Friday’s final article has one eye on this weekend and another on the Gameweek 29 schedule, with six fixtures currently set to take place next time out. As a result, we’ve made sure our trio of overlooked alternatives all have two games on their respective agendas over the next couple of weeks – a crucial factor when we assessed their potential.

Adam Lallana

Eased back into the action with a trio of sub appearances following a knee injury absence, the Southampton skipper earned his first start since Gameweek 16 last weekend. Lallana’s return to the first XI saw Jason Puncheon drop out and with Gaston Ramirez also utilised as a sub in the 4-2 defeat at Newcastle, question marks are starting to emerge over the latter two’s game time under new boss Mauricio Pochettino.

While Rickie Lambert very much remains the headline act for the St Mary’s club, Lallana’s contribution is also likely to be crucial if they are to avoid the drop. An assist at St James’ Park last Sunday means he has now supplied two goals and five assists this term; more impressively, he has produced attacking returns in seven of his 17 starts and offers a decent source of consistent returns. Now down to 5.6 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and priced at 4.9 in the Sky Sports game, Lallana plays host to QPR tomorrow before making his way to Norwich next weekend and with three home games (LIV, CHE, WHM) and a trip to Reading in the following four, he could well be worth our consideration, with a mere 1% in FPL right now.

Danny Graham

Sunderland’s new signing started life on Wearside with a handful of late second-half sub appearances but Martin O’Neill’s decision to shift to 4-4-2 afforded Graham his first start alongside Steven Fletcher at West Brom last weekend. With Stephane Sessegnon flourishing on the right flank and supplying plenty creativity, the Black Cats boss admitted that, in spite of both his forwards drawing blanks in the 2-1 defeat, he was keen to give their partnership time to develop:

“It’ll take a bit of time. This was the first time that the two have played together competitively and I think they’ll improve as time goes on and they get a proper understanding. I think they will do well, but Danny Graham is still working on getting his match sharpness. Because he hasn’t played a lot this season compared to last, he feels he needs a game or two to get fully match-fit. And that’s fine – he worked hard for the side and he didn’t have a great deal of luck – but he’ll do fine for us.”

Having lost three back-to-back league matches, Sunderland are now handed a trio of kind looking fixtures to aid their chances of survival. O’Neill’s side welcome Fulham to the Stadium of Light tomorrow and, with a trip to basement-dwellers QPR next weekend preceding the visit of Norwich, the Black Cats look set to go on the attack in order to pick up the points. Coming in at a mere 5.4 in FPL (compared to a steep 8.4 in the Sky Sports game), Graham, with a FPL ownership of just 2.5%, looks to have game time guaranteed and could offer us an intriguing cut-price solution up front over the next three Gameweeks before the schedule turns nasty again.

Peter Crouch

Having lost his front teeth and first-team place after a boot to the face in the Gameweek 14 clash with Newcastle, Crouch has reclaimed his starting berth once again. Manoeuvring himself ahead of Kenwyne Jones in the pecking order for the lone forward role, he has now started the last five for Tony Pulis’ side and with three stand-out Britannia ties on the horizon (WHM, WBA, AVL) in addition to a trip to Newcastle next weekend, he comes into our consideration.

It’s his home form that’s the main attraction for Fantasy managers. Crouch has started nine times in front of his own fans and has scored or assisted on five occasions, in a run that has harvested four goals, two assists and 10 bonus points for an average of 5.3 per home start. Despite their lack of defensive returns, Stoke have tasted defeat just once at home this season and will be looking to take advantage of a Hammers side that may well be devoid of Kevin Nolan and Mark Noble tomorrow. If Pulis’ troops are to prosper over that next trio of home fixtures, Crouch – at just 6.0 in FPL and 8.8 in the Sky Sports game, looks pivotal to their progress.

I kinda wish it had a cooler name. Although admittedly, shortening it to P5 is much cleaner and edgier than the comparatively lame saying of 'power 5'

If we all expect a lot of goals in NLD due to tradition, why not look tradition in Wigan-Liverpool game.
A lot of draws and not very favourable for Liverpool.

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster. I'd just like to weigh in on the RVP debate tonight. It seems as if people are getting their hopes up about RVP starting ever since the news broke that Fergie said he would feature.

For me this changes nothing. Everyone knew he was passed fit for the game after the presser earlier on and there was no doubt he'd be in the squad. When Fergie says he'll feature this could mean all sorts of things, remember. He might have even meant he will feature in the squad.

Another thing worth noting is that Fergie has never had to officially announce before a game what he intends to do with RVP. Feature is a vague word to use and if he planned on starting RVP I don't think he would have bothered using these words at all. And we all know, a manager doesn't only have a plan A but also a plan B. And Fergie won't give a damn if these words are proved to be insincere. After all, Man Utd might suffer injuries during the match and plans to play RVP will be derailed.

Anyway, a start isn't 100% just because of this report and I strongly advise you to sell RVP if you can.

First of all, i cant really see United struggling against Norwich without him. United are a side that pretty much always wins the "bad games", and are especially strong at home, if not the best in the country. Even if RVP is fit to play, he did get subbed off last week with an injury, and im sure Ferguson would rather not risk him and just have him rested/well trained for the biggest game of the season. And btw, Norwich is a pretty rough team to play. They dont tackle like chicks, no offense.

It would make a lot of sense for him to get some minutes in before the RM game. The loss of momentum of having played little football prior to a big game is a lot worse than getting minutes against Norwich this weekend. He doesn't need rest, he's had a week and played less than half a game on the weekend. I would be concerned as a United fan if he got no minutes from the Norwich game going into the RM game where he could end up being a little rusty.

Rvp wont lose his touch or finesse after 10 days. The man is total class. If it were me, no way i`d risk him a) messing up his back again or b) getting sawed down by Norwich players. And when you think about it, they do have some players that dont shy away from a big, juicy tackle.

I'd consider Rooney as a case in point as a player who regularly plays every game. Is RVP not like this? Before the season started everyone thought he would be rotated, he wasn't. Why has the situation changed now? RVP wants to play every game just as Rooney wants too. The notion of momentum going into the biggest game of the year cannot be underestimated.

People thought RVP would get rotated due to his age, past injury problems, his seemingly fragile nature. The fact remains that he played every single game for Arsenal since 2011, and hasnt been injured in quite some time now. Rooney, on the other hand is a player that NEEDS games to get his timing and game sharpish. I dont think Rvp is that kind of a player. Although most players want to play most/all games, Rvp is someone you could rest and he wouldnt lose anything.

Perhaps you are right about that. I'm sure he could go a while not playing and still be good. But I seriously, he doesn't need rest. He's had plenty, so why not play him off the bench or possibly even start him and take him off early?

Because he got injured last week. Badly enough so that he had to come off. For the first time in 40+ games. Thats something. And youre probably right. He doesnt NEED the rest, per se. But WHAT it something does happen? And hes unable to play Real only 3 days later? You`ll hate yourself for "risking" him against a bottom tier team. at home, in a game you`ll win 90% of the time regardless. Chicharito can easily cover against Norwich. He cannot against Real.

Hm. Debuchy or Harte? Both have decent assist potential (Harte edges it a little with set pieces imo), both have slim chances of CS (although Reading should really tighten up after getting battered by Wigan), and Everton may not have Fellaini and Anichebe avaliable. Lastly, Everton are shaite at defending set pieces. Im actually kind of torn.

I went RVP > Suarez but I had Lambert already. Probably Suarez still, Sturridge may not even play.
