Gareth Bale maintains his recent stunning form by grabbing the opener in the north London derby. Aaron Lennon seals victory with the second, as Theo Walcott is left to contribute the assist for Per Mertesacker’s consolation as the Gunners fall seven points behind Andre Villas-Boas’ side.

Bale Keeps Scoring
The Welshman was a huge Fantasy favourite ahead of yesterday’s derby clash. Top of the Captain Poll and transferred in by over 96,000 managers on the back of six strikes in his previous four appearances, Bale was amongst the goals yet again as Spurs stretched their lead over the Gunners to seven points. While Bale’s explosive capabilities have made him such an armband favourite in recent weeks, it’s his consistency that’s impressed the most – he has scored in all of his last five Gameweeks and earned maximum bonus in his last four – equalling Robin Van Persie’s best scoring run this season. He’s leapt in price by 0.6 in the past fortnight but with many Fantasy midfield favourites without a fixture next weekend, another substantial rise looks very much on the cards.

Sigurdsson Stakes a Claim
With Bale flourishing in a central role, Andre Villas-Boas now has a left flank conundrum on his hands. The Welshman’s move to the middle looks crucial to Tottenham’s attacking potential – Emmanuel Adebayor again drew a blank and has notched just twice this season, while Jermain Defoe climbed off the bench to continue a run which has now seen his serve up a single strike in his last 11 appearances. Having notched his first league goal of the season last weekend, Gylfi Sigurdsson was afforded a chance on the left as new boy Lewis Holtby dropped down to the bench and with Clint Dempsey still injured, the Icelandic international gave Villas-Boas plenty to ponder by supplying the assist for Bale’s opener. Sigurdsson has started just seven times this term but may have done enough to retain his place in the first XI as a buoyant Spurs roll up to Anfield next weekend. On the injury front, both Emmanuel Adebayor and Moussa Dembele were forced off but, according to post-match tweets, Villas-Boas is expecting both to be in the frame for Tottenham’s Europa League tie with Inter on Thursday.

Lennon’s Home Form
The right winger broke a four-match barren spell by slotting home a coolly-taken second to help seal victory yesterday. Granted, any Tottenham midfielder other than Bale is finding it difficult to justify any Fantasy interest but Lennon’s displays at the Lane have been pretty consistent – he has now scored or assisted in three of the last four in front of his own fans and continues to offer a decent mid-price differential.

Walcott in the Points Again
After a rare blank in last week’s home win over Villa, the Gunners midfielder produced the Fantasy points again, thanks to an assist for Per Mertesacker’s consolation. Walcott has impressed since cementing a regular starting berth back in Gameweek 11 – particularly on the road. He has now scored or assisted in each of his last seven away trips, though his owners will be a concerned over his lack of goals in recent matches; the winger has now gone four Gameweeks without finding the net. While Walcott has at least kept his points returns ticking over with assists, Olivier Giroud has now gone four league starts without any returns – a real concern for Arsene Wenger’s side. That last quartet of matches has seen Lukas Podolski drop out of the starting XI, with Santi Cazorla preferred to the German on the left and Jack Wilshere nailing down a role in the hole – Wenger may well decide to reshuffle his attacking options as the Gunners’ threat starts to dry up.

Arsenal Defensive Worries
It’s not just up front that Wenger’s side are struggling, though. Yesterday’s 2-1 defeat means they have now conceded in eight of their last 10, with only Stoke and Sunderland failing to score against the Gunners since the end of Gameweek 18. Having said that, before Sunday’s game, the Gunners had conceded just 11 goals on their travels, keeping five shut-outs – the best record in the league. Consistency is the issue, however and with a blank Gameweek on the horizon next weekend and a trip to Swansea to follow, owners of the likes of Wojciech Szczesny and Per Mertesacker may be considering their options. The home clash against Reading in Gameweek 31 and a double Gameweek 33 at home to Norwich and Everton on the horizon, may yet allow Wenger’s men to turn things around and give their defensive assets a stay of execution.

I don't know why but I always thought FPL Headquarters were based in India. Blame Danny Boyle for the stereotype/cliché but I had imagined it was like a call center with guys totting up the baps and there was a room at the back with a 'Do Not Enter' sign where there is a big red button that says UPDATE GAME/INITIATE BAPS and security guards with whips guarding the entrance.

