Earlier today, Fantasy managers were given the heads-up on a potentially imminent double Gameweek for both Swansea and Liverpool. At present, neither club has a Gameweek 27 fixture due to the Welsh club’s progress to the Capital One Cup Final on February 24 but according to Michael Laudrup, the fixture could be rescheduled for the weekend prior to their clash with Bradford City.

Swansea Upcoming Fixtures
February 9 – home league game versus QPR (GW26)
February 24 – Capital One Cup Final versus Bradford
March 2 – home league game versus West Brom (GW28)

Liverpool Upcoming Fixtures
February 11 – home league game versus West Brom (GW26)
February 14 – away game versus Zenit St Petersburg in Europa League
February 21 – home game versus Zenit St Petersburg in Europa League
February 26 – home friendly versus Norwegian side Strømsgodset
March 2 – away league game versus Wigan (GW28)

Certainly, with both sides out of the FA Cup, they now have a free weekend in mid-February (FA Cup Fifth Round) that could suit. Looking at the respective schedules above, Liverpool are clearly the busier of the pair, with a couple of Europa League games and a friendly on the horizon – should they progress past Zenit, Brendan Rodgers’ side will be keen to avoid any further fixture congestion.

The period between February 14-21 looks the most obvious – Liverpool face a trip to Russia on the February 14 – a Thursday – and with travelling time taken into account, a game on Sunday 17 or even Monday 18 would suit, with the latter date still giving them three days before their return match against Zenit. This backs up Laudrup’s thoughts on the matter and certainly suits Swansea, given their comparatively scarce fixture list.

Considering that Gameweek 27 doesn’t get underway until February 23, such a scenario would give both clubs a double Gameweek 26. Liverpool, therefore, would be afforded a hugely enticing pair of home fixtures, with West Brom also rolling up to Anfield, while Laudrup’s men would play host to QPR before making their way to Merseyside a week-and-a-half later.

If this transpires, it leaves Fantasy managers with something of a quandary, given the blank Gameweek 27. While many will load up on both sides for a possible double, resisting the urge to then transfer them out could be key – Liverpool face a superb run of matches from Gameweek 28 onwards which sees them travel to four of the bottom six as well as home clashes with Spurs and West Ham (wig, TOT, sou, avl, WHM, rea), heightening the appeal of the likes of Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge, Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique.

After their blank, Swansea face three home games in four (NEW, wba, ARS, TOT) then travel to Norwich and Wigan before hosting Southampton in Gameweek 34. Michu’s owners will no doubt hold but, while the likes of Ben Davies is surely set to earn a rise in ownership, the multitude of midfield options amongst Laudrup’s squad could well deter investment in the likes of Pablo Hernandez and Wayne Routledge.

Again, nothing has been confirmed but the potential looks particularly enticing. Given the success of Chelsea and Arsenal’s main Fantasy assets in the back-to-back doubles gone by, there will no doubt be huge interest in this one – strong benches will be a necessity for those patient enough to hold in Gameweek 27, while those still clutching wildcards will be licking their lips in anticipation if it does, indeed, go ahead. At the moment, this is just a heads-up – we’ll bring you more on this as soon as the Premier League announce the new date.

I know..I know… theres a lot of these, but really need help. Is the defence weak? Too weak?

I’ve never really had Walcott,Mata or Fellaini before the past couple of weeks.

    My WC

    Federici, Bego
    Davies, Clyne, Pearce, O’Brien, Sagna(wtf)
    Fellaini, Mata, Bale, Michu, Walcott
    Pog, RVP, Suarez

I have my other WC, so could use that shortly too. Cheers...

So now I just have to rearrange my wildcard team to maybe accommodate a DGW for teams who will both have blanks the following week but good fixtures after that?

4 players tops if you ask me.

Davies, Michu, Suarez then one of Gerrard, GJ, Enrique

Any more than 4 players (without a WC to correct it) and you lose any DGW advantage by not fielding 11 in GW27.

This new Everton signing, Fer, looks like a ready made replacement for Fellaini. Think he might be Chelsea bound? They could do with him, given that Luiz has been playing in midfield recently.

Cahill left, that was a big chunk of their wage budget. I don't see Fellaini going anywhere, at least not until the summer. He has said he wants European football, but that he wants to try and get it with Everton.

I think you are putting a bit too much faith in him. Someone who has been struggling to even start for inter, never had any consistant run of performances. Could be another Aquilani.

    Mata Silva Walcott Michu (GUTHRIE)

    Aguero Fletcher RVP £0.0

Defence is fine if you ask me. Guthrie over Punch isn't too bad, as you will hopefully rarely have to play him.

Having 1.0 in the bank could be good to get Liverpool in in 2 GWs time.

Ok so Shorey was 'injured' despite his 5 minute cameo vs Man City away last week. I don't mind if mods want to delete this but basically he got done for turning up to training drunk, hence Harte playing instead. He's now played again and so Hartes place is in danger.

Thats why Pearce is a safer option than Shorey/Harte at the moment. If Shorey or Harte could nail down a guaranteed spot, either would be a total 3.8mill bargain.

    Hope this helps/

Funninly enough Pearce has the contract dispute, but I do think Morrison will threaten Mariappa more than Pearce's place.

Plus Pearce is a far superior goal threat. Mariappa is 5 foot 10 or something silly for a CB.

Really distressed about the DGW. Was settled on a WC team I couldn't wait to play. With the DGW in mind how does this team + plan sound? REALLY appreciate any feedback on this one!

    Team (£0.1m ITB)

    Mignolet, Cerny

    Zab, Cuellar, Pearce, Demel, DAVIES

    Mata, GERRARD, Walcott, Fellaini, Puncheon

    RVP, SUAREZ, Cisse

    GW 24 - Save transfer

GW 25 - Cisse to Sturridge + Fellaini to Michu (0.6m ITB)

I'll have no City cover for 2 gameweeks but hopefully I'll survive and thrive in the DGW?

It's because I'm in a bad place in my ML (need to make up gaps of around 100) and so I have to get this DGW perfect. I genuinely suck too much to recover from a bad DGW on top of 100 point deficit
