Despite scoring 100 points or more, as many as 12 managers bit the dust in the First Round of the FFS Members Cup. The highest scoring losing entrant was Gustad, who was edged out 108-107 by ff addict. Overall, the highest scoring manager in Round 1 was The Tinkerman, who registered 124 points – that earned him 398th spot in the Gameweek 26 standings.

Mark and Granville both made early exits, though. Mark was knocked out 93-84 by Shiffo, while Granville was sent packing 92-79 by AR Diab – we’ll be keeping an eye on that pair’s progress over the course of the campaign.     We tend to perform better against the big clubs and then lose it completely against teams like Swansea!
    
    It wouldn't surprise me if we get something from that game.
    
    Arsenal are another team that tend to disappoint the moment people pin their hopes on them for what appears to be a tasty fixture.
    
    Personally, I am going with the hot hand right now and captaining Bale. In unstoppable form right now, plays great away from home and West Ham have gone off the boil lately.

      Best of luck to you on both counts (I'm a United fan).
      
      To be honest I guess you're right about standing up against the big teams. Problem is that Aguero isn't in his superstar form and Mata + Lampard are carrying Chelsea (not their strike force).
      
      I do genuinely believe (in my obvious bias) that we'll penetrate any defensive tactics you put against us.
      
      Bale is very tempting and I have no arguments there. Just a preference for Walcott this week!

        You should beat us, but football doesn't always work that way and we don't tend to get spanked by the big clubs. My guess is that it will be a low scoring game either way.
        
        Again, Arsenal should beat Villa but they are equally capable of laying an egg and a Villa side battling for their Premier League lives could well end up beating them.
        
        Bale is definitely my man this weekend.

• All three times that the sides have met over two legs in the European Cup it has been FC Barcelona that have gone though. They first crossed paths way back in 1959/60 (5-1 and 0-2), and in the UCL era they met in the semis of 2005/06 (0-1 and 0-0) and the quarters last year (0-0 and 3-1).

• AC Milan, however, beat FCB in the Supercup of 1989 (1-1 and 0-1) and in the Athens final of 1994 (0-4). They have also played four times in the group stages 2000/01 and 2004/05 with one Barça win, two for the Italians and one draw.

I was planning Gerrard to Cazorla for a hit to enable me to field 11 this gw, but that would mean I have:

2 Arsenal
2 Man U
1 Everton
1 West Ham

And only 2 FTs between now & gw29. Therefore if the Ars-Eve & WHU-MnU games get bumped I'll need another hit to field 11 in gw29.

Whereas, if I hold Stevie G, I'll only have 10 this GW, but no hit, and no subsequent hit gw29.

However, we don't know what the fallout in gw29 will be, if there are lots of postponements it's going to hit everyone, and if need be I still have my wildcard. Therefore even if I can't field 11 in gw29, lots of games getting moved would be a good thing as I could use my wildcard, either in gw29 for damage limitation, or more likely in the resultant DGW bonanza.

In other words: take a hit, field 11, make hay while the sun shines, carpe diem, a bird in the hand, man up, go hard or go home, fortune favours the brave, you can't make an omelette, cross that bridge when you come to it, que sera sera.

Is my logic sound?

  When we moved to the Emirates the board said that we needed to qualify for the UCL for x ammount of years to cover the debt that we had created. As such there is no money available for transfers until that debt is cleared. Hence the zero net loss transfer policy. Everton are the other club working on such tight purse strings and they cannot touch us, which is why everyone would get of Wenger's back. If things dont change when the debt is gone then the board need firing not Wenger.

  Just do Bertrand ---> Somebody, and then hope Marveuax at least makes some sort of appearance (even if just as sub). There is no way any 4.2m midefielder will claw back the hit, so just leave it at that.

    What are the best options and 4m or less? Id love to go wilson but not convinced he will start. Hes a season keeper if fit, and it would be nice to get him in early. Could go Pearce/Mariappa but thats all im seeing!

      Wilson would be best, he shoud have a decent chance of playing this weekend, but the worry is Pulis will ease him back.
      
      As Mr Chief says below, wait for the Pulis press conference and see what he says.
      
      If you are still having doubts, then yes, either of Reading's boys would be ok and have ok fixtures for now.
