We’re now down to the final 32 as we roll out the sixth round draw of the Fantasy Football Scout Paddy Power Cup VII. The fixtures take place over the upcoming Gameweek 17 and we have four of the top 1,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers still in with a shout of the silverware.

World number three Iyad Zahlan remains our leading contender – he’s up against El Pieman, who sits in 1,178th position. Elsewhere, JMS, who is currently 203rd overall, MileHigh – in 437th position – and HongKong TractorBoys, who has moved up to 567th spot, are the three other big scalps on the line this weekend.

To blood sugar. Pardiola ALWAYS says that we are going to attack the big teams at home. But then we never do (man utd last season seems to have been an exception rather than the rule). And IF barfa misses out, we don't really have the tools available to attack them

Hi again old buddy. Newcastle get more and more morbidly interesting.

So pards STILL hasn't bit the bullet and is continuing to try to field both Ba and Cisse with disappointing results. Fulham was a perfect example to me, I think they started 4-4-2 with Cisse and Ba up front and not working together as usual, then they inexplicably went 4-5-1 with Cisse as a useless right midfielder, then 4-3-3 in the second half when you were looking to equalize and by the end I believe that 4-3-3 had morphed into a diamond with Ba and Ameobi the two strikers.

I think Pards at least got something out of that game which was trying various escape plans. I don't think the diamond was too bad actually and you had endorsed it.

Could it possibly work with Ba and Cisse? The man in the hole just behind them might get them the service they lack in the flat 4-4-2. Santon and Simpson madly overlapping as they have been recently, especially santon.

maybe his problem is he knows cisse and ba are both quality, both the kind of players who he needs to keep happy or their agents will start making phone calls.

His philosophy might be use'em or lose'em

He has a dilemma for sure... It is true that it isn't really working. He can't shove Ba back on the channels like last season because he is now the main source of goals!

Alreet mate. Not had a chat for a while. I would like to think that if we had got debuchy in the summer, then that would have been the formation that we would have tried. But Simpson is pretty hopeless at attacking, so it doesn't really work with him. Santon on the other hand has been our best player this season (along with ba). I would have tried the formation with ferguson at left back and santon at right back. But as we didn't then, we certainly won't for this coming run! I think that it is clear that cisse needs to be dropped until he finds form, and we play ba up front on his own, flanked by barfa and (probably) marveaux. But pardiola looks like he won't consider dropping him. Maybe because he knows ba will leave, so wants cisse in form by then. Maybe because he still dreams of the wonder partnership that the dembas COULD be. Who knows. But until we sort it out, there is only one way that we are going!

I'd like to see what you mentioned there: Barfa, Marveaux, Ba. Exciting trio right there.
Tiote + Anita + ? in midfield. Maybe Guttierez and Santon as attacking full backs? Who could that 1 midfielder be though with Cabaye missing? There is no-one else is there, basically forcing a 4-4-2.

Such a shame that vuckic is out for the season. This would have been his chance to shine in cabeye's position. The other options for centre mid would be jonas (he has played there a lot over the past year), but has been in RUBBISH form, or bigi (but that would be a VERY defensive trio, or marveaux (with sameobi or obertan in the forwards).

You might be onto something with jonas as attacking fullback. Why did I never think of that?? I'll get on the phone to pardiola right now!

I'd say you could solve the three midfielder dilemma by playing Anita as the attacking midfielder, Tiote and Gutierrez DMs, freeing up Marveaux and Barfa as wide forwards. Santon and Simpson (or Ferguson and Simpson as Mag suggess) can work with the wide forwards when you really need a go.

As I say I really think Anita's technique and awareness of space is wasted at DM. I believe he was used as an advanced midfielder against stoke.

Does Mrs China Mag ever log in or post comments of her own? Or does she even know you run a team in her name? 🙂 Must say that you seem to be unique in your openness about the whole "running two different teams in the league" thing. But to each his (her) (their) own. Good luck.

FWIW, to Mrs Mag, I gave up on the mirage that is Giroud and she could probably find a more productive third striker. Defoe maybe.

For "your" squad... any money on hand to squeeze a better defender option out of either Shorey or Nelson. They are both cheap, but both could get lit up.

