While both Theo Walcott and Juan Mata delivered the goals we needed, a lack of clean sheets meant the midweek “Flutter” fell flat, allowing Paddy to claw back some of our recent winnings. Our recent treble win still finds us in the black, however, as we approach another Gameweek with a crispy tenner at the ready. Let’s see how the Scout Picks markets are shaping up for the weekend…

The aforementioned Theo Walcott is in such form, with three goals in as many games, it would seem remiss to overlook him for this weekend’s clash with Stoke. While Theo is red hot and well fancied to net once again, Arsenal’s somewhat frail defence means that Paddy can offer us 7/2 on a Walcott goal with an Arsenal clean sheet against the Potters. We’ll go on backing Walcott’s form with a couple of quid of this week’s stake.

In contrast to the Gunners man, Marouane Fellaini is without a goal in six league outings but is unlikely to get a better opportunity than this weekend, when a beleaguered Villa pay visit to Goodison. Paul Lambert’s side have proved so vulnerable at set-plays and Fellaini’s height and power will surely be a factor which will be exploited by David Moyes. Paddy are offering a modest 4/1 on a Fellaini goal with a third Everton clean sheet in four against Villa: we’ll put a tentative couple of quid on that one.

The final player market looks more favourable, with Adel Taarabt taking his place in yesterday’s Scout Picks – he looks a strong prospect as the basement club face up to an out-of-sorts Norwich at Loftus Road. The Moroccan has been in inspired form of late, without delivering goals, but we’re backing that run to come to an end later today and are more than happy to make this our bet of the week and place a fiver on Paddy’s odds of 6/1 on a Taarabt goal with a QPR clean sheet against the Canaries.

This week’s treble offer features a Robin van Persie goal, as always, coupled with a little something from City’s magician, David Silva. Paddy are offering 11/1 on a Van Persie goal at Fulham, a Silva assist against Liverpool and an Arsenal shut-out against shot-shy Stoke at the Emirates. That little offering claims this week’s final quid.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Last question before bed:

Do i get in Suarez/GJ before Bucktoothe's rise and before they play Sunday? (And Gibbs 0.1 fall)

Or swallow the 0.2 and wait and see...??

    Opinions on this?

Lose I reckon, especially as you're not certain on keeping Suarez anyway, so it might only be 0.1. TV isn't that important now anyway.

RVP > Suarez for the DGW, then Michu/Sturridge > Taarabt/Rooney...probably.

      Could work.

I'm considering downgrading Michu after the dgw as I think he's run his course for this season. Don't see him scoring many more between now and season end.

Rooney may score as much as RVP between now and then too.

Well yeah, I can't see Suarez (WBA/SWA) not outscoring RVP (EVE - possibly rested with Madrid coming up)...having had him since GW2 though it's definitely a gamble, but one that I think will pay off.

Almost time to start finalising my WC.....

    Bunn ???
    harte onouha davies ??? ???
    michu walcott bale ??? ???
    sturridge rvp ???

The plan is to have 5dgw players. Which option would you choose with 35.8m.

A: Reina, cueller, martin, maloney, mata, augero....will do kun >> suarez next gw
B: DDG, enrique, martin, guthrie, mata, augero.....will do kun >> suarez next gw
C: Reina, baines, martin, guthrie, fellaini, augero....will do kun >> suarez next gw
D: DDG, baines, cueller, maloney, fellaini, suarez....will do baines >> GJ next gw

Really really tough choices....i am leaning towards D....

basicaly comes down to who will get more points between baines vs villa this gw or mata vs wigan next gw..

    Morning. 🙂

Thought of posting this here in the DZ, posted it last night and got a good feedback...

People seem to be afraid of not having RVP here. But there are some calculations that I did today..

I was just tinkering around with my team a little, and saw what players I could get if I got rid of RVP. Here are the players that I would get rid of and the players I would bring in if I did.

    In: Zabaleta, Bale, Suarez, Lukaku

Out: Demel, Fellaini, RVP, Sturridge (purely because I don’t want to double up on Pool attack)

Total points of the RVP-less team (the 4 that would come in) over the season = 442
Total points of the RVP team = 354

    Points per 90 minutes of RVP-less team = 6.025
Points per 90 minutes of RVP team = 5.942

Points per 90 minutes in the last 10 games of RVP-less team = 26.108
Points per 90 minutes in the last 10 games of RVP team = 24.911

Here, the RVP team’s points per 90 minutes in the last 10 are a bit skewed due to Sturridge playing less than 90 and still getting the points, but I took everything in consideration while computing the scores.

Points per million of RVP-less team = 13.394
Points per million of RVP team = 10.926

Now that Rooney’s back and CL and FA Cup thrown in the mix, RVP’s form will only take a setback, imo.

And no, this is not a knee-jerk, because I still am not sure about it, but yeah, I’m a bit confident now that an RVP-less team can do equally good, if not better.

There are other factors too, like constant captaincy, but we’ll only have to look a bit deep into it.

A bit too long, hope it was wort reading. Sorry for ruining the space. Cheers

I don't think so, Rooney's value has now decreased even more. He's not on penalties anymore too. Aguero and Suarez I think.

I saw this post yesterday, but couldn't reply in time. Is this fear talking?

Btw one more reason, why you might want to consider dropping RVP is UCL rotation? No way he starts, when they have a match on Tue/Wed against Madrid.

Yet, I don't think I am getting rid of him. Too much of a pain to get him back.

I have been one of the few manager who despite having him for the initial run in the team, dropped him somewhere around gw7. While it initially paid off, his ability to rack goals constantly even against big teams, eventually led me to rue my mistake.

With the position you're in, I'm strongly advising you to not get rid of RVP. Let those who are catching up, take that chance. Don't do it yourself, and certainly not for Rooney yet.

I'm only reading into it. There are people in the top 100 who have not had RVP all season. And it makes managing the team so exciting. Choose different captains, get a different team.

OK guys, I have 3 tangible options for GW26... I'm saving my FT this week... and I already have 2 Swans - Davies & Michu...

    A - Baines, Gibbs & Podolski > G.J, Turner & Suarez (-4)
then GJ > Zaba FT to field 11 in GW27... this gives me 2 Pool for only 1 hit, but has NO GERRARD...

    B - Baines, Fellaini & Podolski > Turner, Gerrard & Suarez (-4)
then Gerrard > Silva FT to field 11 in GW27... this gives me 2 Pool for only 1 hit, but has NO G.J...

    C - Gibbs & Podolski > Turner & Suarez (2FTs)
I could field 11 without using a FT, which could come in handy down the line, BUT this would give me only 1 Pool, NO GERRARD OR G.J...

    Which do we prefer?
