Everton scrape past Stoke courtesy of a wonderful solo strike by Kevin Mirallas. The Toffees produce a second clean sheet in succession but for their visitors, there was little reason to be cheerful. Here’s the Stock Check from Saturday’s final encounter…

On the Up

Kevin Mirallas
The Belgian grabbed the only goal of the game as Everton registered a third straight victory, following wins over Reading and City at Goodison. Mirallas has now scored or assisted in each of his last three at home and has now started six of the last seven – while he offers potential for double Gameweek 33, his propensity for picking up injuries will always be a concern; he limped off clutching his thigh with 10 minutes left on the clock.

The Everton Defence
David Moyes was boosted by the return of Tim Howard and Phil Jagielka after recent back and ankle injuries respectively. Tonight’s 1-0 win saw the Toffees register back-to-back clean sheets for only the second time this term, having kept out City in the previous Gameweek – with QPR, Fulham and West Ham their final three visitors, their chances of further defensive points at home look strong.

Leighton Baines
With Marouane Fellaini and Steven Pienaar suspended, David Moyes solved his midfield dilemma by intriguingly rolling out a 3-5-2. This afforded Leighton Baines license to patrol the left flank in an even more advanced position than normal, with Seamus Coleman on the opposite wing, but with a trip to Tottenham next, it remains to be seen whether Moyes will risk operating with a three-man backline.

Going Down

Stoke Defence
Owners of Asmir Begovic and co were left disappointed after the Potters failed to keep out their opponents once again. While Tony Pulis aren’t giving too much away – they’ve conceded more than one goal just once in the last seven – it’s a single clean sheet in 13 now for Stoke. Marc Wilson’s 3.9 price tag and security of starts may be enough to persuade his owners to hold, though, particularly with three home matches in the next four.

The Stoke Attack
Going forward, Stoke are even less impressive. Their blank at Goodison means they have scored just once in the last five Gameweeks, with a recent shift to 4-4-2 making little difference to their attacking potential – struggling at both ends of the pitch, they are just four points clear of third-bottom Villa, having played a game more than Paul Lambert’s side. Villa are next to the Britannia in what looks to be a vital encounter.

Bonus Predictions – Courtesy of the Bap Chap

Sunderland 0 Man United 1 – Van Persie 3, Vidic 2, Young 1 (in the mix Carrick, Buttner, Smalling)
Arsenal 4 Reading 1 – Gervinho 3, Cazorla 2, Arteta 1 (in the mix Mariappa) (top 2 very tight)
Man City 4 Newcastle 0 – Silva 3, Clichy 2, Kompany 1 (extremely tight)
Southampton 2 Chelsea 1 – Rodriguez 3, Lambert 2, Terry 1 (in the mix S.Davis)
Swansea 1 Tottenham 2 – Vertonghen 3, Bale 3, Sigurdsson 1 (the 1 is very low and open)
West Ham 3 West Brom 1 – Carroll 3, O’Neil 2, Collins 1
Wigan 1 Norwich 0 – Kone 3, Beausejour 2, Alcaraz 1 (very low and open behind Kone, no gimmes)
Everton 1 Stoke 0 – Mirallas 3, Jelavic 2, Distin 1 (in the mix Gibson)

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Utd's next three fixtures could be - che, MCI, mci - if they beat Chelsea, correct?

Could destroy City's season seven days 😯

Last year still hurts them bad. Would go someway to reaching closure.....but I actually reckon City might turn them over again.

For some reason I'm still not convinced.

Injury worries and form and Jenks might rule me out.

May just stay clear of all defenders in the DGW.....

i'd say only an arsenal defender for dgw looks a good option

Sagna is a steal at that price and I am convinced he'll play the remaining run in.

Arsenal doesn't have any other competiton except CL spot, Wenger will field the strongest team possible week by week.

So Snr Suarez, we need a goal, an assist, 3bps and a YC.

That's eminently achievable for him, however I fear he'll now go the next two without a YC and then have Reading away for the DGW33 😯

Only thing I would recommend is a bit of preparation for the DGW, especially if you're in a tight H2H league. Spread hits over two weeks rather than one, if you plan to take them.....

        Thanks Jaf.

Interesting point on the H2H bit. On that note, the reason I am planning to do nothing (or at least I haven't done anything yet) is the fact that I haven't decided on whether to drop Mata for the potential DGW. The plan was to save the FT for a DGW striker in for Benteke, or Suarez if he picks up the 10th yellow.

On the H2H note, the rival I am chasing only has Evra, Monreal and Michu (to my Bale, Enrique and Cazorla) as his potential big hitters that are different to mine. On the DGW prep, I currently have Caz, Walc, Fellaini, RVP/Mata and Giroud/Berba penned in so far. You think I should be greedy and target more?

I would wait until we see the result of Che v Utd cup game tomorrow (as one will miss out on the DGW) and Stoke or Spurs will have a blank in 33 before planning anything.

There is a big swing of plans between to two scenarios and ain't worth the effort....

Agreed. Waiting for the Che/Mnu game. Hence the "no transfer" move this week. Was just a tad worried due to Walcott/Mata possibly not playing and Boruc injured 🙁

Age,myth abt int'l strikers who are not successful because they lack pace and

Ah ok. Well, your front 8 seems really, really good atm, so I would do the Fellaini move early to free up funds, and then move for Sagna. With Sagna you would then have 3 playing defenders, so you wouldn't have to worry too much anymore.

    Morning guys,

I was all set to wildcard (well, after tomorrow's games) but looking at my team it looks like I can wait another week.

All set if I just do Bunn -> Robles?

    Robles
    Enrique - Mertesacker - Davies
    Cazorla - Sissoko - Michu - Bale
    Lambert - RVP - Sturridge

    Jussi - Walcott - Shaw - Zabaleta

Ruddy was nowhere near the bench this week and Bunn will be back in the next one.
Save your keeper transfer and instead spend it on another DGW33 player.

You have a wildcard and that means you can get your team of choice in DGW36
          and then bring in Robles.

Well I'd go with Pearce out first, but Davies seems to be the one to go first because you can downgrade him to free cash. Oh wait didn't see the 3.7m you were hiding under the bed 😛 Why not do 2 DGW defender transfers then? You can always downgrade Mata to Fellaini later for more funds

I'm thinking Onuoha out first as he isn't playing, probably to Sagna, but it all depends on the result of the FA Cup replay as to which way my team moves.

I see. Yea makes more sense to wait for the United/Chelsea game, although I can't imagine you moving for a Chelsea defender. Might as well make the Sagna move before he rises in price or something

No, but the result shapes the changes I make to my front 8. It is for this reason I haven't dealt with Puncheon yet, as Maloney seems a good replacement but if Chelsea have the DGW then my midfield will likely be Santi Walcott Mata Hazard Fellaini so I'd have to ditch him almost immediately if this happened. The 2FTs this week will help though.

Alright point taken. I'm just wondering whether it would be worth it for the "loss of value" in Bale. Who would you bench if you had that front 7? Sturridge?

To me I'd personally keep Bale (Blank or not) due to the fact that he's a real constraint for me in terms of who to bench for the week. It locks up a bit of value for my case I guess, and perhaps you'd need the money more, but I can see you dropping Suarez (who is on 9 yellows btw) for a Berbatov or something to fund the midfield you mentioned (but Bale instead of Hazard/Mata, say)
