Alan Pardew has been dealt a bitter blow, with Hatem Ben Arfa set to be ruled out for the season – the winger requires surgery on his ongoing hamstring injury. Yohan Cabaye has “half a chance” of making the Magpies’ trip to Wigan on Sunday, after he was subbed off with a recurrence of a groin problem in last night’s Europa League win over Anzhi.

Adel Taarabt has recovered from the knock that kept him out of last weekend’s win over Sunderland, while Harry Redknapp is optimistic that both Julio Cesar and Armand Traore will be available to return for a crucial trip to Villa Park after reporting “a fairly clean bill of health” in this morning’s press conference.

Sam Allardyce has real doubts over midfield duoe Mark Noble and Kevin Nolan as the Hammers make their way to Stamford Bridge, Matt Taylor has returned to training and could make the squad, though Joe Cole misses out against his former club. George McCartney could be named in Sunday’s squad if he completes a 45 minute run out for the Under 21 side today without any problems.

Anthony Pilkington is out for “two to three weeks” with a hamstring problem for Norwich, while Chris Hughton gave Fantasy managers a heads-up after he revealed he hopes to have John Ruddy back for the end of the month.

        I am comfortable. It was only a couple of weeks ago that Sturridge was seen as possibly a better option with Suarez out left and playing deep. Sturridge was lacking sharpness last week after injury. As a Liverpool supporter, Suarez has been unbelievable, but if Sturridge starts firing like he was, the tune will change again. Sturridge can match maybe even better Suarez from now till the end IMHO

            I don't think I will be doing much more now, unless a dreaded injury occurs of course.

            The only thing I am looking at now is Marveaux out, I'm thinking of downgrading Cesar if a keeper at a lower price is playing regularly. Meaning I can upgrade to Maloney. But I've also considered van Persie to Rooney, or Mata to Hazard/Oscar or Lampard.

            Ideally I would like to get Suarez in again. But I aint doubling up. So Sturridge would have to make way, meaning I'd have to find what, £4mill? :/

            But I have faith in Sturridge. So I'm cool.

    Lads, this is just my opinion but I can see Rafa and Buttner starting tomorrow. We know Fergie has said his full backs are knackered, but Rafa is not in the Brazil sqaud and so has 2 weeks off after tomorrow, plenty of rest time. Although Clichy clouds the issue, Evra is in the France squad and so could play 180mins, making his more likely to be rested

    Also remember that the last time Buttner played at home to a side in the bottom 3 or 4 he got 17 points.

    trying to make it FPL relevant i'm not sure getting more of his points via assists will be too damaging at all, if at all. for a striker a goal and assist are pretty identical, the main difference often coms with resulting bps with goals being much more ppi friendly. however less shots should mean less shot off target too so it evening out. almost how suarez scoring less of liverpool's goals with sturridge in the team isn't too big a deal if liverpool are scoring more goals. if the pie is bigger a thinner slice can be just as much pie.
    for example suarez has scored just 4 of the 17 liverpool goals with sturridge on the pitch (would be 18 but the 5th goal against norwich, an og, sturirdge was off the pitch). 4 out of 17 would be completely unthinkable pre-sturridge, but these 17 have come in just 6 matches, matches which have included man utd, man city and tottenham.
    if you think the difference is a bit of a myth, suarez has scored 7 of liverpool's last 10 goals without sturridge playing. overall FPL wise though it hasn't hurt him as liverpool are scoring more goals with sturridge in the side, he's getting more assists with sturirdge in the side, and he's still getting plenty of bonus too.
    will a fit sturridge allow rvp back in the golden boot race? maybe. liverpool look great though with sturridge, coutinho and a suarez with more freedom.
