Tuesday’s matches lived up to expectations, as four sides low on confidence and fraught with stuttering form served up a single goal and limited returns. Here’s the Stock Check on this evening’s events…

On the Up

Christian Benteke
Thrown into the Scout Picks, the formidable Belgian striker delivered a third goal of the season to provide a vital winner for Villa. With Darren Bent kept in the stands, Benteke justified Paul Lambert’s faith in him with another muscular display. Maximum bonus beckons and it’s QPR and Stoke over the next two.

The Villa Defence
While Paul Lambert’s back four have conceded eight goals in their last five, all eight of those conceded came against United and City, meaning that the Villa back four have kept three clean sheets around those two matches. Three away games in the next four is an obstacle to investment, although their progress is clearly worth monitoring. Scout Pick Ciaran Clark has the goal threat to accompany defensive returns but he joined the suspension tightrope with his fourth booking tonight.

Adel Taarabt
There were question marks over the Moroccan’s role when Harry Redknapp took the reins but tonight’s showing indicated that Taarabt will remain a key figure and certainly QPR’s biggest threat and creative influence. While he drew a blank this evening, Fantasy managers will be monitoring his potential as QPR’s schedule improves.

Going Down

Sunderland’s Attack
With six goals in their last three matches, both Stephane Sessegnon and Steven Fletcher have attracted inevitable interest with a double Gameweek looming. However, tonight provided more evidence that we must remain cautious on their potential. Martin O’Neill’s side laboured again, with the bulk of their efforts on goal fired in from range.

Kaspar Gorkss
The Latvian was presumably rested, with Adrian Mariappa drafted into the centre of the Reading back four. Brian McDermott’s decision to omit the senior member of his defence could be significant given that Sean Morrison retained his start. With Chris Gunter also rotated out, the security of starts in the Reading rearguard is again in question.

Julio Cesar
The Brazilian reportedly picked up a groin injury in the first half and was denied clean sheet returns with Robert Green taking over for the second period. He’ll presumably be an early doubt for the meeting with Villa this weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    FREE RESPECT IF YOU COMMENT

    Improve my team pls :

    Ruddy / Guzan

    Enrique / Baines / Demel / Rafael / Clyne

    Silva / Bale / Cazorla / Sterling / Nolan

    Hernandez / Rooney / Lambert

Am liking the look of Giroud & the Swansea Hernandez. I have 1.1 in the bank. Just taken 1st place in my league for the first time & just breached the top 100,000 overall.

Am thinking hernandez > Giroud then Nolan > Swans Hernandez over the next 2 weeks. Or does my defence need work ?

      other two transfers sound good!

Then get in Hernandez so you can have two Hernandezes.

Then get in both Morrisons, and both Ferdinands, and......

For all those considering Enrique, including those wanting to get him in before the price rise (STOP YOU NUTTERS WHAT ARE YOU THINKING AT LEAST LET HIM PLAY FIRST) I posted a boring but hopefully comprehensive review of Enrique's gametime and positions for the 13 games so far this season.

NB: This was posted before Rodgers' comments about him at LF.

Cheers for the article, so after all that research.. are you considering getting him in as a great option especially when marked as a defender? or is the rotation risk too risky

Personally i think if Baines gets another blank, and Enrique plays left forward (which i think he will) i will do the swap, grab the money and spend it elsewhere 🙂

I have him pencilled in so long he starts at lf tomorrow and doesn't get injured of course. He'll be my Boyce replacement probably and play alongside Baines and Sagna most weeks. I've freed up funds to do this by going Puncheon and Sterling rotation in midfield.

I could also have the same back three with 1.3m in the bank, but would have to lose Cameron, or maybe downgrade a mid and get rid a McCartney.

Looking forward to having him in my team though, looked great against Chelsea and Wigan.

I saved a transfer this week so I think I can make it happen. Good luck, if you want him enough you'll find a way to get him 😆 I am very excited too. I see it as as Kolarov but even higher up the pitch , potentially plays every game and scores from open play. It could if course fail, but it's too expensive not to try.

Thanks for re-posting the summary. Interesting read. Enrique is lodged next to Kolarov for the time being, for mine. Massive potential when selected- too much an outlay (at >5.5) considering the (potential) rotation risk

I'd be happy to pay the premium of 0.2-0.4 increase to Enrique's current price, just to see how he's played over the next couple weeks by Rodgers, leading up to Xmas

Yep see it this way, we only have 6-7 GWs until the January WC becomes available when you can definitely fix any mistake, if not before. To get the best out of him it's best to hop on as soon as viable - I'd say if he starts tomorrow for the third consecutive time at lf, he is.

    2ft Rafael+Demel--> J.Enrique+B.Jones
would give 2 defenders with very good fixtrs and would give this starting defense for next week

    Bego(A WBA)
Sagna(H Swansea) J.Enrique(H Southampton), B.Jones(H Stoke) with Cameron and Gorkss(wich i'll try to upgrade before the DGW to Shorey) on the bench.

Thanks for your reply on my post eariler. Sorry I have to ask another question.

I have Demel to get rid of at some point. I could get Cuellar and B. Jones, instead of upgrading Santon to an Arsenal defender. Should I aim for that? Arsenal do have some nice fixtures though.

    Regardless of Isacki's fine post.

I just want to share a personal milestone for my season.

Since GW 1 I have had Simpson, and he has got me sod all and lost me 0.2million.

I just got rid of him for JEnrique, to beat the price rise. I know some say this is stupid and reckless an d he may get a red card or an injury, but I really wanted rid of Simpson and knew if I left it I would probably just ship out Pienaar and then think "oh i cant waste 4 pts on a defender"

    Simpson is GONE. YAHAY!!

If JE gets crooked tomorrow I can WC - would finally push me into doing it anyway.

    I am a happy manager.

Rodgers has introduced a new element to his team in recent weeks, with defender Jose Enrique being pushed forward into an attacking role - a move the manager believes suits all parties.

He reflected: "I think he's been outstanding and it's a great credit to him. He and I spoke earlier on in the season about trying to develop and improve his game.

"It's an interesting one because he's a real threat going forward with his pace and his power. You could see in the last three games how determined he is to get a goal.

"But you also see his defensive qualities because he's tracking back. He's been a real plus for us and it's great to see because he's worked very hard.

"It hasn't been easy for him but I think you've seen his commitment. How he's been working every day, you're seeing that now on the field.
Are you guys freakn serious? How can you doubt Enriques potential after these comments. Insane

"I'm delighted for him because he's good guy and he wants to do well for this club.

"Jose played in that position early on in his career but since he's come to this country he's played more as a full-back.

"You can see he's got the qualities to play the role - he is an offensive player who has got great pace and power, can take people on and he's a real threat when he gets into the final third.

"He's comfortable in the position, which is important, and it gives us that great thrust at the top end of the field."

Now then. Saints are not playing too badly and yet everyone is going Crazy to get Suarez and Enrique in for next week. I am not saying it is definately a bad move but if you already have Wisdom and/or Sterling as cover you could still invest elsewhere and spread the risk a little. Not a guaranteed mauling in my opinion........I think United will score more at Reading.

Yeah I'm pretty scared of having the 'Holy Trinity' of pool players if I was to get Enrique or Wisdom in as I already have Suarez and Sterling. History shows having too many pool players is usually a bad thing FPL wise.
