Liverpool pick themselves up from last week’s defeat by Villa to sweep aside an insipid Fulham at Anfield. Steven Gerrard, Stewart Downing and Martin Skrtel all register Fantasy Premier League (FPL) double figure returns as the Reds move up to eighth in the table:

On the Up

Steven Gerrard
A goal and two assists against Fulham this evening was the Liverpool skipper’s highest haul of the campaign so far, with maximum bonus points also likely to follow. Gerrard has now scored or assisted in three of the Reds’ four games since the return of Lucas to the midfield – a clear sign of the Brazilian’s impact on his Fantasy prospects.

Stewart Downing
The former Middlesbrough and Villa man had deputised for Jose Enrique at left-back last weekend but with the Spaniard fit and available, Downing was shifted to the right of the front three. A goal and assist highlighted his potential if given a consistency of game time – he has now started five of the last six for the Reds.

Liverpool Defence
The Reds recovered from last week’s home loss to Villa to register their fifth clean sheet in the last seven at Anfield. Although Glen Johnson’s recent run of attacking returns came to an end, Jose Enrique’s assist for Luis Suarez’s late goal means the Spaniard has averaged 10 points per game over his last four at home, while Martin Skrtel’s opener took his tally to 64 points – just two less than Johnson for the season so far.

Luis Suarez
It looked set to be another frustrating afternoon for the Uruguayan’s owners but he returned to goalscoring ways for the first time since Gameweek 12 with a last-minute strike sealing an emphatic win for the hosts. While a trip to Stoke could pose problems, the Reds then face QPR and Sunderland, handing Suarez the chance to continue his return to form.

Going Down

Raheem Sterling
Brendan Rodgers had hinted in midweek the teenager was looking a little fatigued of late and the Liverpool boss backed up his threat by resting Sterling against the Cottagers. The winger was on the bench for the first time since breaking into the first XI back in Gameweek 2 and, although he managed a brief sub appearance late on, with Downing in form and Suso impressing, Sterling’s guaranteed game time may yet come into question.

Dimitar Berbatov
Handed a lone forward role as Martin Jol rolled out a 4-5-1, the Bulgarian dropped deeper after the break as the visitors moved to 4-4-2 in order to chase a two-goal deficit. His short-term fixtures look superb (SOU, SWA, wba, WIG) but with blanks in each of his last seven, Berbatov is severely trying the patience of his 10.7% FPL owners.

Fulham Defence
Four goals conceded took their total to 33 against – only Reading and Wigan have shipped more. Martin Jol’s side have now conceded 22 on the road, the worst defensive away record in the league – those above-mentioned three home games are becoming more crucial than ever if Fulham are to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle; they have won just once in the last 10 matches.

I'm torn over keeping or shipping Rafael, just how serious is his injury, ideally I would keep but games come in very quick succession over xmas meaning he could easily miss out on Uniteds so called easy fixtures, I would be more confident in shipping for Evans if the threat of Vidic wasn't there, but Fergie is bound to rotate, anyone want to shed any light on this matter.

Hold off on that one. fergie saying the other day how he is unsure Vidic is capable of starting a game - which pretty much means he ain't fit yet. Few weeks time yes.

Tomorrow may tell us a lot be interesting to see if Vidic starts, my cup opponent has Ferdinand so would love to see him miss out as he would get Shorey off the bench

But Vidic will surely be rotated as well and therefore will be in the same predicament as with Rafael, think the safest option is Evra but he is out of price range

And if he played, say, 2 of 3 fixtures and scored an average of 5 points in each of those games, would that be enough?

Valencia + Yaya > Bale + another mid, how much u got left over for the second mid?
      Yaya + Raphael > Bale + Defender

The reason you might wanna keep Valencia is Uniteds next 2 fixtures are clearly good and he could be an excellent differential!

What is the deal with BAPS at the moment by the way - at start of season they were coming in real fast after the games, now they seem to take longer. Is it consistent when they are added? I can;t say I have really been paying proper attention.

Want to bring Michu and Benteke in. Should I give Berba a few more weeks? His fixtures look good and the form will pick up soon. When is Ruiz due back? Also, how and should I try get Michu in? Vsing Reading next.

          sorry.

Michu is kind of a good player, but your team looks pretty damn good anyway, and your rank is not exactly lacking.

You could lose Berba for Benteke and Rafael fro a cheap defender and might be able to squeeze him in.

Certainly there arent many forwards doing as well as Michu at the moment, right?

Benteke can wait after Villa v Spurs. Just waiting on Rafa injury news. Well sell if he is injured for the next GW. But he price is dropping tonight so I'm unsure whether to sell now or after and for who. And Michu and Bale are also one yellow away from a red and if that happens, I'd be kicking myself. Better to avoid that and hope Michu doesn't do well against Reading?

    Let's talk Aguero.

I've had him in my team for 9 GWs now and his returns have been shocking. 1 goal in his last 6 games. Admittedly 3 of these were che, MUN and EVE but you pay the lofty price for a player like Aguero because you expect him to return well no matter the opponent.

Do I get rid of him due to lack of returns, or have I had him so long that I'm only tempting fate by taking him out just before a long overdue run of form? He's a fantastic player, it just isn't bringing in goals at the moment. What's to be done with him?
