Just as Paddy drew level, our treble came in. A goal for Luis Suarez, coupled with an assist for David Silva and a City clean sheet in the win over Villa handed us another timely windfall and put us back in the black. Our bookmaker friends in retreat, we missed out on the Flutter last weekend but it returns for the midweek menu, with Paddy looking to prise back our winnings…

First up for Wednesday’s matches, we look to a name that’s been circulating the community for the last 48-hours: Southampton’s Gaston Ramirez. He’s on many a wishlist following a goal and assist return against Newcastle, and we’re willing to back his form with a few quid. Paddy are dangling 15/2 on another Ramirez goal against Norwich, packaged with a second consecutive Southampton cleanie. Ramirez is in fashion and even the Saints back four are playing with some confidence. We’ll take Paddy’s offer for £2 of our tenner.

Sunderland’s Stephane Sessegnon is another name garnering attention following the weekend events. A potential template breaker in midfield, Sessegnon is showing glimpses of last season’s form just in time for the Black Cats’ double fixture in Gameweek 16. After a goal and assist return in the damaging defeat to West Brom, can Sessegnon find the net when Harry’s boys visit the North-East? Paddy are offering 6/1 on a Sessegnon goal with a Sunderland shut-out against QPR. Again, we’ll chuck a couple of quid at this, with Sessegnon there or thereabouts for the Picks for the Gameweek.

Villa’s Christian Benteke is another player we’ve got a lot of time for: he’s proved integral to Villa’s threat in recent weeks and is certain to trouble Reading’s faltering back line tomorrow evening. Paul Lambert’s side are far from prolific, but we fancy them to break the shackles against the Royals and, with Paddy offering 4/1 on a Benteke goal with a Villa clean sheet, we’ll take that for £3 of our hard earned.

That leaves a handsome £3 left for the treble – having won out on this the last time around, we’re going into this one with confidence. Paddy have 10/1 on a Robin Van Persie goal against West Ham, a Juan Mata assist when Chelsea face Fulham and a Stoke clean sheet against the wounded Magpies.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    Baines - Ivanovic - Cuellar
    Bale - Fellaini - Michu - Nolan
    RVP(c) - Tevez (vc) - Berbatov

Looking at Nolan to Sessegnon (to play). Any other ideas (transfers, line up, bench, captain) as have 2 x FT and 1.0m in the bank.

Really need to get this GW right, so many thanks in advance...

I am personally thinking Tevez >> Aguero in the near future so I wouldn't personally recommend bringing Tevez in. But what do I know.

Yes, however, Saints are clicking offensively. I'd take good offense over good defense any day of the week.

Also, psychologically, playing a midfielder for scoring potential at Old Trafford feels wrong, regardless of United's poor defensive record this year.

Saving my tranny this week, couple questions

Degea had a good run of games before he got his wisdom teeth out, I reckon once he is back he is the cheapest route into the united DF

Is Enrique really gonna be playing left wing from now on?

Thinking of doing Giroud in Tevez out next week as I see the city attack as a bit of minefield now apart from Silva. Silly?

      1. With so many budget keepers doing well (and rotating well) I am not sure it's worth it. Bego, Jaas, Mignolet, Ruddy...
      2. I'd give it a few more games. It does sound intriguing, I agree.
      3. Not silly. I am thinking something similar, I just don't know if I want Silva or Aguero.

Enrique is definitely a wait and see!

You are spot on with the budget keepers, but in my case I missed the boat on Rafael, and have bego and Cameron, so I was thinking as good as stoke have been risking 2 def from 1 club isnt something I like doing. Plan is to maybe take out gallas as you said, bring in wisdom, then ditch bego for degea after he rises a bit more hopefully! Would then have utd liv stk sund and whu coverage without sacrificing my mid and attack.

Just went for silva and I am leaving him there, he ruined me last year.

Not sure about DDG. He and Lindy will still be rotated. Consider Jevans as united def cover.

As for Enrique....even if he lines up on defense, I reckon he is still worth it given Liverpool fixtures upcoming.

im looking at Santon to 4m and Berba to Giroud.

I know getting shot of Berba is frowned upon round here but the fixtures over next 6 look good

Don't make the change if you don't need to just because of that. If it really matters to you that much then change your vice captain and switch your bench around. 🙂

thats good advice. i may follow it with a letter to the people in my league stating my changes and the justification for them. i feel the art of letter writing is being lost in the 12st century and thats a real shame.

Sell Walcott or Fellaini for Ramirez ?

selling Walcott lets me me have a stronger defense. Decided I'm bringing Aguero in for Kone, and need to raise £4m by selling Baines and Walcott/Fellaini.

Would like to keep Mata/Bale/Sterling, although have doubts over Mata.

i have no definite answers as your team looks ok, but-
      1. Baines. I know the arguments for but i dont just follow it, too much for me Rafa for attacking and then 4 defenders in the price range you already have.
      2. Caz- Again, some love him. Great player, doesnt get enough points. Bale/ Silva in and leave all season
      3. Haz- Mata cheaper and more involved
      4. Jelly- Suarez/Tevez/Giroud better
      5. Noble to someone

Man Utd fan. That's the thing. Even though I play this game highly seriously, that thing ends up deciding quite a bit. Which is fine enough. Some people in forums putting Aguero on the bench against Wigan, which would just suck so hard. Rooney has WHM, rdg, MCY, SUN

Really struggling to get my bench order right here, could do with a hand. One of the key questions is whether its worth starting players who contradict others in my team such as going double stoke defence when I have and also starting Caulker when in all likelyhood I'd need Sterling off the bench if Walcott is still injured.

    Begovic (NEW)

Baines (ARS), *Cameron (NEW)*, *Caulker (LIV)*

Mata(FUL), Bale (LIV), Fellaini (ARS), *Walcott (eve)*

    RVPc(WHA), Ba(sto), Berbatov(che)

    Bench: *Sterling(tot)*, *Davies(WBA)*, *Shorey(avl)*

Contradictions mean absolutely nothing, and I'm surprised people don't realize that. Only if you are racing towards the very end. A given player's expected value, points-wise, is the only factor you should consider. And your bench looks good as it is.

Your wrong. It limits the potential points return for your team as you can only have one winner in a Ba vs Stoke defence scenario. You will get a higher points return if you can avoid it and results go the way you want them to. The same applies for Caulker vs Sterling. I could back Liverpool to score and then play Davies and back them to get a cleanie.

Sorry, but you are wrong. The points you get from Ba or whoever is completely unrelated to whether you choose to play the defender or not. It is of course not unrelated to what happens in the game, but that doesn't matter at all. The fact that you can have no winner is irrelevant. What you back and do not back is, in the end, nothing but a (qualified) hunch, leaving you with expected value.

If Player X has a 40% chance of scoring against a defender with 40% of keeping a clean sheet, you should play those two instead of another defender with a 35% chance of a cleanie.

You are right regarding it being the result of a hunch. What I'm saying is that the collective potential returns is less. If you treat players individually you are right but you are wrong when you consider players collectively.
