Another Wayne Rooney goal, another Robin Van Persie blank – United’s hard-fought victory at the Cottage added further fuel to the fire for Fantasy managers. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Wayne Rooney
Despite being moved to the left midway through the second-half, the former Everton man secured the points with a calm finish. Having grabbed a double last time out against Southampton, Rooney is staking a real case for consideration either as an alternative or partner for Robin Van Persie in our forward lines and looks a real differential with Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership under 7%. His consistency of late has been staggering – tonight’s goal made it eight in the last six league starts.

Jonny Evans
His return to the starting lineup made an immediate difference at the Cottage. United had registered clean sheets in each of Evans’ previous two appearances – given they had conceded in the last three without him, his calming influence at the back looks to be a major factor. With the assist for Rooney’s goal, Evans looks set to earn FPL bonus points to cap another assured display.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman has now registered back-to-back blanks – coinciding with Rooney’s return to the starting XI. The Dutchman had produced in each of his previous ten and while there’s no doubting his consistency over the season, many are now contemplating a switch as mini-leagues start to heat up with the quest for differentials becoming a key factor. With a favourable run of fixtures ahead, Van Persie’s owners will be confident of a return to form but Rooney’s kinder 11.8 FPL price tag liberates budget to be utilised elsewhere.

Antonio Valencia
Handed a start on the right in a 4-4-2, the former Wigan man disappointed yet again and was hauled off on 65 minutes. It’s a single assist in 11 appearances now for Valencia and with Danny Welbeck and Shinji Kagawa pushing for game time, he could well return to the periphery once more. Fantasy managers have been deprived of an assured midfield asset in the United squad all season: there is little sign of that situation changing.

Brede Hangeland
Owned by more than 6% of the Fantasy Premier League player base, Hangeland has been a major disappointment so far this season: yet again he’s without a goal and, with just three clean sheets, his return have failed to live up to a pre-season billing which hailed him as a potential bargain. Tonight the Norwegian suffered his latest setback, withdrawn at half-time with a knock, rumoured to be an Achilles problem, which may now make him a doubt for Fulham’s next outing at Norwich.

    Just got back from a few days in vegas and didn't have internet access to change my team, so I have 2 free transfers and luckily no one did anything on my bench. In regard to the upcoming DGW:

    Aguero (sou) or Suarez (WBA, SWA)?

    comparison between Enrique and GJ

    team selected by: GJ- 4.5 , E-3.4(enrique more differential)
    minutes played: GJ-1963 , E-1058(enrique has played only half the time of GJ)
    goals scored: 1 each(though enrique's goal came when he was on the wing)
    assists: GJ-4 , E-3(not much diff)
    bonus: GJ-5 , E-6(enrique has much more bonus potential)
    points: GJ-88 , E-62
    points per minute*90: GJ-4.0347 , E-5.274

    so considering all this isnt enrique a better option for the DGW???

    A) Baines (mun) & Bale (NEW)

    Vorm
    GJ Zab Davies
    Walcott Bale Mata De Guzman
    Rvp Suarez (c) Sturridge

    Mignolet Guthrie Onouha Clyne.

    2 ft's so won't need a hit to field 11 in gw 27 either.

    Gameweek 19 --> Rank 3,147
    Gameweek 20 --> 3,746
    Gameweek 21 --> 2,954
    Gameweek 22 --> 2,385
    Gameweek 23 --> 2,016
    Gameweek 24 --> 2,794
    Gameweek 25 --> 2,314

    My rank tend to stable from gameweek 19, because each FPL team (especially top rank teams) has similar players after January wildcard, which could cause a boring FPL game until end of season.

    Each team should have 3 chance of wildcard ---> before winter transfer windows, during winter transfer windows and after winter transfer windows, so team changes and rank fluctuation is still possible until end of season

        #1 Each team almost have used non-January wildcard in different GW (which is good, because no similar players......)
        #2 Each team will take January wildcard in almost same GW based on total score statistics (which is BAD, because the wildcard has time constrain, and it will be their last wildcard and almost all teams will have similar patterns until end of season)
        #3 After winter transfer windows wildcard without time constrain will give differential for each team depends on when they will take its wildcard whether in DGW, injury concerns or last GW.

          #1 Quite a few still have the season WC.
          #2 We all have similar sides.
          #3 We all end up with similar sides at the big DGW.

          Rather no Jan WC & only 1 season WC.

    I guess it ultimately depends on how high scoring you think the DGW will be with you answer this question...

    But what do you see as being the OPTIMUM strategy...? (not accounting for injuries etc...)

    A - Only having 2 Pool & 2 Swans (no hits) and FT to field 11 players in GW27

    B - Having 3 Pool & 2 Swans (-4) and another hit (-4) to field 11 players in GW27

        Especially with a high rank, since most will (C) Suarez, where as one of your mids can match RVPs score.

            Whatever, its logical. People can moan all they want im doing it.

            people tried to convince me to hedge bets rather than play double norwich today. Stuck with my gut... BOOM 17pts.

      A, but I got RVP at the start and it would be very difficult for me to sell him

    Demel dropped right?

    Thankfully Wilson close to fitness to save the day.

        A few weeks ago i had a discussion with sherlock lateriser or whatever his name is

        He bought Wilson even though he wasnt playing arguing that he would be harmless on the bench. This double proves that it is far from harmless having non players on your bench

          I agree but playing 10 men in GW27 isn't too bad. With luck I'll play 442 with no hits & would rather the extra attacker.

            But only if that is 3-4-2 since a defender can easily gt 0-1-2 pts anyway...

    I've kept my faith in Lennon and look forward to see him play tomoz. I think he's a bit underestimated on this site, yet his starting stats outweigh any other player in Spurs (24)

    What impresses me is his speed from standstill and he's wowed me on many occasions on that score leaving players for dead. Admittedly not blessed with the greatest goalscoring stats as yet or Messiesque dribble ability and vision but nonetheless a key figure in the team. Often overshadowed by Bale and Defoe I still think his blistering speed is a joy to watch.

    I want Afro in my team but I want Fletcher out from my team? Any suggestion?

    Now 2FT with:

    Michu / Bale / Mata / Puncheon / Walcott
    RVP / Suarez / Fletcher

    Any suggestion would be highly appreciated after doing nothing on Afro vs Villa..
