[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

After a festive hiatus, this renaissance of tightrope fare comes to you from a departure lounge in Vienna, proving once and for all that while we may not travel to the ends of the earth for you here at the Scout, we will at least go well out of our way to ensure we’ve got your back – even if you might be one of the seven managers who brought in Fabian Delph last week.

With nine yellow cards in just a shade over 1500 minutes of football this season, including four in eight cup appearances for Aston Villa, Delph now stands alone atop the booking charts and is the first player to taste the home comforts of the second suspension tightrope. The sanction for 10 yellow cards received prior to the second Sunday in April (or Gameweek 33 to you and me), is now set at a two-match suspension – so Delph now faces a hard task to navigate the six remaining fixtures without troubling the referee.

Further down the list on eight yellows a heavyweight triumvirate lurk in the shadows of the sidebar widget – David Luiz, Marouane Fellaini and Luis Suárez all just a couple of bookings from a ban alongside Paul Scholes, Craig Gardner, James Perch and a couple of new faces in the shape of Delph’s teammate Matthew Lowton and Chelsea’s Brazilian midfielder, Ramires.

On to the suspensions, and with West Brom’s Goran Popov set to serve the last of a three-match ban (Gameweeks 26-28) for spitting at Kyle Walker, another Eastern European import joins him this week for an act of petulance. Pavel Pogrebnyak, attractively priced at 4.4 in the Fantasy Premier League game and resident on the benches of over 200,000 teams, was unilaterally called into action this week amongst squads stretched by the excesses of Gameweek 26. The Russian’s straight red card for a kick at Maynor Figueroa and the -2pts delivered are only the tip of the painful iceberg as a three-match ban immediately ensues, taking in the testing times of Gameweeks 28, 29 and 30. There’s not many alternatives at that price I’m afraid.

** A late addition to the article comes after the FA announced they have charged Robert Huth with violent conduct in relation to an incident involving Philippe Senderos during Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Fulham. The Stoke centre-half has until 6pm this evening but now looks set to miss the following three Gameweeks against West Ham, Newcastle and West Brom.

    Team for GW 28:

    Federici,
    Zabaleta, Davies, Demel,
    Bale, Mata, Walcott, Michu,
    RVP, Giroud, Fletcher.

    Bunn, Guthrie, Harte, Bertrand. (2.8m)

    Which of these transfer options looks the best?:

    A) RVP -> Suarez
    B) RVP -> Suarez, Fletcher -> Lambert for -4
    C) RVP -> Suarez, Guthrie -> Sissoko -4
    D) RVP -> Suarez, Bertrand -> Wilson/Evans -4
    E) Something else, such as RVP -> Aguero maybe?

    Any help is much appreciated. Thanks. 🙂

      Wait for confirmed news on GW 29. If you must do something now, do Fletcher and Guthrie to Lambert and Sissoko.

    'Benítez in training ground row with senior Chelsea players

    The Chelsea boss Rafael Benítez has openly criticised his players' performance in Sunday's defeat at Man City'

    Hmmm.

    I have to say, Chelsea's performance was pretty dour. Whether that was down to Rafa's poor tactics is up for debate. He's certainly trying to deflect attention from his own failings here.

    But I did think Chelsea were so lacklustre, not once did they look like a real threat. And it was hard to believe watching them that they even had anything to play for.

    Granted, City weren't overly impressive either and their performance wasn't entirely convincing.

      Yes, it must be Rafa's fault becuase no other Chelsea manager has been undermined by a core group of players at the club.

      Oh wait, they all have actually.

        To be honest, I do think it was the players fault on Sunday but Rafa might have tried to motivate them a bit more. They looked disinterested.

        And that is why SAF and United have won so many trophies...Fergie is absolutely diligent with the mental qualities of his players. Man for man many United players over the years simply can't compete in skill terms with some of the players at other clubs...but upstairs they are streets ahead...

      Rafa is a manager for whom the players don't seem to want to play for and nor does the fans have his back. He has got his tactics all wrong and has had the worst win percentage (50%) among all the chelsea managers.
      I just hope we get a top four spot and then Mourinho joins us in the summer.

    Steve Nicol is a Nutter.
    Refused to listen to the possibility that Andy Carrol had a chance of retrieving the ball after he was tackled by Parker in the area last night.
    He actually got pissed off with the other pundits for trying to convince him otherwise!
    He's probably the worst pundit I have ever seen including Liam Brady.

    Michu should be getting more mentions for (c) choice this week. I may very likely go that way. Swansea are on good form at home, they will be buoyed by the cup victory, and Michu is their main man. Needless to say, Newcastle aren't solid at the back.

            They had to play for survival in the league. How many times have we seen newly promoted teams get second season blues in the last few years?

            Now they're safe, have some silverware and qualified for Europe. There really isn't anything to play for now, other than pride. I'll be watching their game this weekend with interest to see if there are any hints of a cup hangover.

    Strange that Silva is the 9th top scoring Midfielder despite having a pretty underwhelming season in FPL. His first half run last season probably led to him being a tad overrated. He's still on course to equal his goals/assists total from last year though. 3 more goals and 6 more assists is probably doable. Not sure if it'll be enough to get me interested but he'd be a nice differential in the run in.

      Silva is anything but overrated. Ive been watching the guy play since his Valencia days and can tell you right now that he is the most talented midfielder in the premier league by a country mile, and it pains me to say that as a United fan. Silva is simply exhausted, lengthy world cup and european championship campaigns have taken it out of him big time. Given a good rest in the summer, he will be devastating again next year.

        Hey, I'm one of Silva's biggest fans. I watch youtube videos of him for pure enjoyment...you're preaching to the converted here 😀

        I just meant he's slightly overrated in FPL in terms of output. He's never been a natural goalscorer and doesn't shoot a lot. But his creativity is unrivalled at times. I love him as a player and along with Bale, Cazorla and Mata he's one of my favourite player to watch.

        I just thought his starting price was a little high in FPL for someone who isn't a natural goalscorer. He was the highest priced midfielder after all.

    afternoon lads. Back of me hols and still think I need to ship RvP, at least for 1 week (maybe 2 depending on GW29)

    Still really think Hernandez is the man to go for given I have Sturridge for Pool v Wigan and will be getting Sissoko in for Fellaini GW29 allowing for a Pog to Lambert/Benteke/Lukaku upgrade.

    Worth taking Hernandez for 1 week before i make other moves?

          If you're worried about getting xi out this week, you should be concerned with getting 9 out the week after - including Pearce, you'd have 7 players with blanks if all of the games are postponed. I'm not in a much better position but hoping to save the transfer this week or take Cisse.

    Think I've sussed it. Time for Shawy to go - he's served me well, but the 0.5 profit has to be taken, and Wilson at 3.9 too good to ignore. Shall miss those bonus points though!

    Leaves me cash to get Bale in next week, either for a replacement for Dzeko in a 3-5-2 with two frees and 0.3 margin for price movements, or straight in for Fellaini. Sweet.

        I do, but my Caz>Bale plans are in tatters, and I fancy Fellaini to score against Reading. So thought waiting a week made sense with the potential blank and 9th booking coming up too?!
