Tuesday’s matches lived up to expectations, as four sides low on confidence and fraught with stuttering form served up a single goal and limited returns. Here’s the Stock Check on this evening’s events…

On the Up

Christian Benteke
Thrown into the Scout Picks, the formidable Belgian striker delivered a third goal of the season to provide a vital winner for Villa. With Darren Bent kept in the stands, Benteke justified Paul Lambert’s faith in him with another muscular display. Maximum bonus beckons and it’s QPR and Stoke over the next two.

The Villa Defence
While Paul Lambert’s back four have conceded eight goals in their last five, all eight of those conceded came against United and City, meaning that the Villa back four have kept three clean sheets around those two matches. Three away games in the next four is an obstacle to investment, although their progress is clearly worth monitoring. Scout Pick Ciaran Clark has the goal threat to accompany defensive returns but he joined the suspension tightrope with his fourth booking tonight.

Adel Taarabt
There were question marks over the Moroccan’s role when Harry Redknapp took the reins but tonight’s showing indicated that Taarabt will remain a key figure and certainly QPR’s biggest threat and creative influence. While he drew a blank this evening, Fantasy managers will be monitoring his potential as QPR’s schedule improves.

Going Down

Sunderland’s Attack
With six goals in their last three matches, both Stephane Sessegnon and Steven Fletcher have attracted inevitable interest with a double Gameweek looming. However, tonight provided more evidence that we must remain cautious on their potential. Martin O’Neill’s side laboured again, with the bulk of their efforts on goal fired in from range.

Kaspar Gorkss
The Latvian was presumably rested, with Adrian Mariappa drafted into the centre of the Reading back four. Brian McDermott’s decision to omit the senior member of his defence could be significant given that Sean Morrison retained his start. With Chris Gunter also rotated out, the security of starts in the Reading rearguard is again in question.

Julio Cesar
The Brazilian reportedly picked up a groin injury in the first half and was denied clean sheet returns with Robert Green taking over for the second period. He’ll presumably be an early doubt for the meeting with Villa this weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I bloody hate it when you spend 2 hours in a poker tournament playing good tight aggressive poker, only to get knocked out 2 places from the final table, beaten when you had the best of it, finish just outside the decent money, and only get back a couple of bucks more than the original buy in... pointless...

    Typical 888... 😡

    Rant over...

I play mostly cash games and tourneys... and sometimes double or nothing sit n go's... depends how I feel..

I won $30 in an hour playing in a cash game a few nights ago, the winnings there are slow and steady... I usually manage to finish top 5 quite easily on the double or nothing sit n go's to gain $10-20...

The good money is in the tourneys. Especially the rebuy/addon ones... I've never won one but I've finished 4th once and got $52... if I had won I would have got $450...

I've just started to be a more in the right direction recently ever since I started reading on poker, I'm still down from years of playing without a clue, but now I'm heading in the right direction... I love playing, I'm at it all the time... usually 6-8 hours a day...

        It's pretty addictive...

Sunderland have had a very poor attack all year. Not sure a DGW involving Chelsea is really worth it. They could just as easily draw 0-0 with Reading.

Aye get it done. Even if RVP scores well tonight there will bet times when Suarez and Aguero score 2 or 3 goals as well. Good long term move.

      yes for this week alone
      qpr away
stoke home (where he will not be regarded as a big guy)
and then pool and chelsea away are not the most encouraging fixtures

    Fed
    Rafael, Shawcross, Cuellar
    Caz, Bale, Morrison, Sterling
    RVP(C), Tevez(VC), Berba
    Subs: Foster, Maloney, Rangel, Haangeland

2xFT, any ideas on changes? I have 0.4M in the bank. I think my priorities are Foster, Hangeland and Maloney as they are injured/suspended

will do, but if no further injuries Foster->Mig/Ruddy should be worth doing as I don't fancy Fed away to Man U and Mig/Ruddy have some decentish fixtures for clean sheets

wait for tomorrow and then sell foster alone imo
hang is close to a return and u have good defensive cover
u have to eventually drop one of ur defender and dowgrade coz they are quite expensive
but id advise u to go next week with 2 FT

Yep I'll be getting him. I don't have Suarez though so hopefully Enrique and Sterling (at home) will mitigate that somewhat.

      Me too.

I'm thinking about it, but that will leave me with too much invested in defence.... Baines, Enrique, Mutherucker.

Unless I flog Baines, which I'm still undecided on.

I may wc ahead of gw17 however

I'm in a similar situation. Keep Baines or upgrade Davies. If I go for the upgrade I would have an rather expensive defense with Baines, Enrique, Caulker, Cameron. It would be easier if Baines does bad tomorrow and Enrique does well, then a straight swap would be more sensible.

All my planning went out the window last night and I'm left with the following squad:

    Jussi - Mignolet
Rangel - Cameron - Cuellar - Billy Jones - Shorey
    Pienaar - Sterling - Michu - Silva - Bale
    Ba - Berba - RVP

    3.2m in the bank

Do I need Suarez? If so, should I take a hit?
Can currently transfer Ba or Berba out.

Another aspect of the Enrique/Wisdom debate. You can bench Wisdom but you can't really bench Enrique for his price. This is a problem if you have 3 reds because you won't want to play 2 or 3 of them for all games.
