[sbu_large_image] The Stock Check

A bitterly disappointing goalless stalemate brings Saturday’s events to a whimpering close and leaves us hoping for a Sunday blowout. Here’s the somewhat limited Stock Check on this evening’s “action”…

On the Up

Kieran Gibbs
Back fit and in the frame, Arsene Wenger restored the left-back to his back four and decided to omit Thomas Vermaelen. While this casts some doubt over Wenger’s first choice central defensive pairing, Gibbs looks assured of starts at left-back when fit.

The Villa Defence
It was only their third clean sheet of the season but a determined showing will have encouraged Paul Lambert. With Reading, QPR and Stoke in the next three, there could be some low-to-mid price potential on offer, with Brad Guzan in goal and Ciaran Clark perhaps short-term punts. The injury to Ron Vlaar, which saw him withdrawn just after half-time, will be a concern, though.

Going Down

Santi Cazorla
Having fetched double figures against Spurs, Cazorla’s impact was again reduced by the abject performances of those around him. Without Theo Walcott, the Gunners again appeared to lack pace and penetration and for all Olivier Giroud’s neat touches, he failed to present a significant threat to the Villa defence.

Bacary Sagna
Somewhat surprisingly rested to the bench, the rotation with Carl Jenkinson could be a concern from this point on. With the Gunners progressing in the Champions League, tonight’s teamsheet would indicate that Wenger will look to give Jenkinson numerous opportunities at Sagna’s expense – another boost for Gibbs as the weapon of choice in the Gunners back four.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Can do Lambert ➡ Tevez tomorrow before his price rise or Berbs ➡ Suarez with 0.3 extra.

Any opinions as to which is better?

After dumping Fletcher for Berbatov two weeks ago just in time for the former to start scoring the latter to stop, I'm considering reversing the transfer this week and just putting it down to experience. Or am I repeating the same mistake?

Fletcher has a DGW, generally better fixtures and and improvement in attacking form from his suppliers. I also fancy him to be a bit more, er... committed over the winter months than Berbatov.

The good thing is, however pointless (literally) otherwise, I will have made some money from this activity and can use the savings to upgrade elsewhere.

Any thoughts on this obvious knee-jerk?

Its too bad that sunderland suck or this would be a snap call transfer. As it is they suck and don't generate enough chances for it not to be a hugh risk.

*Berbatov -> Fletcher? Berbs is the sort of player that gets a lot of 2's then explodes with a hattrick. I wouldn't let a blank away to stoke put you off.

I'm going to do Berbs to Fletch until GW 17 when I'll swap them back. Yes Berba is fixture proof, but Flether's fixtures plus the DGW are too good to pass up. They're similar prices so doing a straight swap is easy. I figure Berba has just as good a chance to blow up when I don't have him as he does when I do. Fletcher on the other hand, not so much.

Do any of you guys take note of improved team performances like Norwich.

Bent has great diffs as a striker and Hoola Hoops is a poor mans Caz. I just love teams that play this game like it means something to them. ___And Norwich tick all the boxes for me atm.

Is anyone worried about Everton's fixtures with regards to Fellaini?

Or is he the type of player who is fixture proof? Considering his form this season?

Thinking of getting him in and doing Noble > Puncheon to fund Pienaar > Fellaini

Hoping Suarez gets 6 goals and FF bring in a new rule that anyone that gets 6 goals deserves 50 ponus points 🙂

I hope Nando gets a brace too. Saw him score twice v Chelsea in '09, always thought he was a gent and he was right to leave at the time. Was never gonna win anything at Anfield with that team. Despite shite form an FA Cup and Champions league later shows he was right. I think the pressure of the higher expectations at The Bridge have gotten to him. Hopefully Rafa will get him right.

It's beginning to look that way. One assist and no clean sheets two months with poor fixtures until Christmas. If Brendan Rodgers continues to play Jose Enrique on the wing a straight swap next week is going to be difficult to resist.

He probably won't keep playing him on the wing and if he did he won't have the retturns like he did at home against a poor Wigan side on the day.Glenner should be given a chance on the wing.

Liverpool have great defensive stats and both GJ and EJ look appealling for the next few weeks, far more than Baines. Johnson should be a great fantasy football player but he never seems to fulfill his potential, for some reason. If Rodgers plays him on the wing I'd be tempted.

Just did Baines-->Shorey and Berbatov-->Suarez before the rise.
Don't mind the 5th yellow, his price will keep rising with him performing at this level. Even if he slows a bit down he's clearly a goal threat striker and the only player I'd like to have for Liverpool.
As for Baines, I think he'll get a goal and/or an assist eventually but clearly not on a constant basis therefore he's overpriced at the moment..

Man U have good fixtures before the winter wildcard, Liverpool have better.
    RVP's form: 5.8. Suarez's form: 7.4.
    Suarez is £3.3 cheaper.
Suarez is crucial to his team winning matches, RVP isn't.
So with 8 GWs til we all get a free wildcard surely it's worth making the swap now? This isn't a kneejerk, it's just a sensible transfer.

        That would selling Berba 🙁
I've been looking for a way of bringing David Silva into my team, instead of dropping Cazorla/Bale/Michu I can just upgrade Maloney if I do Suarez to RVP (as well as Vertonghen to a Norwich D)

Ah. Well, I wouldn't worry about selling Berbatov, he has poorish fixtures and you can always buy him back for Christmas. Why not get a Reading defender, Shorey, Gorkss or this lad Morrison? They have some form, a double game week and are cheap.

All good points and reasons to move on. If he was just £1.5 cheaper it wouldn't effect the rest of my team scores so much.

I was thinking RVP>Rooney for this reason. And I keep some GOOD MU cover for their nice fixtures. Also both are just as likely to have a week where one will explode with points.
Sure Rooney will probably not score as many points over the season as RVP but then again it won't be too different IMO and he is that much more affordable.

      What say you?

I think I'm going to do that. It kind of feels like not really playing the game somehow, picking those three, but I can't really be arsed anymore. They're probably almost guaranteed to be the three top scorers and it solves the problem of wasting transfers on forwards.
I can then waste my transfers on fiddling about with cheap defenders, which is what I really enjoy in this game.

Think the same. Sund def is a shambles.

I can see Baines attraction hence why I have him, BUT... and it's a massive BUT, he is not value for money with his results this season. Combined with the fact that I am unable to get in other players I want due to lack of funds and it's costing me points elsewhere. This is my teams issue not necessarily anyone who doesn't have money troubles.
