The Gameweek is brought to a close by one of the most memorable Fantasy hauls of this or any season, as Santi Cazorla orchestrates a mauling of Reading in front of their own fans. Here’s the Stock Check on Monday’s events at the Madjeski…

On the Up

Santi Cazorla
An incredible display by the Spaniard who, perhaps for one night only, turned his superb performance statistics into staggering returns. Our members will know all too well just how impressive Cazorla has been in terms of numbers and tonight he delivered on that promise with a midfield hat-trick haul that has surely cemented his place amongst the true heavy-hitters. Reading were woeful but Carzola punished them without mercy.

Theo Walcott
The night could have belonged to winger turned striker but, in the end, Walcott played second fiddle to the sparkling Santi. Regardless, Walcott’s move to the central striker role gave Arsenal menace up front and Theo came out with a goal to his name and facing the prospect of leading the line at Wigan at the weekend. There’s no way Cazorla owners will be making the switch just now but could their be a case for finding room for both of Wenger’s midfield assets in the short-term? We need to see this new look Arsenal against opposition less obliging than Brian McDermott’s side.

Kieran Gibbs
Arsenal conceded again but, with superior possession in matches, will inevitably keep clean sheets over the second half the season and Gibbs, as demonstrated tonight, can supplement this potential with attacking returns. More expensive that Bacary Sagna on the right, but perhaps more secure given that Thomas Vermaelen would seem set to remain at centre-back, Gibbs will earn new suitors off the back of tonight’s returns.

Lukas Podolksi
Quietly and efficiently, the German has shifted onto five goals and five assists for the season after tonight’s showing. Whilst the attention and investment will go the way of Arsenal’s midfield talent, Podolski deserves some praise for having seemingly adapted well to the Premier League stage and a role primarily out on the Gunners flank.

Going Down

Olivier Giroud
Relegated to the bench tonight, it seems unlikely that he’ll earn an immediate recall at Wigan and could now spend some time as a spectator whilst Arsenal drag themselves back into form and top four contention. Giroud has stalled again as a Premier League prospect and Fantasy asset in a less than convincing opening to his career in England.

The Reading Defence
It’s hard to sum up just how porous the Royals’ back four appeared at times. They have now conceded 13 goals in the last four league outings and it’s almost as easy as backing their opponents for three or four strikes every week. Reading go to City at the weekend, with Fantasy managers now desperately attempting to crowbar a secure City asset into their squad; easier said than done.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

repost. need some advice for my free double transfer guys…

    Foster Federici
    Baird GJohnson Clyne Nelsen BillyJones
    Santi Ajohnson Fellaini Michu Taarabt
    RVP Suarez Defoe

    .2 in bank, thinking:
    a) Fellaini RVP > Silva Rooney (free)
    b) Fellaini Ajohnson > Silva 5.2 mid (reading mid crazy if I bench them this wk? McAnuff/Kebe?)
    c) Fellaini > Yaya and save my 2nd transfer?

any other ideas? Cheers All !!!

Didn't receive any response to my post on the previous page. Please guys, help me decide because still don’t know who to pick from:

    Walker,Nastasic,Zabaleta and Gibbs…

Walker stats looks tasty in Mark’s Full Backs Assist Potential table…Nasta and Zaba have more chance for cleanie then him but there is always a rotation risk in MC…Gibbs is also a good option but its risky to get him now because of boxing day blank gwk…

Baines to Zabs/Nasty and Fella to Silva

Alternatively, Suarez to Tevez = no hit (my fave option)

Oh feck me ... and here we are, the only two blokes championing Tevez. With my luck, he goes off and I get no advantage from it 😆

Best luck. I'd be happy to lose 99-100 to you.

I've got Adel and Jason...and am playing Jason. Just learnt from last week when i benched taarabt who was at home, that you feel an idiot benching a home player when he does well, just play the home one to avoid feeling like you made the wrong decision I reckon.

Thanks Tayls you may be right, usuaslly I'd go that route but Adel certainly seems to be hitting some form and in his best position now, plus free kicks. Glad I git his haul this week, it burns having those returns on your bench. I copped it with rafa vs city 😡

Hmmm, we all agree city look better with Tevez and Aguero but that Robertotation is horrific.

Put it another way, to what extent can we rule out dzeko and Balo starting? Balo is currently going to tribunal with city so looks bad for him. Dzeko... hasn't done well from his starts (so I guess Mancini will have him pencilled in to start )

Ballo we can assume has finally put a nail in the patient manager. Think this will reflect on Tevez being more nailed on.

But City rotation is still a box of mysteries.

    Foster(NOR)

    Rafael(swa), Enrique(FUL), Cameron(tot)

    Bale(STO), Walcott(wig), Michu(MUN), Nolan(EVE)

    RVP(swa), Ba(QPR)vc, Tevez(RDG)c

    Subs: Sterling(FUL), Shorey(mci), Davies(mun)

All set to go for the weekend, subs captain etc?. Kind of a tough captaincy decision but surely you have to back anyone against the Reading defense?

This is what I'm seeing. That is quite a paltry amount. At least with Aguero you are looking at guaranteed game time and penalties.

    Can I just ask...

I know people are talking about how there isn't much between Aguero and Tevez and that perhaps Tevez is superior anyway. But in terms of game time, being nailed on and being on penalties...doesn't Aguero seem at least to have these advantages over Tevez?

Tevez has had much more gametime than Aguero in the PL this season. Although one has to consider how Aguero was used a lot in the CL. I think its a bit hard to tell who will get more game time over xmas. I reckon its too hard to tell and they will probably get a similar amount of game time.

Penalties - sure. But I personally think (meaning, Mancini may not agree) that Tevez is so much more important to the team.

Kun may be a better 'pure striker' but Tevez fulfills the Rooney role, dropping deep, playing defense ... he can change games. Kun is dependent on how the rest of the team plays. If they are flat, he is flat. That makes Tevez more necessary to the success of the team.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Anyone thinking of selling/benching berba this week, mark my words you'll regret it. As I said at the start of the season logic goes out the window when playing berbs in this game. The hardest games on paper is when he thrives and remember he has scored 4 at anfield before 😡 This pool fan will be anxiously watching the game waiting for the inevitable Berbatov masterclass 🙁
