With the finishing line in sight, things are getting fidgety at the top of the Scout Leagues as our top community players give chase for the overall crown. We namecheck the protagonists, check on the recent trends in the transfer market and check in with Fenners and Merse ahead of tonight’s fixture with the Fantasy Football Club.

The Scout League

Chris Pearce remains lodged at the top of the Scout League, although his lead has been cut considerably by Paul McAnulty, who closes in second. Chris’ “UtakaDefoeKingPearce” squad has a 13-point advantage over Paul’s “Housewives Favourite” lineup. Simon Davies’ “Nags Head Rovers” remain in third, although they are being chased hard by a twin Pascal Evans assault, as his “Covport” squads sit fourth and fifth.

As our leader, Chris Pearce is currently our biggest hope to threaten for the Sky Sports crown and the top prize of £25k. Chris sits in third place overall but is some 85 points behind Simon Ward, who has occupied top spot for months without looking likely to relinquish the position. It’s rapidly getting to the stage where some inspiration and armband risks look to be the only means of clawing back his advantage.

With six managers in the overall top 20 rankings, the Scout League remains the top Private League on show with a 10 point advantage over our nearest rival.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can still sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519. We have a home cinema system, worth £600, available to the winner.

Market Trends

The blank in the defeat at Southampton has instantly dented confidence in Luis Suarez. With the Uruguayan just one booking from a two-match ban, it seems that some Sky Sports managers are looking to trade in, turning their attentions back to United’s Robin Van Persie.

While Suarez was brought in as part of 22% of transfers this week, he was sold on as part of over 28% – a first ownership decline for several weeks. By contrast, Van Persie’s popularity has picked up over the last seven days, despite scoring just once in his last six league appearances. The Dutchman was transferred in as part of 31% of the trades made and sold as part of 24%.

Those two Golden Boot contenders continue to be critical to fortunes in this game, dominating the transfer activity and also the captaincy figures. Van Persie went into Gameweek 30 with the armband from 23% of the managers in the game, with Suarez claiming 9% – Eden Hazard was next on 6.7%, with Wayne Rooney on 4.4%.

While the forwards market remains volatile, the goalkeeper position continues to be problematic with the likes of Pepe Reina, Tim Howard and Asmir Begovic all amongst the top transferred out off the back of recent injuries, or a drop in form in Begovic’s case. Money is now being spent in this area, with David De Gea, Petr Cech and Joe Hart all enjoying increased transfer interest this week ahead of the run-in. The United stopper is the form player amongst this batch, earning 21 points in the last four Gameweeks.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

Sir Trevor Brooking will honour the Fantasy Football Club dressing room with his presence tonight, the former West Ham pass-master will be joining Fenners and Merse from 10pm on Sky Sports One.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Well I've done pretty well considering I was very gung-ho with transfers early on. I tended to take too many risks with it to balance a more cautious FPL approach. Now I'm just as cautious in Sky as I'm low on transfers.

The game has issues, mainly with the interface on the site and I do think the keepers need save points.

It's potentially a very solid game though and, having broke the top 100 at one point, I'm definitely going to take it on next season with even more care.

We undoubtedly have players in our community who can be up there with the top players every season and, if they make some of the changes they've mentioned, then I think we'll go on support it and running the league.

Should I bring in Santi Cazorla for Walcott? – even though I’d want both for DGW33

    DDG (sun)
Demel (WBA) Davies (TOT) Turner (wig)
Sissoko (mnc) Bale (swa) Mata (sot) Michu (TOT)
Benteke (LIV) RVP (sun) Lambert (CHE)

Subs: Federici (ars – inj) Cameron (eve) Mariappa (ars) Walcott (REA – inj)

Even with bringing in Santi, with 1 hit, I will have 6 or 7 DGWers (depending on whether United or Chelsea win the replay).

With Santi am I good to go? And who to captain?

    Cheers! 🙂

I fear my comment will be lost in the last post 😉

That would take a hit. I might as well bring in Cazorla for Walcott then, and take the hit to bring in Walcott for the DGW. I'm going to WC during GW35 or GW36 whenever the Spurs vs Chelsea/United vs Stoke and City vs West Brom DGW's are, so I can bring in Maloney (or Wigan coverage) for DGW36 then.

Hey man, im back on the early WC wagon as I realized the single GW players that complete my team for GW 33 would be useless if CHE has a DGW. Would like Che and EVE mids over a guy like Siss.
      😀
Currently taking a punt on Aguero and any mid in for Rooney and Walcott and 1 transfer to bring in either BA, Suarez, or Hazard for next week.

😀 What I;d say is wait and see then, would you be in the same position of United had the double?

Most of my single GW players will have doubles at some point (Zaba, Lamps/Rooney etc)

I've decided on Jussi as my keeper and I'll take Reither if Chelsea lose and Azpi if United lose

I'll be set up to have 8 DGWers for 33 and using transfers to get to 10 for 36

Im thinking even if United have a DGW I would rather keep Bale or and Mata cause they will have the double soon over Sess who will need to have a transfer spent on later on, even though I thin he could rip Sun a new one. The Aguero article affected me a lot I must add, he has cost me a lot of points this season cause it was always him over Suarez, now it is time for him to repay me 😀 I checked his stats as well. Very much underperformed every third shot on goal is a goal this season while last season it was every second. I really am a sucker for a differential.

If Chelsea win I'll try to find a way to keep Bale, if United win he's gone.

I will be getting Aguero but later on down the track

Rooney, Giroud and Berba in GW33 for me

I have Joel Robles as my second GK. Worth a cheeky punt and start him ahead of DDG? Wigan play Norwich at home and the Canaries look unable to score.

Joel Robles is on my radar (I have no playing keeper right now). It's him or Mucha. I wouldn't start him ahead of DDG though - Sunderland aren't exactly dynamite either.

Guys y gals - happy Easter.

Just noticed I am 13 pts off the pace in 4th for a manager of the month comp (£30 prize money!).
So just this gameweek to overhaul 13 pts.
Leader has made 2 transfers. I don't really rate any of the teams above me (isn't that always the way?)

I don't think this really affects what I want to do. But it does sort of make me more inclined to do that Oxlade-Chamberlain in and (c) punt.
Would it affect what you did in that position?

It's also making me want to take a punt on someone like Baines - my defence is really sh*t this week.
      Monreal | Davies | Clyne

      Walcott > Ox(c)
      Debuchy > Baines
      Bunn > Mucha

      -8pts

An Everton cleanie and a Chamberlain goal or more *could* put me top for Manager of the month in my ML.

Not keen on the Ox (c) punt.

If he starts he'll get 70 mins at best and Arsenal are notoriously slow starters this season. Most the action comes in the second half.

I'm actually considering transfering a keeper

    Mign -> Schwarzer?

    Mignolet / Federici
    Clyne / Wilson / Dawson / Zabaleta / Hill
    Cabaye / Bale / Michu / Walcott / Maloney
Sturridge / Suarez / Van Persie

2 FT, £1.1m in the bank.

Baring in mind Cazorla and Lampard are going up in price tonight, what should I do (I already used my FT on Berbatov)?:

    A: Stick with Mata
    B: Mata --> Cazorla for a hit
C: Mata --> Lampard for a hit (downgrading so next week I can do Michu --> Cazorla)

Hearing yesterday's Scoutcast was like an analysis of my own team, considering that I've taken a single hit so far and still have the wildcard.

I kind of found myself aggreeing when M & G were saying how boring it must be. I think about Fantasy Football ALL THE TIME and yet I only actually do anything once a week, at most!
