Fantasy managers were handed a heads-up of a new double Gameweek afternoon after Arsenal’s home match with Everton, originally scheduled for Gameweek 29, was moved to Tuesday April 16, or Gameweek 33 to you and I.

The fixture change is due to Everton’s FA Cup progress at the expense of Oldham last night. The Toffees are now set to face Wigan in the Sixth Round a week on Saturday and with Arsenal facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League the following midweek, there was no room for manoeuvre within Gameweek 29.

While the rescheduled date means Arsenal definitely have a double, it’s not quite as straightforward for the Toffees. Everton have confirmed that if they beat Wigan in the cup, their Gameweek 33 tie hosting QPR will be postponed, as the semi-finals take place over that weekend. With the Arsenal game now set for the midweek slot in Gameweek 33 (it will be shifted to Wednesday April 17 if Everton win), this would mean a double Gameweek for the Gunners (NOR, EVE), a single for Everton (ars) and a blank for QPR.

Luckily, we only have until next weekend before the Everton-Wigan FA Cup clash but in the meantime, the double for Arsenal looks hugely favourable. Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla will already be earmarked as potential captains – Walcott has produced three sets of double figures at the Emirates to Cazorla’s two and is likely to get the nod by many, despite being 10 points behind the Spaniard in the FPL standings. Having produced 30 points between them in Arsenal’s recent double Gameweek 23, their potential for points is obvious.

I'm fine for gw29. Would only miss 4 players if all 4 games off. If we get more games on gw33 will use it then. One game isn't enough.

Done two transfers this week - Shawy out Wilson in to raise cash, then Fellaini to Bale a week earlier than planned but I felt punty!

Next week Dzeko to Studge, to double up with Saurez. Should give me 10 starters for GW29. Then will sell Studge and get Fellaini back in a 3-5-2 ready for GW33! Easy! 🙂

    Begovic, Bunn

    Puncheon, Walcott, Mata, Fellaini, Michu
    Sturridge, Rodriquez, RVP

Damn this Lambert vs Benteke debate is killing me. I know the majority will say Lambert but I had bad experience with him this season and his ownership scares me.

    Thoughts?
I went on the compassion tool, Benteke seams to be the better bet (beside penalties)

Taking Lambert won't shoot you up the rankings if he does well... and it won't make you plummet if he does badly.

Taking Benteke could make a real difference.

That said, I've got Lambert and can't see Villa scoring vs Man City. Pick the bones out of that one. Gouffran?! 😉

Theres a big difference. Suarez, RVP, Mata have been consistant pretty much the entire season. Bale on the other hand, has not. Pretty much the same thing he did last season. One bad spell, then some fantastic form, then poor again. How some people have the nerve to compare him to Messi or CR7 who have been better than he has for 4-5-6 straight seasons is beyond me.

For me, Van Persie should win it again, but if Bale carries on playing like he has the last month, he is likely to win it. People forget the first half of the season.

Bale could win it. Thats not out of the question. But he needs to keep up pace for the remaining games, and RVP has to have a dip in form. Suarez is close, but i cant ever see him winning an award like this simply due to what people think of him. Theres still room for all 4 of those to win, but its certainly advantage RVP at this stage.

I just think when people compare him with these two they are complimenting his outstanding individual talent as an attacking player. These two are the best players in the world because they can win their teams games by their talent alone. And that's something Bale is showing. Saying he is as good as them is another thing but simply comparing his talent is fair.

Its not really fair, but i see your point. Bale on his day can be compared to Ronaldo on his day, theyre pretty similar in playstyles. Nobody plays like Messi, and he has the consitency advantage as well. Just to state the obvious, i completely admire Bale and think he`s evolving into a fantastic player. But not even close to those two, who again are miles ahead of anybody else.

Lambert has the 3rd highest striker returns, makes me feel good having him there. I prefer Saints balance in midfield, and their bench options which should result in more returns for Lambert. Only factor that may impact things is pressure. If Saints were to lose against QPR, which I wish would but can't see happening, life could become far more difficult for them. Conceding 4 in previous shows they have a soft center.

        Sturridge-RVP-Anichebe

        Standard power 5 in midfield.

I'm really tempted to do Anichebe->Lambert and bench RvP. Would be doing the A->L move next week anyway.

I'd do Anichebe to Lambert then. Anichebe is a bit of a lost cause at the moment. Injured and maybe wont get back in the team so easily.

I'm surprised you can afford to upgrade but I guess that's the benefit of Sturridge.

Go with your gut on this one. I don't want to advise you to bench RVP. I'm considering selling RVP to get Suarez this week personally to rid myself of the anxiety over whether he will start or not.

Maybe it's coincidence, but in my first season doing fantasy football I didn't know about this site, I only looked at who was injured and just went with my favourite players and knowledge of watching the game. I finished first in my mini league and 3rd in my second mini league of over 800 people.

Now I read this site, over think my transfers and captain choices and I'm 2nd in my league by 70 points and about 20,000th. I always have a gut feeling and then let my head rule my heart and it's messed me up.

Time for a change I think.

On factor to consider re RVP is what Fergie does with Rooney. His role v Madrid will include far more defensive duties compared RVP. Against Madrid with a lead to protect it will be essential he is fit and fresh. It think he is vulnerable to fatigue this season.
