Liverpool pick themselves up from last week’s defeat by Villa to sweep aside an insipid Fulham at Anfield. Steven Gerrard, Stewart Downing and Martin Skrtel all register Fantasy Premier League (FPL) double figure returns as the Reds move up to eighth in the table:

On the Up

Steven Gerrard
A goal and two assists against Fulham this evening was the Liverpool skipper’s highest haul of the campaign so far, with maximum bonus points also likely to follow. Gerrard has now scored or assisted in three of the Reds’ four games since the return of Lucas to the midfield – a clear sign of the Brazilian’s impact on his Fantasy prospects.

Stewart Downing
The former Middlesbrough and Villa man had deputised for Jose Enrique at left-back last weekend but with the Spaniard fit and available, Downing was shifted to the right of the front three. A goal and assist highlighted his potential if given a consistency of game time – he has now started five of the last six for the Reds.

Liverpool Defence
The Reds recovered from last week’s home loss to Villa to register their fifth clean sheet in the last seven at Anfield. Although Glen Johnson’s recent run of attacking returns came to an end, Jose Enrique’s assist for Luis Suarez’s late goal means the Spaniard has averaged 10 points per game over his last four at home, while Martin Skrtel’s opener took his tally to 64 points – just two less than Johnson for the season so far.

Luis Suarez
It looked set to be another frustrating afternoon for the Uruguayan’s owners but he returned to goalscoring ways for the first time since Gameweek 12 with a last-minute strike sealing an emphatic win for the hosts. While a trip to Stoke could pose problems, the Reds then face QPR and Sunderland, handing Suarez the chance to continue his return to form.

Going Down

Raheem Sterling
Brendan Rodgers had hinted in midweek the teenager was looking a little fatigued of late and the Liverpool boss backed up his threat by resting Sterling against the Cottagers. The winger was on the bench for the first time since breaking into the first XI back in Gameweek 2 and, although he managed a brief sub appearance late on, with Downing in form and Suso impressing, Sterling’s guaranteed game time may yet come into question.

Dimitar Berbatov
Handed a lone forward role as Martin Jol rolled out a 4-5-1, the Bulgarian dropped deeper after the break as the visitors moved to 4-4-2 in order to chase a two-goal deficit. His short-term fixtures look superb (SOU, SWA, wba, WIG) but with blanks in each of his last seven, Berbatov is severely trying the patience of his 10.7% FPL owners.

Fulham Defence
Four goals conceded took their total to 33 against – only Reading and Wigan have shipped more. Martin Jol’s side have now conceded 22 on the road, the worst defensive away record in the league – those above-mentioned three home games are becoming more crucial than ever if Fulham are to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle; they have won just once in the last 10 matches.

Uefa Council guys, what happens to those of us snuggled safely in mid-table, we just retain our place in the league? Loving the live tables too, great stuff...

Last 6 GWs in the comparison stats:

    Ba 2-8 Benteke

Combined with their opposite run of fixtures - think I'm pulling the trigger now

Most of those stats dont matter though. Ba is still getting more shots, shots on target, in box etc. But Benteke does look a better assist threat)...tough one but Ba is a much better finisher too.

    Hi all,
    Need some opinions...
I'm shipping out Santi for Boxing Day, and have to decide on:
    Mata vs Bale vs Hazard
My mind has been set on Mata this week..
Do I buy him right now before his price rises, and risk injury/suspension tonight vs Villa?
Or wait till tomorrow/later in the week, and buy Mata for 9.6m instead?
Unsure over Bale with 4 yellows - looks like he was lucky to avoid another yellow for diving - and unsure over his injury and rapid games...

Nor home fixture. Holt back for that game. Norwich tails up.

Second keeper trying his balls off to prove himself.

It's like a better option than Reading had today (away) against Citeh.)
      so Bunn.

Well he isn't gonna play for a couple of weeks who can afford to have that kind of money sat on their bench((although I obviously have but we wont go into that. Depends a bit upon who else you have. Ashley Young or Bale maybe. Pienaar seems to be turning it on now too

I have Bale. Peinaar could be an option. Ashley Young sure to play after Kagawa returns from injury (Which is expected on 26th)?

    bego (McCarthy*)
    enrique bassong nelsen (shorey o'brien*)
    mata michu yaya sterling (walcott*)
    ba RVP Suarez

    1FT, 1.3m ITB.

    A) walcott > bale & bench sterling (but i will end up with no ARS player)
    B) ba > benteke (and have enouh money to do yaya>santi/bale & prepare for DGW)
    C) do the unthinkable ba > torres

Torres is now definitely an attacking threat under Benetiz. Mata could provide the assist for Torres's goal!

Do you need to ditch Ba? He is still a great pick I dont get why everyone is itching to ditch, he scored vs City just last week and grabbed 2 vs United last season when they were far tougher defensively than they are now. 😕

because he didn't score last night, less creativity behind him (Cabaye & HBA out) and will face MANU & ARS away next. yep, i mght stick if not for the temptation of bringing back santi or bale.

oh, i had actually forgotten to add the option D) save FT.

Still had 8 shots on goal and has "lacked creativity" for a while. I dont think United and Arsenal are that bad a fixture for strikers.
Maybe save and re-asses with 2 frees?

I've been smashed in the first round of the Cup by a Ghost Ship team ranked 2,400,000 with no trades made...
    Fellaini (c) with RVP (vc)...
Stacked defence - clean sheets everywhere - including Skrtel (12 points) coming in for Fellaini...and Pienaar
I even scored 44 points on an average of 24 points
    It's a shame - I love a good cup run...
Life is tough in the Cup!!!

GL. I am in the anti club. Wanted him to fail from day one. FF reasons of course but I think there were other reasons to neglect his over priced head.
Glad It's proving correct _ Roon is all you need from Utd attack. unless you want to gamble on both(undecided on that ploy in the long run)

Love RVP as a player and he's done things with the ball this season that makes me warm inside.

However this isn't Ars any more and his freedomn and abound no longer is a silk sail on a dead sea.
