The Gameweek is brought to a close by one of the most memorable Fantasy hauls of this or any season, as Santi Cazorla orchestrates a mauling of Reading in front of their own fans. Here’s the Stock Check on Monday’s events at the Madjeski…

On the Up

Santi Cazorla
An incredible display by the Spaniard who, perhaps for one night only, turned his superb performance statistics into staggering returns. Our members will know all too well just how impressive Cazorla has been in terms of numbers and tonight he delivered on that promise with a midfield hat-trick haul that has surely cemented his place amongst the true heavy-hitters. Reading were woeful but Carzola punished them without mercy.

Theo Walcott
The night could have belonged to winger turned striker but, in the end, Walcott played second fiddle to the sparkling Santi. Regardless, Walcott’s move to the central striker role gave Arsenal menace up front and Theo came out with a goal to his name and facing the prospect of leading the line at Wigan at the weekend. There’s no way Cazorla owners will be making the switch just now but could their be a case for finding room for both of Wenger’s midfield assets in the short-term? We need to see this new look Arsenal against opposition less obliging than Brian McDermott’s side.

Kieran Gibbs
Arsenal conceded again but, with superior possession in matches, will inevitably keep clean sheets over the second half the season and Gibbs, as demonstrated tonight, can supplement this potential with attacking returns. More expensive that Bacary Sagna on the right, but perhaps more secure given that Thomas Vermaelen would seem set to remain at centre-back, Gibbs will earn new suitors off the back of tonight’s returns.

Lukas Podolksi
Quietly and efficiently, the German has shifted onto five goals and five assists for the season after tonight’s showing. Whilst the attention and investment will go the way of Arsenal’s midfield talent, Podolski deserves some praise for having seemingly adapted well to the Premier League stage and a role primarily out on the Gunners flank.

Going Down

Olivier Giroud
Relegated to the bench tonight, it seems unlikely that he’ll earn an immediate recall at Wigan and could now spend some time as a spectator whilst Arsenal drag themselves back into form and top four contention. Giroud has stalled again as a Premier League prospect and Fantasy asset in a less than convincing opening to his career in England.

The Reading Defence
It’s hard to sum up just how porous the Royals’ back four appeared at times. They have now conceded 13 goals in the last four league outings and it’s almost as easy as backing their opponents for three or four strikes every week. Reading go to City at the weekend, with Fantasy managers now desperately attempting to crowbar a secure City asset into their squad; easier said than done.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Goooooood morning! Cazorla and RVP (c) broke me into the top 100k for the first time this season, and in my life (first season I'm playing more than the first GW). Thanks for all the good feedback guys! 185k -> 85k in 3 weeks, hopefully will continue.

Lost at the bottom of the last page. Help, guys!

    Bego McCarthy

    Demel Enrique Rafael Olsson Cuellar

    Bale Michu Nolan Snodgrass Robson-Kanu

    Rooney Ba RvP

Need City coverage against Reading! And at a loss at how to do that.

Thinking Rafael > Zabaleta for starters. Any suggestions?

Nolan > Yaya ? Would prefer Silva but don’t see how I could get him.

    Have 1.8 banked.

Zaba -> Rafael looks very reasonable if you consider the starting regularity, CS possibility and their price difference. I would do this trade myself, but not if (1) you have bought Rafael when he was $5.7 or lower or (2) need a 4 point hit

Nolan -> Yaya looks a very short-term investment. Other than the upcoming Reading game, Yaya could easily score less than Nolan afterwards. I am not sure when you bought Nolan but the best time to sell him should be after GW9. Quite surprise you consider to dump him now coz in contrary we should consider to buy him!

If you need City cover, Zaba is the better choice. I would rather sell Ba to get Tevez but not Nolan to Yaya.

I've had Rafael since the start. And Nolan. They're the only two players who I've had since GW1.

Getting rid of Nolan after GW9 was the initial plan, but got distracted by other more pressing matters and didn't do it. Then he scored against Newcastle, and I decided that as far as Nolan was concerned, form > fixtures. Didn't work out well for me, that one. The only reason I'm considering getting rid of Nolan is the need for City coverage.

Ba's been performing quite consistently, even with Newcastle's poor form. So Ba>Tevez isn't really an option for me.

Was on the Cazorla slingshot ride myself, but can't help feel slightly dirty about it all. Wonder if I signed my soul away somewhere in the FPL EULA.

    My team for this week:

    Foster
    Baines / G.Johnson / Vertonghen
    Silva (c) / Dempsey / Walcott / Taarabt
Suarez (vc) / Torres / Defoe

    Begovic / Puncheon / Nelsen / Shorey

I really have having Puncheon at home to Sunderland on the bench but just can't justify dropping any of my other midfielders or forwards can I?

hmmm, need to pick ppl's brains

    begovic (mannone)
    rafael enrique demel davies cueller
    fellaini michu cazorla sess sterling
    berbs suarez rvp

So obviously i need to get rid of fellaini....here are the options:
    A: fellaini + sess >>> silva + any mid upto 6......taking a hit
    B: fellaini + enrique >>> silva + any def upto 4.9......taking a hit
    C: fellaini + berb >>> any mid upto 6 + tevez/torres.........taking a hit
D: fellaini >> cheap mid and next week sess >> bale…NO hit. I like this option as I will field michu, cazorla, sess, sterlin…bt not having any city/chel/spur players this week worry me

I was initially leaning towards downgrading fellaini and upgrading berbs but i think in the 7m range, berbs is far greater value then a mid for 7m coupled with the fact that i dont think there is a massive difference between a 9,5m mid and a 9.5m striker....so yeah, its either option A or B

    Thoughts?

    A) Giroud –> Ba

    B) Giroud -->Tevez

    B) Cuellar –> Nelsen | Giroud –> Aguero (-4pts)

    C) Keep Giroud

Take your pick guys, i have Silva only for City and no Arsenal

If you don't want to do the boring Yaya-route with your Fellaini-trade (Yaya doesn't have enough threat IMO), what options are there really? I'm seriously looking at Taraabt for his value, and QPR said they're not affected by the tube strike. No way I'm getting a Southhampton player until it's confirmed they don't miss out.

QPR aren't exactly scoring freely, but I think Taraabt will get a big chunk of that. Realistically, what other good options are there BELOW 8.0M? Man, can't wait for the article. I wanted Nolan, but tube strike might hit West Ham. Agh. Norwich has horrid fixtures.

Pienaar boring, not much of a goal-threat unless he's moved to the hole, but that's a gamble. I'm not back to Yaya, I'm on Taraabt at the moment. Unless Southampton are guaranteed their boxing day fixture, then it's probably Puncheon.

I've not got him in as I could afford Silva but I wouldn't say it's points chasing. He has a good scoring record, has an ideal fixture and, at the very worst, will pick his owners up 0.1 or 0.2M in a short space of time. What's not to like?
