Wake up and smell the coffee. The ScoutCast returns to jolt us back into life and get us prepped for another Gameweek. After another dullard international break, we come back to life over 100 minutes, delivering the usual mix of chatter, banter, debate and community spirit.

Resigned to mini-league defeat, Granville enjoys pointing out how I’m oh so wrong on the price rise tax, James McClean pre-season and Maynor Figueroa’s Gameweek potential. Jonty crashes in having leaped above me in the contributors league for a quick Rooney-themed gloat, followed by another “Full Jonty”, which this week puts focus on a “no hits please, I’m cautious” Fantasy manager from the Scout community. All the regulars squeeze in amongst that lot to deliver a lengthy wake-up call.

      Not a bad shout, but Liverpool could choke at Villa.

      Also, max I can see Sturridge getting is a goal, maybe an assist too at best, still not bad, depend on your other options.

    I have Walcott, Carzola, Bale, Gerrad, Coutinho

    On the list for this week only are Mata, Hazard, Lamps, Giggs(!), and really any other midfielder...have the cash.

      I would want Hazard for the long haul, but I reckon Lampard is your man for this week. I might also consider just keeping the transfer as you look to be in good shape and you could keep Wally.

          Well, I did Walcott to him. It's a bit of a controversial move on here, it seems, but I didn't mind losing him when he won't play on Saturday and I'd have to double up on Arsenal away @ WBA.

          GJ to Mertesacker or Monreal is a good move though.

                If Walcott is fit for the DGW is he a 'must have' in your eyes? Maybe Cazorla & Giroud will be a genuine option in a couple of weeks?

                  It all depends. If it's a United DGW, then Walcott will take one of the MID spots over any United mids. But Sagna, Caz and Giroud, with Mata and Hazard is definitely an option if Chelsea play twice.

    Quick question:

    I admit that I usually try and play the fixtures, when I should perhaps take form into account more. Say you had 2 strikers, both of similar ability and playing for a side of similar strength.

    A) Striker who has scored 5 in 6 who played tot, CHE, eve in their next 3
    B) Striker who scored 1 in 6 who had WHU, rea, STO in their next 3

      I think I'd go with B .... if they are both of equal ability, then I'd fancy a lot more team goals for them to be involved in in the second set of fixtures. Maybe I'm alone in this.

    I had a look at the anytime goalscorer odds at the major bookies and I have to say I'm surprised how far ahead Giroud is. Only one site I looked at had Aguero as more likely to score, and hot players like Bale and Suarez and even Rooney were way behind.

    Any of you guys bumped into pro football players in real time?
    I bumped into Matt Le Tissier in a bookies shop in the Bitterne triangle once in Soton..

    But more memorable to me is when Tony Adams stayed in a holiday camp where I was a barman on the Isle Of Wight. He called me Boss with that wide smile....And he laid out drinks for the staff on the bar every night he was in there. He talked gambling drink and women.

    I loved the guy.

      Was Adams off the rails when you met him? I met Carlos Tevez once in airport, posed for a quick picture with him, he is really short but very stocky, a lot more built than you would think.

      Bought a Man Utd football for my wee brother one time in Manchester, then went to Picadilly station to see someone off to Liverpool. So I'm standing there a bit bored and a guy wanders through in a terrible shell suit.

      It was George Best.

      I'm from Northern Ireland.

      I have a Manchester United ball still in the shop bag in my hand.

      Took me a while to collect my thoughts, queued up behind some wee kid who had spied him as well, and asked "Mr Best" if he would sign it. He did, clocked the accent, gave me a grin and walked off never to be seen again (by me...lots of others presumably did).

      I can still see all this vividly in my head years later.

        Good story. a man I know who has a handicapped son went to Old Trafford few years ago and his son got to meet all the players before the match for autographs (Ronaldo, Rooney, etc.). After the match he said Ryan Giggs came looking for the kid especially and took him away for about an hour, my mate said he was the nicest bloke ever met in his life.

    Just finished Season 2 of The Wire, much preferred Season 1 but this got very good in the last few episodes in fairness. How do people here who have watched it rate Season 3, 4 and 5?

      I preferred season 3 to the 2nd as the focus returns to the street. The 4th is my favorite of the lot, the one about the schools. The 5th is probably the one I liked the least (but still think it's good)

        Also one of my favourite rappers happens to be in it (Method Man as Cheese).

        I will probably have the last 3 series watched in the next month, looking forward to it now.

        I think the whole Rick going Postal storyline has been boring as hell. To be fair he seems to have come around a bit in the last couple of episodes which has helped alleviate the boredom
