Resigned to mini-league defeat, Granville enjoys pointing out how I’m oh so wrong on the price rise tax, James McClean pre-season and Maynor Figueroa’s Gameweek potential. Jonty crashes in having leaped above me in the contributors league for a quick Rooney-themed gloat, followed by another “Full Jonty”, which this week puts focus on a “no hits please, I’m cautious” Fantasy manager from the Scout community. All the regulars squeeze in amongst that lot to deliver a lengthy wake-up call.

    In honor of NCAA March Madness here, would like to try something different in addition to our weekly Deadzone Drafts: FPL Bracketology GW 33-38

    The draft follows same usual rules:
    Each owner picks 4 players for no more than 25m, at least one each Def/Mid/Fwd. SINGLE OWNERSHIP, once the player is picked nobody else can draft him as well. First come, first served.

    As soon as we get 16 teams in this thread, I will set up brackets in which all 64 of our selected players will face off in an NCAA style tournament. I will make sure to seed them in order by FPL points, and put each of our players in four regions so we don't have our own players go up against each other. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, think of a tennis tournament's draw.

    Scoring will be simple -- whichever player scores higher advances to the next round/GW and plays on. Blanks, benchings, DGWs, all should factor into your decisions. In case of a tie, the higher ranked (FPL points) player will advance.

    It looks like TW, Zep, Waitakere, Canadian Football, No Association, Messimerized, Laernu, TM245, Acquafresca, hopefully Pepin are in for the DZ March Madness Bracket Draft so far, which means we are well on our way. As others post I will slot them in as long as we have room up to 16, but the above owners are definitely in and can post squads in this thread.

    Posted on here last night. Zep or TW, one of you needs to part with Berbatov. Wish I could flip a coin...

        I'd only do a hit for Mertesacker I think because he's as nailed on as you get. I reckon Sagna might be in the picture...my secret hope is actually that Sagna regains his place so he can be worth a punt for the DGW...4.6m is a bargain and he might produce some assists.

            yeah true, the problem is I reckon there is still a bit to monitor about the Arsenal defence...I'd much prefer Monreal/Sagna because they'd offer some extra bang for your buck so to speak 😀

            I'd love to live a little but I can't help but feel it's a silly idea to take a 4 point hit when I can just play Dawson. Say Dawson gets 2 points, well I'd have to hope Mertesacker gets a CS to just match that...which is very possible but is it worth that risk for the same result?

            Of course it'd be Davies I'd get rid of but Mertesacker coming in would mean I'd bench Dawson.

            Was planning to go Ruddy-Bunn; then realized that Norwich had 4 keepers. 😆

            So I just went for Foster for sheer ability (Mignolet has awful fixtures) and the future DGW. Foster and Boruc rotate perfectly as well. Basically I didn't want to worry about my keepers anymore going forward; wanted to focus on the DGWs.

            Honestly; what gave me inspiration to take that massive hit was your post saying "I think I'll take a -8 for a laugh." 😆

            I remember reading it when I was on vacay. Damn you.

    For my 3 captaincy choices I did a bit of crude maths based on their recent respective home/away forms (last 5 games) and got the following figures;

    Cazorla - 5.2pp(home)g
    Suarez - 5.6pp(away)g
    Bale - 9.6pp(away)g

    Whilst this doesn't factor in opposition per say, I think it's helping me lean towards Bale as my captain for this week.

            I'm in the same boat with Punch, Billy, and that's what I'm coming round to. If I get Maloney I'll probably want to swap him for a dg weeker immediately so it's just a waste of a transfer and -4 points. Discretion seems to be the better part of valour this week but it's really frustrating.

            I want Punchy out yet I have no idea who to replace him with.

        Yep. I'm toying with Punch > Maloney but it's such an uninspiring transfer even though they'll have a double down the road. Maloney hasn't scored in double figures all season and Wigan share the goals around too unpredictably.
