Our second preview movie of the Rate My Team tool, arriving soon in the members area, gets to the juicy bit. In this movie you’ll see how Rate My Team can help you analyse your existing Fantasy Premier League squad, provide you with roadmap for your team selections and captain choices, and allow you to model a new squad for your January Wildcard.

Chris Atkinson, the creator of the Rate My Team model, again joins me for this movie, be sure to check out our first effort here for some further background on Rate My Team.

What is Rate My Team?
Rate My team is a statistical model built specifically to assess every player in the Premier League and return their expected values for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points in a given Gameweek. The system is a complex and thorough one which, of course, plots the probabilities of a player’s time on the pitch, their expected number of goals, assists, bonus points, yellow and red cards, clean sheets, own goals, goals conceded and saves. The strength of the opponent they are facing in a given Gameweek is also crucial; so every team has a attacking, defensive rating, every player a probability of playing a given match with injuries, suspensions and international absence factored in.

You can find out more about Rate My Team here, or, of course, in the movie below.

How Can It Help Me?
If you’re a member you can use the Rate My Team tool in a number of ways. Firstly, you can use it as a projections tool to predict what specific players will score, on average, over the next X number of Gameweeks. As you would have seen in our first movie, you have a players table that can filtered by position or FPL cost and which can be extended to show any number of Gameweeks. You can also sort on “Value” to find those players projected to offer the best points per million return.

However, this is just one part of the functionality. Rate My Team can also analyse your existing FPL lineup, recommend captains, vice captains your bench and bench order and allow you to model your future transfers. You’ll see this at play in the movie below, as I tinker with my replacement for Marouane Fellaini and scrap my squad to start building my January Wildcard selection.

When will Rate My Team be available?
We’re looking to roll out the Rate My Team tool for our members on January 1.

Another reason why I don't want to do Michu > Theo tonight:

By the DGW, he could be injured, Pod could be on fire, or Giroud could be firmly back in the picture. I'll have Gibbs, Caz and one other from Arsenal for the DGW, but it's not clear enough who the best option is yet.

RDg have been tightening up at the back, Nolan not exactly on form. Gibbs possible clean sheet or attacking returns. Pienaar is on form, Everton tend to score at home regardless of opp.

I would prob swap McCartney for O'Brien. And play O'Brien ahead of Cuellar.

West Ham have some decent fixtures, including the double GW, and O'Brien is nailed on, while McCartney is incredibly frustrating! I had him from the beginning until last week: if he isn't injured, he's rotated with Demel...

I'd have O'Brien 1st. Shorey came on for a couple of minutes against City, because Harte cramped up.
If Shorey were a guaranteed starter, then I'd have him first because of his set piece threat.
