielders are osman and hitzelberger whio cannot complete 90 min not to mention 3 games in one week.
add to the mix fellaini mirallas and anichibe out, everton are likely to be outmuscled all over the pitch and from set pieces they will probably suffer
if ur captaining baines hoping for a clean sheet, i strongly doubt it

well my strategy was that baines is such an awesome player he will get more of the ball, its the only way everton will win. but anyway i will go santi (c)

I'm running out of time. Using WC.

Heres the team I'm looking at. Opinions plz.

    Mignolet Federici
    Cuellar Gorkss Clyne Shawcross Nelsen
    Puncheon Cazorla Bale Silva Michu
    Berba Torres Suarez.

OK I know there are issues. I'm gonna list stuff I need advice on. Any help appreciated. Not sure about Torres.

1.Michu or AJ. AJ is 0.1 cheaper, Michu is on risk of another yellow, AJ has DGW coming up.
2.Front 3 is basically the problem. For those 3 I have 28.7 available so any help there would be appreciated.
3.Should I put Fellaini in, put him on the bench and maybe bring in RVP? which midfielder should i DG
4.Any other advice you can give please. New to fantasy football.

    Thanks in advance.

So you'd recommend downgrading my midfield/other strikers a bit to get RVP? Because if I DG Bale > Fellaini and get RVP I have 17.1 for my other 2 forwards. Which isn't much. I think Silvas going to wreck Chelsea (and I'm a chelsea fan haha) So would prefer not to get rid of him. Michu to Sterling? maybe I dunno. Is RVP really worth 13.7?