Mrs China Mag at least pockets the mini league winnings! Keeps her happy(ish) about all the time I waste on here!

Yeah. She's thinking of dumping giroud for defoe or suarez. If for suarez, it would have to be for a hit, or do it next week and play giroud against reading. What do you reckon?

After getting bale for sessegnon, and downgrading santon after the QPR game, I will have some money to upgrade one of the cheapies. Waiting on news on the cheap stoke and west ham defenders

If she has the money to go RVP/Roo/Suarez that would be a luxury and I have to think Suarez more likely to produce against Villa after a week off than Giroud is on the road. I had been holding with Giroud because the fixtures seemed so nice, but have suffered for it. Suarez over Defoe, probably, but urgency not there. I guess if Giroud does squat against Reading, then we'll know he's just not ready for prime time. Going to Defoe instead of Suarez would let her find a midfielder that might be less of a question mark to pair with Michu as a steady choice.

Sounds fair for your plan on your defense. I fear you'll be cringing this weekend while watching the scores come in from QPR and Reading. Oh well, maybe it'll be Giroud who does the damage so the points come to the household for her squad at least... 🙂

Ha. I like your thinking on reading conceding!!

The move would be Mignolet + Giroud > Bunn + Suarez. Either this week for 4pts or next week for free. Her other keeper is begovic

Previously we would keep our players separate, she she wouldn't go for suarez as I have him, but that has gone out of the window now!

Do it next week for free. She can pretty much run with Begovic any week. They do have some of their tougher matches coming up, but they just don't seem to get lit up badly by anybody, and he's good enough of a keeper that the saves points help compensate even if the clean sheet doesn't come through.

I really don't think he's unplayably injured you know. I think Wenger is making stuff up so he can punish him for the contract impasse. Every time Walcott is out miraculously some useless deputy like Ramsey or Gervinho is ready to embarrass themselves. So it comes down to Wenger being desperate enough to play him. Frankly after Bradfordgate I think he might be. Probably should wait this week. If he does play he may slaughter reading... not for the first time

Cuellar>Sagna I think that is the move......not sure if i want to invest in Rafael....with Smalling and Jones back....could be rotation problems.

Cuellar to come back in WC.

I'Ve had terrible luck with Sagna so I'd say no, CF. He scored an astonishing 1, 1, 1, 0 and injured while I had him. Of course, as soon as I sold him he came back and kept a clean sheet.

I don't know how reliable these fan base accounts thing, but here some update about our favorite 5th Midfielder:

    Empire Of The Kop L.F.C.
Raheem sterling is set to be rested vs villa. Great news, as he was begining to tier and look too predictable.

How all of a sudden can fans tell if a player is going to be rested? I just do not get it. We study this league every week, and never can i remember a time where there was so much rumor about a HEALTHY player getting rested without any indication from his manager. It is not like it is Xmas yet. Did he have a mid week game?

    cuellar, hughes, baines
    sterling, michu, fellaini, HRK (doubt)
    rvp, suarez, fletcher

subs: ruddy, ridgewell (doubt), mata, clyne

have 1 FT, with transfer in my mind:

    A. fletcher -> defoe, HRK -> kaca/gera/other 5.4m midfielder? (-4 hit)
    B. ridgewell -> glen johnson, and play 4-3-3
    C. HRK -> morrison/duff/norwich midfielder/other 6.5m midfielder

popov may not play when ridgewell is fit. other options can be caulker/rafael/bassong. that is my concern as well, whether it is worth to have all suarez, sterling and g.johnson, but their fixtures looks good. plus compared to rafael who is under threat from smalling and jones, g.johnson looks secured at the back

It's a well known and very accurate theory, based on the bibs worn during training. As you can see in these pics, all the likely starters are in orange bibs and the reserves are in green bibs

          http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/Search/Search.aspx?EventId=158457630&EditorialProduct=Sport#

Sterling is in a green bib, so it is speculated that he won't be starting.

Apparently he was photographed in training this week wearing a bib that the reserves or squad members wear, not the first-teamers one. Hence bib theory. The Liverpool forum regulars seem to think he'll be rested as well.
