Having failed to produce any attacking returns in his last three appearances, and with no league fixture on his agenda this weekend, Juan Mata is being sacrificed by significant numbers of Fantasy managers in an attempt to address the conundrum that is Gameweek 29. The Spaniard has been sold on by over 46,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, more than any other player so far but with three home games in four following directly on from his blank (WHM, sou, SUN, TOT), the potential for points is just around the corner. In this latest article for members, we take a look at his recent displays to ascertain whether there is any reason behind his current malaise.

Have to say I find the comments of Forca Inter regarding the rules of following a football club to be very immature and reductionist. Surprised more didnt disagree

And I thought only MU fans complaining about referee was pain in th @ss...
So, I need a little help from you guys :
Sold Onuoha for Debuchy, and now I have starting X instead of XI
Fed
Harte-R.Martin-Davies-Debuchy-ZABALETA
Michu-Bale-Sissoko
Suarez-Lambert
Bench : Migs, RvP, Mata, Walcott
Should I sell Zabaleta? If yes, for whom ??
Cheers 😉Open Controls -
So
a) Keep Pog and have RvP and Suarez (but have to play Sissoko every week
b) Get Benteke and have Rooney and Suarez allowing for rotation
This will be until all the fixtures have been announced so i can wc for the DGW(s)Open Controls-
I would go a), I expect an RVP charge for the golden boot and even though I own Benteke I think rotating a reasonably strong front 8 is not the way forward.
Open Controls-
the only problem I have with that is that it does leave me restricted for doubles later as I may have to sell Bale.
Open Controls-
But the doubles are a long time away and we all know how quick things change in FPL. Also the further away the doubles are the easier it is to get rid of people like Suarez and Bale because you're closer to the end of the game then. (For example if the doubles are post 35 I think everybody in my team becomes expendable)
Hope that helpedOpen Controls-
It does

Which do you prefer;
Snodgrass (wig) + Mata (WHM sot SUN)
Fellaini (STO) + LampardOpen Controls-
B IMO
Fellaini will be more reliable than Snodders and Lamps is someone I'm looking to acquire ASAPOpen Controls -
Might sell Mata instead this week then,
Open Controls-
I sold him for Sissoko
I'd consider selling Theo for a bit as I won't lose anything on him and can get him back on wc, but given I have Suarez and Sturridge already I don't much fancy tripling on Pool attack for the Spurs game. Unless we get a really late call on the City or United games (allowing me to get Silva or Nani) I don't know that there is anyone I'd want bar Sess, I'll need to ship him in 2 weeks.Open Controls

Football clubs are nothing but brands these days. You can't say that someone is a true fan of Coca-Cola only if they live in Atlanta because it's stupid. Being a fan of any brand is stupid.
Nobody has any real connection to their clubs unless they are/were working for the club.Open Controls-
some of us have been following there clubs before they became global brands
Open Controls -
Lol what a load of bollox. In this case, some of the toilet cleaners in the ground are classified as supporters but people like myself who go home and away and spend thousands a year aren't. Joker.
Open Controls -
Do people ever argue with you just so they can say things like, "so what do you say to that, Mr Smarty Pants!"?
Open Controls -
Also it's not as if somebody's support means more than somebody else's. Individually we make no difference to the club at all so we should all just shut the F up and put it to rest.
Open Controls -
Completely wrong. No one would be working for a club if fans never existed. If the minnows down the leagues have fans the travel all around the country to every away game. It is a form of drug.
Open Controls -
Sounds like YOU don't have any real connection to a club. The vast majority of football clubs don't have the luxury of focusing their resources and attention on the "brand" of their club. They're simply playing ball and staying afloat.
Open Controls
-
Anyone else have anything stupid and sweeping to say about fans?

He was fairly poor I thought. Or quiet maybe rather than poor.

Yup, the game was a bit crap tbh. Still pissed they made the same mistake twice in 5 minutes. Had Coquelin started that wouldnt have happened.

