[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

A raft of weekend bookings saw as many as five Premier League protagonists clamber onto the Suspension Tightrope after receiving their ninth caution of the campaign. One more yellow for any of our quintet triggers an automatic two-match ban now – bearing in mind the curfew is up to and including the Sunday April 14 (Gameweek 33), there’s every chance at least a couple could succumb to suspension.

The five guilty parties are Marouane Fellaini, David Luiz, Gary Caldwell, Craig Gardner and Matthew Lowton, with the first two the obvious concern for Fantasy managers. With Everton looking forward to a double Gameweek 33 (QPR, ars), Fellaini will be a clear target for investment but, in order to avoid the ban, has to engineer four league matches without falling foul of the referee – a Gameweek 31 home clash with Stoke, where he comes face to face with Ryan Shawcross once again, is likely to test his temperament. The frustrating thing for those looking to draft him in for the double is that even if Fellaini manages to go the next three without receiving a yellow, a booking in the first match of the double (at home to QPR on Saturday April 13) would take him over the 10-card limit and leave him unavailable for the second match of the Gameweek, away to Arsenal three days later.

Luiz will potentially teeter on the Tightrope for five games. The Chelsea defender currently has four league games and an FA Cup Sixth Round replay against United also set to take place before Gameweek 33 – depending on the result of that match, he will subsequently have either three league fixtures and a Semi-Final on his agenda or four league games, should United knock the Blues out. There’s also the somewhat unlikely scenario of a sixth game, though. If Rafa Benitez’s side are knocked out of both the FA Cup and Europa League, the Premier League could theoretically reschedule their trip to Fulham, initially set for last weekend, to a date prior to Gameweek 33.

While Gardner, Lowton and Caldwell all have four games apiece before the deadline, the latter could have five matches to prevail. Wigan’s trip to City, initially scheduled for Gameweek 29, has yet to be given a new date – although both sides are through to the Semi-Finals, City’s lack of European action may yet see the match take place before Gameweek 33, affording both clubs a double and adding an extra fixture for Caldwell to navigate.

In terms of those already on the sidelines, both Pavel Pogrebnyak and Robert Huth are set to serve the last of their respective three-match bans for serious foul play and violent conduct respectively, this weekend. Villa’s Fabian Delph sits out the second of a two-match ban – he was the first player to break through the 10 card barrier earlier this month.

      I like your thinking.
I am tempted to get rid of Studge for Ba, but I can't be sure he'll be starting. Same is with Tevez.
Allthough it is quite expected after this weekend it's just not 100 % sure.

      But to answer you, Ba.

Evening. Any thoughts on whether I use a transfer this week or sit tight and gather resources for the dgws to come? Thanks.
    Mig Bunn
    Davies Debuchy Demel Turner Harte
    Bale Michu Walcott Sess Siss
    RVP Suarez Benteke
Am tempted to hold on and then ship Mig for Eliot and use the extra money to get a better defender who has a dgw in the future.

I know - I hate using any transfers on GK, let alone the handful we have left, but my WC of Migs is not working out and my backline just isn't getting the pts I need. I'm about 1 CS from 4 each week and it is killing my scores.

I am in simmilar situation. Don't need to use FT, but don't have Chelsae cover and thinking to do
      Gerrard -> Hazard;
      Snodgrass -> Oscar or

        Sure
        Hmm
Just got rid -- took a long time to admit it but Chelsea do not play well with him up top compared to Torres. I know everyone on here dogs El Niño but he is amazing at getting in position with his back to goal and chesting, heading, leaving ball for mids to come in and dominate. Mata owes him big time.
I actually like Ramires for value. He seems to play all the time.

Three options (assuming a full fixture list this weekend):

    C: Do nothing

As I was turning in I saw your post about the DZ draft last night and choosing certain players as elite and going one at a time -- kind of what Katie and Laernu were saying during the picks. Do you think there would be interest in picking guys for several weeks, then allowing for changes, transfers, etc.? Am just trying to give a nice twist to the end of the season now that we're in the 30s.

