[sbu_large_image] The Stock Check

Tuesday’s matches lived up to expectations, as four sides low on confidence and fraught with stuttering form served up a single goal and limited returns. Here’s the Stock Check on this evening’s events…

On the Up

Christian Benteke
Thrown into the Scout Picks, the formidable Belgian striker delivered a third goal of the season to provide a vital winner for Villa. With Darren Bent kept in the stands, Benteke justified Paul Lambert’s faith in him with another muscular display. Maximum bonus beckons and it’s QPR and Stoke over the next two.

The Villa Defence
While Paul Lambert’s back four have conceded eight goals in their last five, all eight of those conceded came against United and City, meaning that the Villa back four have kept three clean sheets around those two matches. Three away games in the next four is an obstacle to investment, although their progress is clearly worth monitoring. Scout Pick Ciaran Clark has the goal threat to accompany defensive returns but he joined the suspension tightrope with his fourth booking tonight.

Adel Taarabt
There were question marks over the Moroccan’s role when Harry Redknapp took the reins but tonight’s showing indicated that Taarabt will remain a key figure and certainly QPR’s biggest threat and creative influence. While he drew a blank this evening, Fantasy managers will be monitoring his potential as QPR’s schedule improves.

Going Down

Sunderland’s Attack
With six goals in their last three matches, both Stephane Sessegnon and Steven Fletcher have attracted inevitable interest with a double Gameweek looming. However, tonight provided more evidence that we must remain cautious on their potential. Martin O’Neill’s side laboured again, with the bulk of their efforts on goal fired in from range.

Kaspar Gorkss
The Latvian was presumably rested, with Adrian Mariappa drafted into the centre of the Reading back four. Brian McDermott’s decision to omit the senior member of his defence could be significant given that Sean Morrison retained his start. With Chris Gunter also rotated out, the security of starts in the Reading rearguard is again in question.

Julio Cesar
The Brazilian reportedly picked up a groin injury in the first half and was denied clean sheet returns with Robert Green taking over for the second period. He’ll presumably be an early doubt for the meeting with Villa this weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Over the next few weeks, I want to try and get as many of Mata, Bale and Silva into my team as possible. How would you plan on doing this?

    Schwazer, Jaaskalinen
    Baines, Nelsen, Cuellar, McCartney, Wilkinson
    Ramirez, Cazorla, Hazard, Fellaini, Sterling
    Defoe, RVP, Crouch

    Thanks in advance!

Caz-Silva is the only way I can see without taking a few hits. Could always do RVP-> Rooney, Baines -> Enrique and then use that money to get Bale and Silva in and Hazard and Sterling/Ramirez out.

    Lost on last page:

Saints are not playing too badly and yet everyone is going Crazy to get Suarez and Enrique in for next week. I am not saying it is definately a bad move but if you already have Wisdom and/or Sterling as cover you could still invest elsewhere and spread the risk a little. Not a guaranteed mauling in my opinion……..I think United will score more at Reading.

Sure....thats understood. Suarez is a good option but not guaranteed huge points as everyone seems to be expecting and has the obvious suspension threat. Not convinced I can move Ba out when he is playing Wigan to get Suarez for a hit.

budget defences are getting cs's ... norwich, sunderland, stoke hell vill and qpr can keep a cs

you dont get serious goal threat like you do with more expensive ones, to me that should be more of a bonus than a reason to transfer in.

enrique playing where he is now, you would be daft not to get him in. he's playing as a winger, feeding a inform striker .

HaHa that's the thing, isn't it? It comes down to who you would prefer to back as the better alternative/who you'd rather have in your team

Can't fault either options, though. Much of a muchness

Aguero, it would seem, would/should be a less of a rotation risk than any other City forward

I don't even see how anyone with a brain could want to do this. Its not like he's gonna rise 0.3 before you can get him in. Its just 0.1 in value but could be a disaster if he gets hurt playing tomorrow and you already got rid of your heavy hitter in defence. Do not do this.

Any players in blue are on the + side of a move towards a rise. 100% = rise. Players can rise without achieving 100% when they have a particularly accelerated rate of transfers in.

The games tomorrow = possible injuries/possible doubts over things...more info. That's the only reason not to. If you want to risk it...be my guest. I've done plenty of those risky transfers this year so I'm not one to judge.

Yes, potential injuries are an issue, but the chances of them occurring are quite low.

Team at the moment for GW15 (BANK = £1.2m, 1 free transfer):

    Begovic(wba)
    Rafael(rdg) Santon(WIG) Baines(mci)
    Bale(ful) Silva(EVE) Sessegnon(nor) Sterling(SOU)
    Ba(WIG) Van Persie(rdg) Lambert(liv)

subs - Foster, Fellaini, Cuellar, Demel

I can't get Suarez without a 4 point hit (unless i sacrifice RVP) so what is the best course of action for this week?
    a) Lambert & Baines > Suarez & Nelsen (£4.1m DEF)
    b) Ba & Baines > Suarez & Enrique/Mertesacker (£6.3m DEF)
    c) not get Suarez!

This is of course all assuming Suarez doesn't get booked tomorrow against Spurs! What ya reckon?

Well considering all of this revolves around Suarez as you said you are best off watching the games. Imagine the scenario if a) he got booked or b) he didn't score/got injured. Basically just have to keep a close eye on developments tomorrow. Ba could score a hat trick and you'll be counting your lucky stars and never want to sell him.
