The Gameweek is brought to a close by one of the most memorable Fantasy hauls of this or any season, as Santi Cazorla orchestrates a mauling of Reading in front of their own fans. Here’s the Stock Check on Monday’s events at the Madjeski…

On the Up

Santi Cazorla
An incredible display by the Spaniard who, perhaps for one night only, turned his superb performance statistics into staggering returns. Our members will know all too well just how impressive Cazorla has been in terms of numbers and tonight he delivered on that promise with a midfield hat-trick haul that has surely cemented his place amongst the true heavy-hitters. Reading were woeful but Carzola punished them without mercy.

Theo Walcott
The night could have belonged to winger turned striker but, in the end, Walcott played second fiddle to the sparkling Santi. Regardless, Walcott’s move to the central striker role gave Arsenal menace up front and Theo came out with a goal to his name and facing the prospect of leading the line at Wigan at the weekend. There’s no way Cazorla owners will be making the switch just now but could their be a case for finding room for both of Wenger’s midfield assets in the short-term? We need to see this new look Arsenal against opposition less obliging than Brian McDermott’s side.

Kieran Gibbs
Arsenal conceded again but, with superior possession in matches, will inevitably keep clean sheets over the second half the season and Gibbs, as demonstrated tonight, can supplement this potential with attacking returns. More expensive that Bacary Sagna on the right, but perhaps more secure given that Thomas Vermaelen would seem set to remain at centre-back, Gibbs will earn new suitors off the back of tonight’s returns.

Lukas Podolksi
Quietly and efficiently, the German has shifted onto five goals and five assists for the season after tonight’s showing. Whilst the attention and investment will go the way of Arsenal’s midfield talent, Podolski deserves some praise for having seemingly adapted well to the Premier League stage and a role primarily out on the Gunners flank.

Going Down

Olivier Giroud
Relegated to the bench tonight, it seems unlikely that he’ll earn an immediate recall at Wigan and could now spend some time as a spectator whilst Arsenal drag themselves back into form and top four contention. Giroud has stalled again as a Premier League prospect and Fantasy asset in a less than convincing opening to his career in England.

The Reading Defence
It’s hard to sum up just how porous the Royals’ back four appeared at times. They have now conceded 13 goals in the last four league outings and it’s almost as easy as backing their opponents for three or four strikes every week. Reading go to City at the weekend, with Fantasy managers now desperately attempting to crowbar a secure City asset into their squad; easier said than done.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Regulars, the Grav-less, the trolls*; please help me with this.

Really thinking about hitting that WC button tonight.

    Players I want rid of:

    Shorey
    Dempsey
    Berba
    Ramirez
    Krul
    Sterling
    Fellaini

I could drag out the Jan WC and use it on the last GW possible.

Really need some help here! 🙁

    *actually, leave out the trolls

I'd hold off. Nothing a 4 point hit couldn't solve if you're that desperate. Especially with potential for cancelled London games over the holidays. That extra wc could be a thing of beauty down the road.

In similar situation, it's a tricky call. I wouldn't though WCs are hit and miss at the best of times and with one round the corner you may regret it come GW 30 and you're in a similar mess.

Id feel very good about keeping Shorey, Ramirez, Sterling(if under 5 mil) also Berba and Demps could be ok.

I think the timing is horrible and given the rotation that will happen all round it could fail horribly.

Think you should drag it out, have a number of those players myself but not keen to use a wildcard with the Xmas W/C due after gmwk 21, why not do a couple of 4pt hits over the next two gmwks.

Shorey is what ? Your 4th/5th defender?
Dempsey is fine and easy to ditch, Berbatov has good fixtures and there are no clear replacements. Krul is a keeper who can play this week and be benched for 2 GW's. Ramirez is fine, at elast for this week, as is Sterling. Ditch Fellaini and youll be fine. There is onl a few gameweeks until you can WC anyway.

They're definitely striking and it definitely won't go ahead if they are, so yes I'd say definitely.

Was at the game tonight and no one seemed to think there was any chance of it being played!

Hmmm. From what I recall the RMT threaten strikes every year, does not always happen.

These are the sort of weeks in which I wish I had a Serbian Wing-back from Manchester City playing against the worst defence in the Premier League.....

    Any ideas?

    Ok guys...

    A) Giroud > Tevez (No hit)

    B) Giroud > Tevez
    Fell > Yaya (-4pt hit)

Have to do it tonight as it leaves me with 0 in the bank and Yaya is rising..

    Cheers! 🙂

I will probably have to get Sagna, as I can only afford gibbs if I make my transfers tonight

I do see him benched in 1 of their home games tho
