United extend the gap over City to 15 points but Reading limit the league leaders to a solitary Wayne Rooney strike at Old Trafford. Rotation at the back and another blank from Robin Van Persie leaves most Fantasy managers frustrated, though:

On the Up

Wayne Rooney
An avalanche of goals was expected this evening but it was down to the former Everton man to prove the difference. Rooney took his tally to five in the last six and with a couple of assists also thrown in over that period, he’s proving key to Sir Alex Ferguson’s side at a time where many other attacking options are failing to flourish.

David De Gea
While Sir Alex Ferguson made changes aplenty in the back-four, the Spaniard was handed a fourteenth successive start as United made it five clean sheets on the spin. Drafted in by almost 30,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers last week, De Gea’s consistency of game time looks set to keep the bandwagon rolling over the international break.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
Saturday’s results were bad enough from a Fantasy perspective before this evening’s match at Old Trafford. Van Persie was heavily backed to deliver but his poor form continued with another blank stretching his run to a single goal in six – runaway leader in this week’s Captain Poll and most captained in the FPL game, his failure could prove significant in many a mini league if the likes of Gareth Bale or Juan Mata can produce tomorrow.

Ian Harte
The left-back dropped to the bench for this evening’s visit to Old Trafford, ending a run of 12 consecutive starts for the Royals. While it’s likely that Reading will have a new manager in place by the time they travel to Arsenal in a fortnight’s time, his omission will be a concern, with Nicky Shorey looking back in the mix again.

Adam Le Fondre
Again, it’s perhaps misleading to look too much into Reading’s line-up, with Eamonn Dolan surely set to step aside for a full-time boss before the end of the international break. Despite scoring twice the number of goals than any Royals team mate this season, Le Fondre was afforded just 20 minutes off the bench at Old Trafford as Noel Hunt led the line. With Pavel Pogrebnyak now set to return from a three-game suspension, his chances of securing a regular role look further diminished.

United Back-Four Rotation
Ferguson’s decision to freshen up his back-four proved hugely frustrating to Fantasy managers. Only one player – Nemanja Vidic – kept his place from the side that line up against Norwich in the previous Gameweek; all the more annoying given the Red Devils delivered yet another clean sheet. It remains to be seen just how much more tinkering is on the cards but when the likes of Patrice Evra is rested to the bench for just the second time this term, it’s clear Ferguson has no qualms in utilising his squad options at the back.

The Bap Chap Bonus Predictions

Re-produced with kind permission from the man himself…

Villa 3 QPR 2 – Weimann 3, Agbonlahor 2, Jenas 1 (in the mix Benteke, Lowton)
Southampton 3 Liverpool 1 – Lambert 3, Rodriguez 2, Schneiderlin 1
Stoke 0 West Brom 0 – Odemwingie 3, N’Zonzi 2, Ridgewell 1 (in the mix Shawcross)
Swansea 0 Arsenal 2 – Monreal 3, Gervinho 2, Jenkinson 1 (in the mix Cazorla)
Everton 2 Man City 0 – Osman 3, Fellaini 2, Mucha 1 (in the mix Baines, Coleman)
Man United 1 Reading 0 – Rooney 3, Ferdinand 2, Giggs 1 (in the mix Smalling)

Jenkinson is only 4.0 and playing - Arsenal are currently keeping CS's for the 1st time in months - there's no guarantee Sagna will walk straight back into the starting line-up...

Personally i would wait until nearer the DGW before committing to either of them - when Sagna is fit see if he's playing before you waste a transfer...

    Aguero to Tevez
    Michu to Cazorla?

It's the only way I can raise funds for Caz and would enable me to do Caz to Mata for Chelsea's double.

    Morning all!

Berbilly, I saw you mentioned getting both RVP and Rooney for their DGW (when it's confirmed 100%). Would you trust SAF not to rotate over those 3 fixtures? If the league table looks like this come Man U DGW, I don't think I'm touching either. It's 3 games in 8 days, with the season locked down and the best squad depth in the league.

      Morning!

Interesting point and it's still a while away, but it's one of many possibilities that will most likely be determined by whether Suarez can keep his behaviour in check long enough to thwart the possibility. If Suarez isn't suspended there's no way I would do it, but I already have Rooney so with RVP's ownership, if he has a DGW i'll be bricking it for sure if I don't have him... 😐

I'll be gritting my teeth and staying away for both. Been United-less since GW28. It's scary, but long-term I don't trust those assets. Next game is a big problem in my book as well, they have Sunderland then Chelsea FA Cup game at Stamford bridge with one day's rest. If I was SAF, I don't think I'd go full-strength versus Sunderland, of course depending on how things play out during international break.

Okay. Why the lack of love for Gerrard on here?

He’s been returning great points (goal every second game, plus assists) for ages.

Plus a great set of fixtures ahead of him.

Maybe I’m wrong, but seems the consensus is to drop him.

Not arguing against dgw coverage of of course, but there’s 5 midfield slots…

Morning folks. Considering a rage transfer. I've now missed four of Arsenal's clean sheets through surprise omission of my Arsenal assets. Sagna twice, Mert once and now Szcezsney 👿

Having Szcezsney and Cerny, I have to take a hit to get a playing keeper.

    A) Cerny > Fabianski
    B) Szcezsney > DDG

A looks most sensible, with Arsenal's better fixtures and DDG's possible rotation threat. But it doesn't appease my rage much.

That's true, maybe that's the least of two evils... out of those two options I definitely favor B. I've had DDG for the last 5 GWs and it's been a blast.

Depends when they're all scheduled. I still have my wildcard but will probabl use it afterwards. Not sure what to do with it. Will have to sort my tactics out in the DZ in a few days.

At the moment i have DDG, Zab, Maloney, Walcott, Mata, Kone, Rvp. Will prob get an Arsenal defender and Caz or Lampard too

Coutinho makes a lot of sense, doesn't he? If you exclude his 13 minute cameo debut against WBA, his PPG would be 6, putting him in the same bracket as Mata, Michu, Fellaini & Walcott, all of whom are significantly dearer. His PPG is all the more meritorious when you consider that until yesterday he only had around an hour on the pitch in his three preceding games. Obviously his fitness levels are now building and more pitch time will surely follow.

Two goals and two assists in four games would make him Bale-esque if he could equate that to a season (which he couldn't of course) but at 6.7m he looks very reasonably priced at the moment especially considering Liverpool's tasty run in of fixtures.

It looks like United players may become surplus to requirements from about GW 33 or 34 on given that they will have won the title by then................Fergie has in the past looked to get players the 10 games needed to qualify for a medal.....................

Is it madness to think of benching Fellani for the2 games,
Bale/Michu/Wally/Snodgrass ... Was half thinking of doing : Snod > Maloney as I'd prob want Fella back anyway , Snod was never a keeper and this way Id have 2 Dgw players in my team , and of course more cash - Any thoughts please ?

Cant anyone see any reason for me to do any trade for GW33 except for

    Federici> Fabianski
    &
    Michu>Fellaini

    Tevez has Wigan

    Suarez has Reading

Mata and Bale i will stand to lose to much value so they are out of the picture.

So this is how it will line up for DGW

    FABIANKSI (Bunn)

    JENKINSON MCCARTNEY BAINES

WALCOTT, Bale(too much value to lose), FELLAINI, Mata(too much value to lose), Sissoko

    Suarez(RDG) RVP(C) Tevez (WIG)

If suarez is suspended i always have Sissoko as Backup playing Sunderland at home.

DOnt have to take any hits?