I lost the least selling RVP. That will be true for anyone who bought him in the last 10 gameweeks as he has barely risen in that time. And I could buy him back for 0.3 less next week. That was the plan, but then Suarez went mental so I might just keep him. Also, this is a good opportunity to swap over to Rooney

Walcott would lose me more money.

Also, I was sure that of the 0.3 I would lose selling him, he would drop by 0.2 anyway, minimising the loss. As it goes, I might even make money by the time I get him back...

    Current team for 29

    Mignolet
    Harte Clyne Davies
    Bale Michu
    Sturridge

Got 2 free transfers, and a wildcard up my sleeve. Don't think its worth the WC, but I'll use my freebies to get 9 out. That Pog suspension has really cost me, I got him with an eye on this week (as did many others I guess).

My non players are Baines, Demel, Fellaini, Mata, RVP, Pog, Walcott

Thinking Baines > Johnson and Pog > Remy might be worth a shout. I'm going to want all my others back fairly sharpish if I get rid, but maybe theres a hit to be had there. Opinions?

    7 players (Guthrie won’t play) for GW29 and 2FT:
    Bunn (Cesar)
    Fabio Davies Clichy Harte (Demel)
    Guthrie Sessegnon Sissoko (c ) (Mata,Walcott)
    Sturridge (Aguero, RVP)

2FT use on Aguero to Benteke; Mata to Bale & -4 hit for Demel to Glen Johnson for 10 players

    C) Mata to Michu
    D) Aguero to Lukaku

    Will Sturridge be okay?

thats funny i was making this point in the pub the other day.
You cannoy deny he has monkey-like features, but pointing this out is not considered racist because he is white. However, when the same comparison is made with another prominent black footballer that i mentioned, who also has an ape-like gait, it becomes racist

answer is of course no, but there is a wider issue about what constitutes racism. Sadly, until it is accepted that anyone regardless of skin colour can be a victim of racism then it will persist. Basically we're all just people trying to along. 🙂

i understand this, but was posing the question as to whether it is or not
i suppose its a common form of degradation rather than a genuine observation on an individual, such as Bale, that is the problem, and although with regards the black player i was thinking of mine was a genuine observation of that individual alone, it's the common use of the comparison without genuine observation that is the problem

Afternoon all - just planning a major reshuffle to me team - is it better to have Sissoko and Jay Ramirez, or cheaper mid and a more potent striker (Kone, Lambert, Lukaku etc)?

(And I have Le Fondre as 3rd stiker currently, so even Ramirez is an 'upgrade' for me)

Thanks HEC087 (and sorry all!) - I meant Jay Rodriguez. He's registered as striker and usually plays in hole behind Lambert, I think

Quite like J Rod & Sissoko but Lukaku and Kone look like good options to me too (ignoring Kone blank this GW) 🙂

This. Though I'd go for Sissoko right now, he's been doing so well, and fixtures.

There was a european football statistics site that was quoted on here a few weeks ago. On it you could enter in a player name and check his minutes played and output/activity in every game. Anyone kind enough to give me the name of the site? Thanks.

In 1972 , a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem…if no one else can help…and if you can find them…maybe you can hire…The A- Team 😉

I was all set to drop Pienaar and then up he pops with 12pts and 3/4 home games after the blank.

I'm relying on Sturridge to play and have ten if he does.

Rooney,Yaya and Azpilicueta my other blanks this week (Team linked)

Is it worth leaving as is, or transfer which one out?

Take a chance with 10. Lots have less than that playing. 2 FTs next week when we should have all the DGW news. Nice score this week Flynny!

Thanks RCA, a bit lucky with Suarez for a hit after Sturridge was doubtful.

Think I'd leave as is. I'd lean toward Yaya out, but options to bring in ain't great. Schtick! Should hear more about Sturr b4 end of week so you'll be a bit wiser after that, hopefully.

I've only just got him in due to form Holy See. Little or no rotation risk too.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I'll certainly leave it till the end of the week, go with ten if they are all fit.
