Fears over certain new boys’ starting roles prevented us handing places to the likes of Chris Samba and Lewis Holtby in this week’s article. Instead, we tread a path less risky and roll out three overlooked forwards with game time guaranteed and favourable home ties on their respective agendas this weekend.

Loic Remy

QPR’s record buy made an instant impact on his debut, notching within 15 minutes in a 1-1 draw at West Ham in Gameweek 23. Shackled by City’s backline on his first appearance in front of the Loftus Road faithful in midweek, Remy will be looking to return to goalscoring ways as Norwich roll up to Loftus Road tomorrow.

Harry Redknapp’s side are now unbeaten in four and with home draws against Spurs and City, the R’s will be confident of overcoming a Canaries side that have conceded in 10 of the last 11 Gameweeks. Handed the role of the lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 with Adel Taarabt pulling the strings behind him, Remy has played every minute of his two matches so far and offers guaranteed game time and a security of starts that could well see him prosper this weekend and beyond.

The Loftus Road outfit have six enticing looking fixtures in the following seven Gameweeks (swa, sou, SUN, avl, ful, WIG) which certainly bode well for their chances of survival and affords plenty reason for optimism. Priced 6.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and 8.0 in the Sky Sports game, Remy has the potential to prove a mid-price bargain as Redknapp turns to the former Marseille man to fire his side out the drop zone.

Victor Anichebe

So often a peripheral figure at Goodison, the Nigerian has enjoyed a recent run of games which affords Fantasy managers with an intriguing budget option to consider. Mainly utilised on the right due to a recent injury to Kevin Mirallas, the versatile Anichebe was shifted to the lone forward role last Wednesday as David Moyes dropped the off-form Nikica Jelavic to the bench.

An assist in the 2-1 triumph over West Brom maintained a run of form which has now harvested attacking returns in five of the last seven Gameweeks, with four bonus points also thrown in for good measure across that period. Priced at a mere 4.3 in FPL and 6.8 in the Sky Sports game, and with an ownership under 2% in FPL, Anichebe now welcomes Villa to Merseyside tomorrow. Given the game time, he is clearly capable of producing and looks superb value against an out-of-sorts side that have conceded two or more in all but one of their last seven.

Franco Di Santo

The departure of Arouna Kone to the African Cup of Nations has considerably boosted the Argentine’s appeal of late. Moved into the lone forward role vacated by the Ivorian, Di Santo has flourished – scoring in two of the last three, with a couple of bonus points also accrued.

Roberto Martinez’s side welcome Southampton to the DW tomorrow and, from an attacking perspective at least, are starting to finding their form – Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Stoke meant Wigan have notched twice in back-to-back matches for the first time since Gameweek 3. With an upturn in offensive threat, the Latics will be confident of seeing off the Saints and Di Santo, at just 5.3 in FPL and 7.5 in the Sky Sports game, could appeal to those looking for a real short-term differential gamble, with Kone’s return from international duties later this month likely to see Di Santo move back out wide.

Pepin, are you actually considering playing Pog ahead of Michu?! 😯

Cos now, you're upsetting me... 😉

The thing is, he might score, but Michu has done this before, he went a run of games without scoring and BOOM... you can't risk not playing him, he's due... and it's West Ham... they are rubbish at the back now...

surely this has to be the longest michu has gone without scoring? But I agree that you can never rule him out (e.g. arsenal away turned into a brace). 2nd scariest player to not own behind RVP (at least that was true until recently)

Well, I debated in the DZ at length last time I considered it. Michu had Everton away and Pog had WBA at home. At the end of the day, I got scared of Michu's ownership and made the wrong decision.

Big Sam will tighten it up at the back against the Swans and they are pretty goal shy away from home, I can see a 0-0 in this game. Pog is a lone striker, he has gotten 4 big chances in the last 4, which is pretty good. Sunderland aren't that tight away from the SoL, either.

      I am undecided.

Tried this a month or so ago in the DZ -- anyone want to play? You have 30M and have to get 5 players: at least one DEF, MID, FWD. As soon as someone claims the player he can't be chosen again. If you post them first you get them for gw25.

For me, there were 2 transfers that broke the FPL harmony, being Ba and Sturridge. The 1st broke with the wonder trio of RVP, Suarez, Ba attack both in pts and finance equilibrium. The latter isn't yet impacting but surely will, whether on Suarez's performance or Sturridge's rise as FPL prospect.

RVP and "fail" rarely go together. I think a Fulham team at home will mistakenly attack a few times per half, and when they do, RVP will gut them.

Sup deadzone, here's my WC team:

    DDG - Bunn

    Samba - Harte - Zabaleta - Cuellar - Davies
    Michu - Mata - Gerrard - Walcott - Bale
    Giroud (c) - Le Fondre - Sturridge

Haven't had RVP all season, think I've missed that train by a lot now.
    Any suggestions besides RVP?

Okay thanks for the feedback guys 🙂 Made a slight change and I think I'm ready to go.

    My team now..

    Mignolet, Bunn
    Onuoha, Johnson, Davies, Clyne, Harte
    Mata, Michu, Gerrard, Taarabt, Walcott
    RVP, Pog, Suarez

This is my plan for the following 2 GWs.. (barring injuries)
    GW 26 - Save FT
    GW 27 - Gerrard + Johnson -> Fellaini + Rafael/Evans

That would allow me to field a full 11 in GW 27. After that, I'll find ways to upgrade Tarrabt or Pog with the spare 2.7M. Sound good?

    Fed (Begovic)
    Demel, Baines, Mariappa, (Enrique, Davies)
Walcott, Cazorla, Fellani, Noble , (Michu)
    Fletcher, Lambert, RVP(c)

I was almost sure to keep Michu on the bench. But reading above view from Zep and Pepin, I am having a cold feet. If I got to play Michu, either of Noble or Lambert has to be on bench !! So who do I keep on the bench - fletcher, lambert or Michu ?

Mentally prepares to be shot down…

    Right, current WC team:

1.3 left in bank for future changes (potential upgrade of tevez to aguero along with a change of midfield, who knows.)

    Cesar, Federici,
    Enrique, Monreal, Zaba, Clyne, Obrien
Mata, Walcott, Bale (to gerrard for DGW), puncheon (do i use 1 mil to change to taraabt?), Kaca
    Tevez, Suarez, Ba

Thoughts please? Really want to go to bed!

    Cheers guys

Is it inconceivable to only have Suarez for the DGW? (Already have Davies & Michu)

All these planned hits are making me uneasy... I kinda wanna keep Baines for Norwich and Reading, and wouldn't mind if I had to play him at United, just in case he got a goal/assist...

Fellaini scoring 2 against Villa would make this a whole lot easier...

It it serves as any type of reassurance I'm going with Suarez, Michu and Davies. Let's not forget there's a blank for both teams the week after and avoiding hits later could be sensible. Not to mention the fact that most of us don't have a quality bench.
