We’re down to just 64 teams in Paddy Power Members Cup, as Gameweek 28 saw another round of managers fall by the wayside.

Former winner “Fuzzy Dunlop” remains in the mix, edging his way through to the fourth round with a narrow 75-72 victory over “Stills”. The community juggernaut that is “Evs” also rolls on – ranked 14th in the world, he disposed of his third round opponent, “ff addict” by a convincing 81-66 scoreline. As for the contributors, Paul remains in the hat, cruising to a 64-52 victory over “Schnitzengrubens”.

With a decimated Gameweek 29 providing the next round of matches, we could see some upsets next time around. The draw for the fourth round will be published tomorrow afternoon.

Guys, anyone think getting Benteke and Coutinho in for Noble and Dzeko for a double hit is a good idea?

My thinking is if they have a game without any goals/assists (scoring 2 points) ill basically only be costing -2 points for each transfer because I wouldve scored 0 points anyways.

    Any thoughts/opinions appreciated

There's a risk coutinho will be benched vs Spurs but I think long term he's a good option and with Dzeko perhaps dropping out of favour now it's hard to fault these moves I think.

remy VS benteke is doing my head in.

Remy has 4 good fixtures [SUN, avl, ful, WIG] and will enable me to be RVP next week.
Benteke has 2 good fixture [rdg, QPR] and will only allow me to get rooni next week.
however, over the next two games, i feel benteke might do better than remy...

    any helpful insight?

Are we talking Reading that have only kept 2 CS all season and that was between 26-29 Dec? The same reading that have conceded 17 goals in the last 8 games and could(should have) have conceded 10 goals vs EVE last week?

Did i mention Reading might be missing their no 1 keeper?

Yea I get all that but this is a very poor team and Reading could easily sneak a 1-0 , do you catch my drift I just feel that this Benteke is a massive gamble - MO that's all.

1-0 for Reading, will do me fine as I have Pearce 😀

I(like most) need FPL points on the board this time of the season and most will be missing the big hitters Rvp/Mata/Walcott so it's a risk worth taking.

I'd rather get 2 pts from Benteke then a possible 2 from a defender this week. Plus Benteke is good to go for his next round as well.

          Calculated risk I would say.

Would someone do me a big favour and RMT for this week? My confidence is shot after 3 appalling weeks.

    Bunn
    Clyne Harte Davies Dawson
    Kebe* Michu Bale Sissoko
    Suarez Sturridge

Haven't made my trades yet. Should I get Benteke instead of Suarez?

Might be better to look at Kebe > Schneiderlin or similar?

The captain debate is doing my head in this week - asked last night and got 4 different choices from 4 replies!
Here's how I see my contenders:
Bale - in the league form of his life, but against a Liverpool defence that may have one of their stubborn days.
Suarez - also in great form, but has misfired at Anfield, has Sturridge back up front and against a tight Spurs back line.
Lambert - can't fault his away form, but can't fault Norwich's home defensive record. Irresistable force against immovable object?
Benteke - he needs the goals, Villa need the win and Reading are liable to ship goals, but I just don't trust Villa this season not to flop horribly when the heat is on. They've done it before in "must-win" games this season…
Sissoko - playing against Stoke (although is that still an issue?), didn't look particularly penetrating against Swansea.
Michu - out of form, but West Brom haven't got the defensive form lately. Although the Swans have been sharing the goals around lately.
Gerrard - worse form than Suarez, and against the same Spurs defence.

In other words, I've built myself a convincing case for all of them except Gerrard. D'oh!

    Hi guys,

I’ve been working on an alternative formula for the Fantasy Football cup. I’ve been doing it on and off for a while so there’s probably a few mistakes but I’d really appreciate your input.

Basically, I see three flaws in the cup at the moment:
    1. Not everyone is able to enter. The cup only takes the first 2^12 players (2,097,152) meaning you may miss out if you have a bad week / lots of unlucky injuries.
    2. The current structure allows people to create 2nd /3rd teams in GW16/17 and cruise into the cup with wildcards intact.
    3. If you’re Rank 1st or 2millionth, you still need to get through the same amount of rounds. My system incorporates byes for top ranked teams (like the FA Cup), showing the importance of a good rank and giving an advantage to those who have earned one.
Formula is here: http://tinyurl.com/c8hjors- sorry for bad screenshot, I’ll upload a proper one when my internet is back at home.

    NB
    # The “magic number” (1,268,608) is what is needed to produce the powers of 2 later on in the competition in line with the ‘byes’ I’ve implemented.
    # The formula works between 1,768,608 and 3,037,216 players, so won’t be a problem for FPL

Thanks for reading, and the inevitable knowledgeable input from FFS members 🙂

I'm not saying sell ALL of them. Just saying that if say you needed 1 player to make up starting 11 then there is nothing wrong selling one of them and buying him back next week.

It's about points on the board and this week especially a small overall score could shoot you up the rankings.

7 players are a bit little me thinks, but I suppose your hands are tied.

In addition, the doublers will generally be better players, in better teams, than those who are playing this week. I think people without a WC left shouldn't be spending points (or indeed FTs) to field a good team this week if they are therefore compromising their squad for the DGWs to come (eg by removing say Fellaini or Walcott).

Morning all. Best midfield option for under 8m (already have Sissoko)?. Current shortlist is looking very generic:

      Snodgrass
      Sessegnon
      N'Zog

I was set on bringing in Sess (for Felaini) but I am wavering and considering a cheap option instead (like Schneiderlin) as a ultra cheap mid to carry me through to end of season. Thoughts?

Right better go do some work, but before I do, any suggestions as to my plan for this GW:-

      Team:
      Fed(?)
      Davies / Harte / Cuellar(?)
      Bale / Michu / Sissoko
      Suarez / Remy (c)

      Tremmel / Zaba / JEvans / Maloney / Walcott / RVP

      Thoughts:
Have used my 2FTs and really not keen taking a hit this week, coz I expect scores to be relatively low and a hit this week will be proportionally a bigger hit than normal IMO. Also transferring out more DGWers means more t/fers needed after this week. Oh, I still have my WC which i'm keeping for the monster DGWs coming up 🙂

Jevan > Debuchy/santon as he's not guaranteed Gametime but for a hit I'm not so sure but the fact you can't trust Saf sways me to the hit and Suarez c IMO .

Kinda want Benteke this week, but is he worth getting at the expense of Suarez? Can currently only field 6 likely starters (plus Marveaux) this week. Both the below are for 4 pointers.....

      A) Mata, Fellaini & Aguero -> Sissoko, Snodgrass & Suarez (leaves enough in the bank for Marveaux -> Lampard next week, or

      B) Marveaux, Fellaini & Aguero -> Sissoko, Snodgrass & Benteke (leaves 2.7m in the bank, ie enough to double on CHE attack with Lamps, or even to save the transfer next week)