I was just putting it out there, I'm not sure how it would work. I actually like the game, I think it just looked unfair once Pep picked the best 5 (on paper) as soon as the post arrived. But he didn't win, so perhaps he didn't have an advantage after all!

I think it would have to be a weekly thing, just perhaps say that we all have one pick first, out of the 'premium' choices, and then it's a free-for-all for the remaining 4?

Not sure what the others would think about this.

Interesting. Maybe not even call them premium and just go one each for the first stretch of time/round and then the rest after that? Something to consider.

That could work. It would just stop the first to reply having the 2 or 3 best players for that week. I think it was worse in a week where mid-price strikers were who everyone wanted!

Leave as is. The obvious picks don't always win. The week I won someone took my picks so I had to be creative about it.

Also I enjoy the simplistic nature of it. makes out more fun

For me, the problem with Pepin jumping in before everyone else this particular week was there was only 6 games and limited options, he picked 3 big strikers and they're automatically gone. It seemed a tad unfair as more than any other week the obvious picks were cheap but limited in their number. So after two picks basically all the budget strikers were taken. Seemed a bit unbalanced allowing that. And in fairness he came second, and he would have won it had Lukaku not missed the pen.

My season's gone to sh%t! Wrong decisions, delayed decisions, jumping on bandwagons/in-form players too late, losing my "rep" in my ML and being ridiculed by everyone. (I topped the ML last season and won another mini competition we had as well - I was also renowned for spotting differentials and starting good bandwagons early thanks to FFS folks, started off this season brilliantly as I got in Michu & Petric GW1)

    Just venting here. Danke

I'd try to better my rank before giving up and going all in with punts... Make sure you have all the staples: Suarez, Bale, Walcott and RVP

Then you can have a couple punts in the mid/ final forward slot as there's no clear standout options ATM.

Buck stick with it, best of luck

    Need some advice guys.. 🙂

What to do with this lot :

    Migs

    Dawson - Enrique - Davies

    Walcott - Mata - Bale - Michu

    RVP - Sturridge - Lambert

subs - fed turner harte punch

    2 FT 1.8M

    - I was thinking Harte > Clichy/Evans

Or anything else you would change first?

    cheers

i have punch & a Reading def like you and i think i'd settle the mid spot first since there's a possibilty to play the 5th mid if there will be blanks for Manu/Chelsea. plus, i don;t think you'll play your 5th def more than often. i'm thinking punch > maloney but still unsure.

Cheers, but i am thinking i will play Clichy or Evans every week, where as a 5th Mid would only get played once every blue moon, therefore i might just get rid of Harte now, as i can hopefully play all my mids!

That's my main doubt atm. Siss away isn't famous and I don't like to bench strikers. But then again Michu's form has been so poor. I just got him the past week so this would be his last appearance.

Really stuck with my Forwards, 1.8m to spend

    Have : RVP Sturridge Lambert

I could downgrade Michu to 6.5Mid and do Sturridge > Suarez, or could just stick, what you rekon?

Get Suarez. Maybe post your whole team, saying how much you need to fund the move

    I'm totally confused:
    1) Yesterday many here were saying Sunderland vs Man U will be postponed due to FA Cup replay so both will have blank GW 31.. Now someone said in last page Man U vs Reading may be postponed instead.. What's going on guys? Is it highly likely to be United & Chelsea blank in either GW 30 or GW 31?
    2) If the presence of these mess would you suggest me to buy RVP for a hit?

      1) the game has to be played before the semi finals which are in gw 33 so a blank in either gw 30 or 31 is looking pretty likely.

      2) not now. wait and see the deal with these blanks first

Word on the street (There was a BBC article floating around) is gameweek 30 cannot be a blank, too short of notice. 31 still could be in jeopardy, but I have no idea how likely/unlikely that is. I think definitely wait until Thursday so we can see whether Chelsea advance in Europa.