Well with JEvans Blank and seemingly out of favour, Jevans > GJ for GW29 seems a no brainer and then decide who to get rid of for Zab the week after.
And then DDG in for Mig for United Coverage.Open Controls-
I'll be doubling on Man U defence at think with Rafa and DDG. Think Rooney AND RvP might be just too expensive

play with 9 for no hit or 10 for -4?
will sell Theo, I won't lose anything on him.Open Controls-
Have you got Sissoko, if not I'd get him in for a -4.
If you've already got him, its a tough one, there's no clear option to bring in, I'm in a similar situation but would be getting rid of Fellaini.Open Controls-
I have got Sissoko, I got him in for Mata.
Siss is currently my vc. I have limited (c) options this week
There is Sess, but I'll want rid of him in 2 weeks.Open Controls-
Yep, fancy QPR to get a result against Sunderland this weekend too.
If Ben Arfa plays on Thursday, I'm considering a midfield double up on us for a couple of weeks.Open Controls-
hmm, could be a shout, Hatem also on pens though right?
Open Controls-
Probably. Cabaye has an outside chance of keeping them.
If it wasn't for this illness he's had this last week, he would have played some part at Swansea and would be in line to start in Russia ahead of the weekend. Might be too soon for him to start but I'll wait and see until after Thursday.Open Controls-
Might just keep the 4 points.
Kinda wishing I'd sold Theo over Mata given the GW30 fixtures, but Mata is 9.9 now and that's what I bought him for I thinl (I sold him for 10). I may have paid 9.8 so at worst it will only cost me 0.1 to get him back but i think Theo is the Arsenal cover to have, Hazard and Lamps are cheaper than Mata and could easily outscore himOpen Controls

The way I see it is this... it's a matter of language, and in particular the choice of words we use...
A fan or a supporter... IMO a supporter is a person who has directly contributed to the revenue of any given football team on a matchday - ie ticket, programme, food and beverages, merchandise etc...
Please don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying that to be called a supporter you have to go to every single home match or have been to every game in the last year, not at all... It's just my opinion that to be called a supporter you have to have participated in a matchday experience...
IMO a fan is a person who admires any given team... whether it be for how they play or for their history or reputation... it doesn't matter... but I don't think this person can be called a supporter...
I do sympathize with overseas fans, this is where it gets a little trickier... obviously it's hard for them to get to matches, so you could argue that paying for Foxtel or even drinking in the bars where the footie is shown is directly contributing to the clubs, since the bar pays for the licence to show the game on Foxtel (Sky), who in turn pay the football clubs for the rights to show their games...
But then we are left with the question of UK citizens who drink in bars to watch the game rather than going to the match, are they supporters if they've never been to a game...? 😕 I don't really think I can answer that one given my argument above...Open Controls-
For me its always about having a life long commitment unless the club do something completely immoral. Be there for the good and the bad. But if you want to watch a team win loads of matches then whats wrong with that?
Open Controls -
So if you want Forca to feck off you should just buy shares in your club 😆
Open Controls-
Buying shares is another way to support a club, I forgot about that one...
Open Controls-
Anything different than Forza is fan or supporter 😛 😆
Open Controls -
Even then it doesn't necessarily make them a supporter, they might just be looking to invest in a business for financial turnaround.
Open Controls -
but being a supporter doesn't mean you have to be an idiot, almost which you almost certainly would be if you bought shares in a football club 😉

I support Brighton because I'm from there. Never even occured to me to support anyone else. Now I live somewhere without a league team so its a free for all for my sons. Eldest supports Manchester United, as they are on tele alot and he likes Wayne Rooney. But I'm not going to start hassling him for not going to Old Trafford or not buying a programme. I'm not even going to hassle him for not supporting Brighton. He doesn't live there so why should he support them?
I'm just glad he likes and understands football so in a few years time I can train him up for fantasy football. 😉Open Controls-
And at least he is a man 😛
Open Controls -
How can you let your son support United - shame on you 😉
Open Controls -
Absolutely, I'm quite open minded about the whole thing... I think it's much more important that your sons are interested and enjoy watching/playing football... not so much who they support or follow...
Fantasy football is the epitome of their training... 😉Open Controls

