We’re down to just 64 teams in Paddy Power Members Cup, as Gameweek 28 saw another round of managers fall by the wayside.

Former winner “Fuzzy Dunlop” remains in the mix, edging his way through to the fourth round with a narrow 75-72 victory over “Stills”. The community juggernaut that is “Evs” also rolls on – ranked 14th in the world, he disposed of his third round opponent, “ff addict” by a convincing 81-66 scoreline. As for the contributors, Paul remains in the hat, cruising to a 64-52 victory over “Schnitzengrubens”.

With a decimated Gameweek 29 providing the next round of matches, we could see some upsets next time around. The draw for the fourth round will be published tomorrow afternoon.

So I assume at this point on a Wednesday that the GW29 games are set as scheduled, and there is not enough time to cram in a Man City - Wigan game next week on such short notice. I've made my FT, so my team for GW29 looks like this:

    Foster
    Cuellar - Cameron - Clyne
    Sissoko - Bale - Michu
    Lambert (C) - Benteke (VC) - Suarez

    Can't play:

    Jaaskelainen
    Mertesacker - Demel
    Walcott - Mata

Is it really worth taking a -4 to get someone else in at this point? I think my front 6 should get enough points to see me through this gameweek.

Even though neither of em look all that likely to start based on recent matches it's not worth gambling on defenders with 4 point hits - if you really want an extra player look for a mid instead

You want to take points hits for defenders?

Besides which, both could play. If he's taking a hit better off doing it to get a mid in for Mata or Theo. But he has 3 good strikers this week.

After Suarez and Benteke's respective performances last GW, I find it amazing that people are going to captain the latter.

Before you think I'm just picking on Benteke (Yes, I'm talking to you Unreal), I'd say that Bale aside, it's hard to put the armband on anyone else.

But Spurs have been good defensively, and Liverpool too. I don't expect more than 3 goals in that match. On the other hand, both Reading and Villa can't defend, there may be a lot of goals in that one.

I just think it's hard to go from having barely any shots on goal in 2 games, to turning on a great performance. Liverpool have been having a ridiculous number of attempts on goal at Anfield this year.

Reading is organised like fire-fighters trying to put out a forest fire with leaky buckets.

Benteke is an elite forward and should have a field day.

Yes but last week Suarez was playing a Wigan side that genuinely do look complete and utter sh*te. Suarez does that to those kind of teams. He doesn't put teams like Spurs to the sword in the same way.

Spurs are better than Liverpool so you would expect a close game but not a goal fest.

However, Benteke is a beast and, quite frankly, Reading cannot defend. Neither can Villa for that matter, but Benteke up against that Reading defence should be very fruitful for Benteke owners.

Both teams need to win that game so they will surely have to both create loads of chances and leave plenty of gaps at the back.

Benteke v Reading defence is a mismatch.

Both are bad teams but I can't see Reading shutting Benteke out, I really can't. Whereas I can see Spurs blanking Suarez, especially if Sturridge is back too.

Come on Bolton 5 pts behind Brighton & we play them on Sat, but they have a game in hand.

If we beat them 2 pts behind them, i think we will finish in the playoff positions!
I think the squad is strong enough, its a shame Mark Davies is out, but Eagles, Pratley, Spearing, Sordell, even N Gog, Dawson, K & C Davies, Lee, Ricketts & Alonso are decent players.

Only my humble opinion, but people going with 8/9/10 starters and not taking a hit, or even worse, saving their freebie are mistaken imo. There is loads of time to stock up again on dgw players without taking hits but the losses suffered this week may never be recovered..

        I agree with this.

Fixtures don't look like justifying mad hits. I think 9 players will be plenty this GW. Liverpool Spurs looks like being a low scoring tight game, as does Norwich v Southampton.

Villa v Reading looks like this weeks high scorer, Newcastle v Stoke, QPR v Sunderland and WBA v Swansea all look like they could go either way but just one goal in if there's a win.

I've never had a WC in the second half of the season, and I always seem to cope with the big DGW. I'm loving this week, some of my closest ML rivals need to take a hit just to get 6/7 out.

Disagree - if your taking hits it has to be for consistent scorers not the likes of Benteke and Ramirez. Most of the big FPL teams (ars, che, mci, mufc, eve) are out so we have limited options of who to get in.

thats my point - most of the elite players have a blank (bar bale and liverpool) - so there are few like for like replacements for elite players meaning you have to take a hit to downgrade, or for a defender (who may not even score 2)

Ok, I have taken a hit to get Samba and Sissoko for Baines and Fellaini. They both have better fixtures than Everton and the funds get me RVP back next week.. Knock holes in that if you can

Well, Baines and Fellaini play for better team and Baines has pens to fall back on.

I think some of us don't see the point of taking a 4/8 pt hit to get rid of players like, say, Mata or Walcott and then have to take more points hits because we will want them back the week after.

And its very risky taking pts hit for defenders this weekend as they could all end up conceding. Even if they get a clean sheet that would still only put you up by 2 pts.

That said, I'm contemplating an 8 pointer this GW but that would be for mids and strikers not any defs.

You make the assumption that their replacement will get 2 points min, which they may well not do. Particularly a defender, and particularly when theres so few good players to choose from that you'd not only want this week but afterwards as well.

We need wins now though and Redknapp has already said we are going to have to be more attacking now. If we are going to stay up Remy is going to have to get the goals for us.

I like Benteke and will be getting him in this weekend along with Remy. I like Lukaku too but Clarke p*sses about too much with West Brom lineup for my liking.

Plus WBA are safe. This is the business end of the season. Go for players who have things to play for.

QPR score less than 1 goal per game and play with everyone behind the ball despite Remy thriving on crosses. Until this changes and fast overlapping backs are used (Fabio etc) their attack will remain impotent.

        See above.

Redkanpp changed formation against Southampton and has said we have to be more attacking now.

Men behind the ball against Spurs Man City and Chelsea for understandable reasons.

Plus Remy only played 3 games. If he gets chances, which he will, he will score. Also has 3 p*ss poor defences coming up.

However, perfectly understandable if you are reticent on QPR players. Benteke is an equally good choice and not just for a 1 week punt either.
