Another Wayne Rooney goal, another Robin Van Persie blank – United’s hard-fought victory at the Cottage added further fuel to the fire for Fantasy managers. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Wayne Rooney
Despite being moved to the left midway through the second-half, the former Everton man secured the points with a calm finish. Having grabbed a double last time out against Southampton, Rooney is staking a real case for consideration either as an alternative or partner for Robin Van Persie in our forward lines and looks a real differential with Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership under 7%. His consistency of late has been staggering – tonight’s goal made it eight in the last six league starts.

Jonny Evans
His return to the starting lineup made an immediate difference at the Cottage. United had registered clean sheets in each of Evans’ previous two appearances – given they had conceded in the last three without him, his calming influence at the back looks to be a major factor. With the assist for Rooney’s goal, Evans looks set to earn FPL bonus points to cap another assured display.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman has now registered back-to-back blanks – coinciding with Rooney’s return to the starting XI. The Dutchman had produced in each of his previous ten and while there’s no doubting his consistency over the season, many are now contemplating a switch as mini-leagues start to heat up with the quest for differentials becoming a key factor. With a favourable run of fixtures ahead, Van Persie’s owners will be confident of a return to form but Rooney’s kinder 11.8 FPL price tag liberates budget to be utilised elsewhere.

Antonio Valencia
Handed a start on the right in a 4-4-2, the former Wigan man disappointed yet again and was hauled off on 65 minutes. It’s a single assist in 11 appearances now for Valencia and with Danny Welbeck and Shinji Kagawa pushing for game time, he could well return to the periphery once more. Fantasy managers have been deprived of an assured midfield asset in the United squad all season: there is little sign of that situation changing.

Brede Hangeland
Owned by more than 6% of the Fantasy Premier League player base, Hangeland has been a major disappointment so far this season: yet again he’s without a goal and, with just three clean sheets, his return have failed to live up to a pre-season billing which hailed him as a potential bargain. Tonight the Norwegian suffered his latest setback, withdrawn at half-time with a knock, rumoured to be an Achilles problem, which may now make him a doubt for Fulham’s next outing at Norwich.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

That would work, but is was just a bit meh. Things like going to Skyfall without backup (or just calling to the troops to deal with stuff) made no sense. Also, if they are going to go more "earthy/realistic" then most of the tech they used just is not possible. I dunno... I feel deflated after all the hype.

I really like my team for the next GW. 4 DGWers, transfer saved, so I'll have 2 FTs to sort my team out for the Swansea and Pool blanks.

    Bunn
    Davies* JEnrique* Dawson
    Mata(VC) Walcott Michu* Bale
    RVP Suarez*(C) Lambert

Does anyone think getting more than four dgw players is worth it if means a hit to remove two for gw27 and even then having no guarantee of being able to field 11?

I just had my first real look at the situation over the next couple of GWs and it looks like i'll just be getting in 2 Liverpool players to accompany Davies

I would say no, but if the 'pool v Swans game is a goal fest it may just be worth it. Maybe if you just go for midfield/forwards

I've got 3 atm and was thinking of getting GJ... I would have 2 FT to ensure that I could field 11 the following week

I'll have 5 or 6 depending on trammel.
Trem/Davies/Enrique/Michu/Suarez and either Gerra or Studge - any thoughts on latter ?

I already have Michu, Davies, Suarez and Sturridge...

I should stick, save my freebie and have two to sort out gw27 right?

I think you need 3 pool ideally, I'd be tempted by Michu ➡ Gerrard for a hit...

WR the chelsea/soton dgw i struggled with this dilemma, convinced myself that 3 was all id need instead of using my wc to get full compliment like you did...........that was a mistake i wont make again, the risk of not being part of a dgw outweighs the risk of being prepared but flopping

this one is complicated massively by the blank tho, but i feel if you can get by with a -4 then its worth it

Im not convinced 4 double gameweek players is worth it , especially if you have to take a hit this week

There sure to be someone ion your team who dosent play gm27... Demel? or someone else so will have to make another 4 points
That means the extra player has cost eight points , dubious at best. Think you need Suarez as capt and Michu , rest just a bonus

Yep, I already have four and Demel and J Cole are a worry, but if they play I think Gerrard would be well worth -4

I will have only 3 dgw players, and that will be for a hit. I am happy with that seeing as Gibbs had to be shifted.

My problem is value related...I have Suarez, Michu and Davies. Have been considering Baines > Johnson or a big hitter > Gerrard. My problem is as I have no spare cash willI get Baines etc back in again..
