The Scout League has yet another new leader in the Sky Sports game this week, as a familiar name climbs to fourth to give chase to our top three. We give a shout-out to our top managers in this game, whilst examining the recent transfer trends and looking ahead to tonight’s friendly with the Fantasy Football Club…

The Scout League

Paul McAnulty is our new Scout League leader, his “Housewives Favourite” lineup holds a slender four-point advantage over Chris Pearce’s “UtakaDefoeKingPearce” squad in second, with former leader, Simon Davies, running third with his “Nags Head Rovers” side – just six points off the summit.

A new name gives chase to that trio – although Pascal Evans is a community member who might be well known to some. Winner of the Scout Metro league and overall Metro game a few seasons back, Pascal sits fourth in the Fantasy Football Scout FPL Career Hall of Fame, ahead of the aforementioned Chris Pearce who sits in tenth, so is a manager of some pedigree. Pascal ominously moves fourth, some 23 points back on our leader but with momemtum on his side having scaled the ladder at pace in recent weeks.

In the overall rankings, Paul McAnulty sits in fifth place, with plenty of work to do if he is to get within touching distance of the grand prize of £25k: Paul is now 89 points off the summit, with Simon Ward leading the overall game by a huge margin. With six managers in the top twenty, Fantasy Football Scout’s private league still leads the way – currently 15 points ahead of our nearest rival.

In terms of Scout contributors, my team has now passed Andy’s “Gylfi Pleasures” lineup in the rankings to climb to 63rd in the Scout League, while Granville’s “FC Granville B team” also climbs, sitting in 73rd with Andy dropping to 97th place.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

Despite drawing a rare blank in midweek, Robin Van Persie has been the “most wanted” player this week, being party to over 46% of the trades made in the past seven days. Three goalkeepers are also included in the top five most popular transfer targets, as Joe Hart, Asmir Begovic and Simon Mignolet all featured heavily in transfers plans. Interestingly, however, Begovic suffered losses this week for the first time this season – the Stoke stopper was also part of over 21% of transfers out made in the past week off the back of 16 goals conceded in the last six league outings.

Theo Walcott has proved the most attractive midfield acquisition- he fired his third goal in as many matches in the 2-2 with Liverpool in midweek. Walcott has been subject of 23% of transfers made this week and has been the chief benefactor from the fallout from Eden Hazard’s three-match ban. Chelsea’s midfielder, whilst still being owned by 36% of managers in the game, was shipped out as part of 49% of sales this week – a huge exodus. Luis Suarez and Jermain Defoe have been the other notable players to suffer significant transfer losses – both were transferred out as part of 19% of the total sales.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

John Ruddy may well reveal more on his likely return date as he makes an appearance for the Fantasy Football Club this evening. The Canaries stopper joins Fenners and Merse, who will also be joined by the opinions of former Crystal Palace chairman, Simon Jordan: it’s rarely dull when he’s about. Crash into the Fantasy Football Club dressing room at 10pm on Sky Sports one tonight, or catch the repeat on Sky Sports two on Saturday at 9am.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Gibbs for Monreal simple swap?
Noble for Barry (so i have city cover)

Really not sure what to do 2 FT and W/C left

    Beg (Bunn)
    ShawX, Monreal, Obrien, (Mariappa, Clyne)
    Mata, Michu, Fellaini, Bale, Barry
    RVP, Suarez, Ruiz

Not convinced Bale is worth his price tag, in fairness could move my team about lots without Suarez and Bale…

    Thoughts on my FT’s?

Could swap bale or fellaini for some good midfielders but going to leave them this week i think.. Barrys more switched on at the moment than noble whos playing quite deep (although hes on pens)... figure more chance of 3 points from barry as aposed to two.

Team at minute, 2 FT but no money in bank

Would be the perfect way for Benitez to exercise his rotation policy without being scrutinised by the media. Hope I'm wrong but can't help but think he will.

Would make sense if he had a fully fit team and he would be getting results easilly. But at this time with the team that he has I dont think he can afford it. He simply has nobody to play his role well enough with Hazard out.

I am probably the only one not judging him for that as Chelsea like goalscoring from the midfielders and Torres creates space for them nicely and also plays some fine passes. I actually think he knows what he is doing 😀

Yeah as a striker I rate Ba 100% over Torres. And I also think Benitez is a dumb arse(only reason I hated Liverpool a while back) despite being one who roots for Man Utd. But I still think I probably know a lot less about football than him. He could also be facing direct instructions from Roman to play Torres as much as possible.

Colin Pascoe says Suarez is the best striker in the Premier League, I think there's only one other candidate and that's obviously RVP, I'd have to give it to RVP but imagine if Suarez played for a team like Man Utd, he'd surely be regarded as one of the best players in the world but would he outscore RVP?, Suarez No 2 in my opinion.

Well currently the funny thing is that even Rodgers dont think he is that good of a striker per ce. As he is playing him as a midfielder. That may be a compliment to him as an overall player but not to him as a striker. So as we are talking about strikers I prefer both RVP and Aguero over him, even Ba on occasions. But as overall player he is up there in the top 3-5

I've just tuned in to find this head-spinning over Mata. Can I be clear, this is just based on one guy saying something on twitter? And he's probably just basing it on the supposed ankle knock i.e. nothing we didn't already know?

One intruiguing transfer which I've not seen any discussion on is Jenas' move to QPR. Not sure what his price is on FPL (at work) but strikes me as a potentially decent cheap MF gap fill option!

4.2 I think someone said - could be a new 5th midfielder option.

Scored 6, 6, 4, 4 in his 4 full seasons for us. Which would alright for 4.2. But that was 4 years ago now.

            06/07 - 2161 minutes - 6 goals - 3 assists
            07/08 - 2475 minutes - 4 goals - 6 assists
            08/09 - 2506 minutes - 4 goals - 3 assists

Stopped being a regular after that.

Not setting the world alight but worth 4.2..?

Hmmm, if Mata really is out, I've got Mata, Gibbs, Luiz and Berbatov on the treatment table, and Ba not guaranteed to start.

Berba and Luiz to GJ and Sturridge make sense? Can't afford a decent Liv def if I sell Gibbs.

        looks good to me.

My dilemma as far as DGW goes actually concerns Aguero funnily enough. Might make the moves I planned then see if he's actually worth getting back in. Wasn't impressed with him on Tuesday

Well I was planning to bench Dempsey, and now that Mata could be out I might have to play him.

Would it be worth just doing Dempsey ➡ Gerrard a week earlier and play him against City or take the risk with Dempsey?

      Bench: Bego, Punch, Demel, Bardsley

penalties were a big source of goals for him at leeds, i assume he'll have trouble taking them off holt, unless he replaces holt of course.
for this reason it's a 6 for me

If I decide to get Sturridge instead of Suarez then I can stop thinking about mental things such as Becchio.

As a Leeds fan I've a soft spot for him, but I don't think he's going to rip the Premier League up by any means. Essentially, he's cheap with reasonable fixtures, that's it.

In fact.... Gibbs+Berba-> Johnson+Giroud this week, Ba->Sturridge next week makes a lot more sense.

And if I decide at the last minute I reeeally want Suarez I can take some kinda hit next week.

Thanks Roscola, you may have just talked some sense into me.

I'm looking to downgrade one of Schezney and Begovic (probably to Tremmel). Bego seems the obvious choice but looking at the teams they've played recently I can kind of see why the form has dipped. Anyone else think it might be better to keep him?