Has anyone uploaded the amusing footage of red-faced Ferguson stomping down the Old Trafford steps? I'd love to watch that again, I'm in need of a laugh.
Open Controls -
"GLORY HUNTING FOREIGN MANCHESTER UNITED FANS", says Forca INTER, sat behind his keyboard in Croatia.
Ah irony, you are so delicious.Open Controls-
When Inter came in his town for CL match he went out with the new girlfriend not even watching the game on TV, live in the stadium out of question.
That tell you about the " fan in him" 😛Open Controls

What if the town/city you live in don't have a football team?
Are you allowed to be a plastic then?Open Controls-
Find one.
Open Controls -
My nearest club when I grew up was Crawley/Crystal Palace, but unsurprisingly everyone was either an Arsenal or Chelsea fan.
Open Controls -
In England? Very few of those surely
Open Controls -
To be quite honest I'm sure many of us support a team because of fathers more than anything.
Open Controls -
I don't blame plastics for supporting Utd or Chelsea if they live in some dump, with only an amateur or non-league football team.
Open Controls-
So they opt for those clubs. I wonder why? A clue, PLASTIC!
Open Controls-
-
They should all be recycled! They are a disease in football!
Open Controls-
What do you expect? People living in the bog arse of nowhere deciding "Oh I know, I'll support Hartlepool!"
People from such places will be drawn to teams they can watch and who they've heard of/who have some of the world famous football players. Funnily enough it's because teams with better players tend to play better football and be more enjoyable to watch. I know funny how that works isn't it!?Open Controls

I've seen talk of a DGW in GW31 for the teams whose GW29 fixture is yet to be arranged.
The Tuesday-Thursday following the weekend games have European ties.
I don't think the games will be played then, especially the United one which will probably be televised.
I think it's safe to assume they won't be until GW33 or later.
Can we put this rumour to bed now?Open Controls-
well GW33 is FA cup semis weekend, so at least 2 of the teams (either Wigan or Everton and United or Chelsea) will only have 1 game that week.
Open Controls-
Yeah, thought so, thanks. 2 double GWs would be better.
You reckon City's DGW will be GW33? Would be tough to justify keeping Zabaleta if not given his GW32 and GW34 fixtures.Open Controls-
Doubt it, City play Barnsley, would back them to win, thus meaning they will have a semi and thus no fixture GW33. Problem with Zaba is he's now 6.2 so you lose 0.1 on him.
If they reach the semis I think selling him might be a good idea though

A real fan is someone who can cry/be close to tears if their team loses an important game. It also has to be a lifelong thing. If you just give up then you are not a real supporter.
I'm from Ireland and supported Sunderland through thick and thin...the record-breaking low points scores in the prem and the years scrapping it out in the championship.
There are glory fans and they mainly support Man Utd/City/Chelsea but to say I'm not a real fan of Sunderland is a joke. I've been close to tears after games we have failed in or when we've been relegated or failed to make it up from the playoffs. Screw you guys...HOME!Open Controls-

Agree and relate to you completely, have a good mate that supports Vila, he adore the club, and folows football big time. Have excellent discussions with him in the pub. Man utd and Liverpool fans, have no interest and are quite condescending and smug.
Open Controls-
Basically, you can tell the difference between real fans and glory hunters, it's as simple as that. I have friends in school who just don a Man Utd jersey when there's a big game on then forget about everything after it. I think the people who get annoyed most about these glory fan claims are the people who genuinely support a successful team and are just lumped into these groups, which is unfortunate. But claiming someone who supports Sunderland/Villa is a glory hunter would just be hilarious. Which is why I feel annoyed when people claim you have to live right next to the stadium to be a fan!
