[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

A trio of protagonists are set to sit out their respective sides’ upcoming domestic fixtures after the weekend’s action. Steve Sidwell and Youssouf Mulumbu both picked up their fifth cautions of the campaign and are unavailable for Gameweek 18, while Gary Cahill’s dismissal in Chelsea’s World Cup Championship loss to Corinthians will earn him a one-match ban for the Blues’ midweek Capital One Cup trip to Leeds:

Sidwell’s suspension curtails his recent rise to form – the midfielder has returned a goal and assist over his last couple for Fulham, while tough-tackling Mulumbu’s loss is likely to have a knock-on effect for James Morrison. With Claudio Yacob remaining a doubt for West Brom, Morrison looks set to continue in a deeper-lying role as Norwich roll up to the Hawthorns next Saturday.

Cahill’s clash with Emerson, which led to his red card, is set to be reviewed by FIFA’s disciplinary committee this week. While they could potentially increase the ban, it is not expected to be extended, meaning he will be available for the home clash against Villa next Sunday.

Elsewhere, the tightrope welcomes five new members after their weekend indiscretions. Mike Williamson, Adel Taarabt, Billy Jones, Kevin Nolan and Jermain Defoe must now be on their best behaviour over the next three Gameweeks – another caution will earn them an automatic one-match ban before the limit is extended to 10 yellows at the New Year.

Heading into this evening’s match at the Madejski, there are five players currently sitting on three yellows apiece. Olivier Giroud, Thomas Vermaelen, Noel Hunt, Mikele Leigertwood and Adrian Mariappa are all just one caution away from joining the above-mentioned players on the tightrope as the festive period picks up in pace.

The main topic of contention this week, however, is the possible ban facing Marouane Fellain after his headbutt on Ryan Shawcross in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at the Britannia. If the FA decide to act, as expected, it remains to be seen just how many matches he could potentially miss – David Moyes has already admitted Everton won’t contest any charge. Behind the scenes, we’re making tentative plans for a Fellaini suspension, with an article set to follow later this week on the myriad of exit routes available should he fall foul of the authorities.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    A) Fellaini > Mata/Bale
    B) Fellaini > Tarrabt
    C) Fellaini + Sess > Mata/Bale + Tarrabt (-4 Hit)

My Front 8 is: Silva, Michu, Fellaini, Sess, Sterling, RVP, Suarez, Berb
Also plan on getting rid of Sess next gw but im struggling to find a replacement?

I'm also a villa fan and because we have been running the 352 formation as of late, the 3 center backs have been Herd Clark and Baker, Clark being the most nailed on of the three. All three have been really impressive so I don't think Vlaar will go straight back into the team however he will shortly after, but I would probably say for Herd. In my opinion Baker has been the most solid out of the three since Vlaar's injury he is an absolute tank!

    Aguero/Tevez – RDG, sun, nor

    Berbs – liv, SOT, SWA

Not sure whether to keep Berbs or make the swap. Fixtures slightly back Berba, form backs the other two. other factor come into play like not having as strong a midfield if I go for Aguero. It’s becoming hard to keep backing Berbatov though, 6 blanks, dropping in price, Fulham looking poor.

Fixtures only really come into play if he's playing for a good side though no? At the moment Fulham have to be near the bottom of the form table. He didn't have a single effort on goal against QPR.

i have to replace Fellaini….i have 8.9 to spend so Walcott or Yaya. However, i could stretch that to 9.5 or so by downgrading Rafael to someone cheaper. My main question is
Is it worth getteting Walcott over Santi or Yaya over Silva. I figured out that i will have to get rid of Rafael pretty soon because Vidic is also back.

Just been having a look at this Fantasy Overlord, it seems pretty good. IT does have flaws though and it seems to predict Norwich will do better than anyone over these fixtures:

    West Brom (A)
    Chelsea (H)
    Man City (H)
    West Ham (A)
    Newcastle (H)

I'm definitely, making my own, including performance tests and fitness functions so it constantly improves over time.

    Jaask
    Enrique - Sagna - Clyne
    Mata - Silva - Michu - Sterling
    RvP - Suarez - Berba
    Federici - Cameron, Demel, Fellaini
    1FT and 0.2 in bank

A - Is this team ok for next GW???? Can I save FT for next and than do Fellaini and Enrique TO Bale and Nelsen?? (it is possible even if Fella drop 0.3 this week). I have Cameron as first reserve in case of Sterling rested...

B - Fellaini to Puncheon this week and play him instead Sterling, and see what to to another week with that 3.2 in bank and 1 FT again?

    Begovic / Foster
    Rafael / Shorey / Nelsen / Cuellar / Demel
    Nolan / Mata / Puncheon / Fellaini / Sessegnon
Suarez / Rooney / Van Persie

1 FT, £0.8m in the bank.

I'm doing Fellaini & Foster --> Silva & Bunn tonight before Fella drops.
    Any thought ?

Surely striking so often is going to put the workers in a nett deficit at some point?

FAO people discussing the tube strike on the last page: looks like there's no First Capital Connect trains on Boxing Day, so if the tube goes down I think that means Finsbury Park station is out of action.

I live 5 minutes from the ground and since I'm away for Christmas I've decided to offer my flat to Cazorla for the night to make sure he can get there safely.

What to do with Fellaini (and HRK)

Fellaini > Young (have Rooney & RVP) or Oscar (rotation)

or Fellaini & HRK to a 12.7m combo of any of these:

    Lennon 7m
    Nolan 6.8m
    Wilshere 6.4m
    G Ramirez 5.8m
    Taarabt 5.6m
    Puncheon 4.7m

Other mids are Sidwell, Silva and Michu

Currently leaning towards Gaston & Adel, but then my midfield has a lot of lowly players.

The only way i can get Mata without changing my front 3 RVP Suarez Rooney would be by doing Gibbs > Demel/Nelson

    Hey folks

I have 1 FT and £0.5m in the bank.

    Begovic, Ruddy

    Nelsen, Enrique, Demel, Cuellar, Gorkks

    Sessegnon, Michu, Bale, Fellaini, Sterling

    RVP, Aguero, Suarez

Thinking of doing a -4 bringing in Mata and Clark/Clyne for Fellaini and Enrique?

    Thoughts please?
    Thank you!!

In answer to the questions as to whether strike affects other games.

Ultimately it is a policing and logistics decision. Higher proportion or people using tube. Emirates 60,000 capacity. Even chelsea and spurs only 40,000. That extra third makes the difference to decision.
Also in the past it has been the Arsenal game affected alone. Other clubs have decided to go ahead. In reality it is likely on Arsenal game postponed.
