Eight Premier League fixtures get underway at the DW Stadium where Wigan host an Arsenal side fresh from the thrashing of Wigan at the Madjeski. The Latics, with injuries biting, will be wary of an Arsene Wenger side armed with the pace of Theo Walcott up front, fed by Santi Cazorla’s midfield scheming. Fantasy managers, meanwhile, will be dreaming of even a fraction of the returns provided by the Gunners on Monday night.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open soak up the emotions from this match and the seven other Premier League encounters throughout the day, culminating in Liverpool’s Anfield clash with Fulham.

The team news from the DW finds Arsenal, not surprisingly, unchanged, giving Walcott another run at an ailing defence as he attempts to justify the new faith shown in him by Wenger. As for Wigan, they have to patch up once more: Adrian Lopez is the latest defensive casualty so it looks as though Dave Jones will be deployed in defence today, with Shaun Maloney and Franco Di Santo returning to the starting lineup having been introduced from the bench in the defeat at Carrow Road. Jordi Gomez and our friend Mauro Boselli drop to the bench for the Latics.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

🙄 Yeah, right. You and all the other lunatic Dzeko owners can continue with this "we're glad he didn't start" noise ... but it's just silly.

As did I, always felt he was a bit unfortunate because Fabregas came on the scene so soon after him. Think he could have deserved to be playing with the Gunners for a good few seasons.

An interesting point I'd like to raise..

I know it's only half time and I could be making a non-point but has anybody else ever taken in to consideration the effect the weather has on games?

Watching Saints vs Sunderland now and the quality of football has really suffered, lots of mistakes made and possession being lost too easily. Equally do you think a team like City would have perhaps had a brighter first half against Reading if there wasn't torrential rain?

I wonder if there's any correlation in low scoring weekends and torrential rain/horrendous weather. Perhaps it's something we overlook on fantasy football a bit? If you think about it, South American stars like Silva, Tevez and Aguero - are they really going to play to the same level in this weather? Whereas Reading players like Jay Tabb etc will be accustomed to it and relishing it perhaps..

      Just a thought..

You do get to play in rain in Spain as well. Silva is a great long passer, that's more important than the country of origin. It's just harder because Reading puts many players in front of the goal, so City has to play on little space. I don't think the City players are worse today than on any other day.

Yeh perhaps it isn't linked to the warmer climates then but there definitely seems to always be less goals when it is lashing it down. Defenses are tighter and final balls are harder to player.

Should I do Rafael + Walcott -> Mata + Stam for a hit?

budget defence is the way to go, but seriosuly don't wc, only 2 more GWs till the jan one is available. it's a waste of a wc IMO

My budget defence has served me very well, surprisingly it's even doing a bit of a job this week. It's the way to go!

If City mess up & RVP delivers, I would be delighted.
