[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

The FA have this afternoon announced Luis Suarez will be banned for 10 games following Sunday’s biting incident with Branislav Ivanovic at Anfield. Suarez had accepted a violent misconduct charge yesterday but had argued against this being extended beyond the standard three matches – an Independent Regulatory Commission met earlier today and has subsequently added a further seven games onto the standard suspension.

The FA have confirmed Suarez has until midday this coming Friday to appeal the additional seven matches, though, while in a statement on the club’s official website, managing director Ian Ayre would only say:

“Both the club and player are shocked and disappointed at the severity of today’s Independent Regulatory Commission decision. We await the written reasons tomorrow before making any further comment.”

Unless he successfully appeals, then, this means Suarez will play no further part in the current domestic campaign and brings a bitter end to a season that has seen him flourish under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool. The Uruguayan is second only to Robin Van Persie for goals scored, with 23 strikes to the United forward’s 24 – the Golden Boot now looks safe for Van Persie, with Gareth Bale (18) his nearest challenger now.

While the Dutchman’s game time over the remainder of the season is perhaps in question by some – given that Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have the title sewn up – Suarez’s absence for the first six games of next season merely heightens Van Persie’s importance to our Fantasy squads when 2013/14 gets underway. For Liverpool, Daniel Sturridge will now be afforded the chance to lead the line over the final four fixtures this term and the first six games next time round – the Reds’ remaining matches hands them trips to Newcastle and Fulham, in addition to home showdowns with Everton and QPR.

Indeed, the clash with Harry Redknapp’s side makes Sturridge a viable captaincy contender and at just 6.6 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) right now, is a more than budget-friendly alternative for those Fantasy managers shopping around for a Suarez replacement. With a double Gameweek 36 for six other sides, though, plenty will be looking elsewhere as our three man frontlines are quickly restructured for the final sprint over the last few matches.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Ok bare with me here guys put yourself in Alex Ferguson shoes and what would you do in his position who do you see as a greater threat long term Arsenal or Chelsea? no doubt in my mind that he sees Chelsea as a greater threat to United long term. Taking this into consideration if i were him i would rest and rotate for the upcoming Arsenal game and field my best 11 to do my best to scupper Chelseas chances of making the CL spots anyone with me on this?

I believe there's a feeling of wrong racial perception in the past 20+ years.
Don't talk that often on the topic, but nowadays it's become really really annoying to see double standards all the way.
Is it quite odd that "Society of BLACK Lawyers" hit out at Tottenham fans for using the term ‘Yid’ in their match day chants?!
Imagine the institution of "Society of WHITE Lawyers" in today's world and how would it be seen in mass media..?

Just to clarify,I am 100% antifascist, and because of the values I stand for,I believe we should at least be careful about racially specified groups or individuals if they advocate "equality" regarding to this matter.

I'm also absolutely sure that everyone would have noticed if Suarez had "bitten" >black< prosthetic arm (would probably crucify him),whereas for Evra doing it with the white one it's just a foolish teasing.

I believe we seriously need to rethink and discuss the matter as it's gone way to far.

Of course not buddy.that's the point.
        No racial motives included whatsoever!
But it should be the same at both sides.

Was going to do De Gea to Hart and Suarez to Defoe this week (for a four point hit), then Distin to Kompany, Wilson to Ivanovic and Rooney to Kone next week (for an eight point hit). That would give me ten for the double – Hart, Kompany, Ivanovic, Davies, Michu, Bale, Mata, Maloney, Kone and Defoe. Worth the hits? This minileague is all I’m interested in really, but I want to win by as much as I can. At the moment my nearest, and only real, rival has four for the double – Zabaleta, Azpilicueta, Vorm and Davies.

Interesting. I would be tempted to make the move this week if your squad isn't well set up for GW 35. As long as you choose a team with the rest of the season (and GW 36) in mind, you may well overtake him this week.

If you look good for this week, though ... you may need the element of surprise next week. But then again ... who will be surprised by Bale, Vert, Tevez, Hart/Robles/Foster, Kone, Defoe, Kompany, Maloney ... your teams will probably end up pretty similar next week in any event.

I think I'm talking myself into you doing it this week, but making sure you field maximum double game weekers for GW 36. Hopefully giving you two free transfers in GW 37 to set up for the last two.

I made that move today. Decent fixture this week and it'll pay back in the DGW and you won't have to worry about him for the rest of the season.

Fixtures debatable I guess. 1.3m saving not. Kone better PPG than Defoe. Also he's clearly the best Wigan attacking option. Instead of Defoe you could have Dempsey, Lennon or even Ade along with Bale for attacking coverage.

With Defoe and Lennon back do we know which one of Ade, Dempsey or Siggy will play?

PPG is down to Defoe coming off the bench many times(check points per minute)

Fixtures equally good IMO and both fighting for something.

Thing about Defoe is that he is really really selfish. And in Wigan you have Maloney and Jordi Gomez - if you look at stats from past games than neither is much worse than Kone.

I could be totally wrong though, but I think the case is that Defoe is better when starting, the risk is that you dont know if he will and if you dont need risk than go Kone.

That's kind of why his PPG are down though, specifically because he usually doesn't start. Ade has been poor for most of the season but AVB continues to pick him and that's largely because he can hold the ball up and enable their better players to get involved.

As you point out re Defoe, all he basically offers is the odd goal. You are unlikely to get too many assists with him and I just think he's too expensive to be that one dimensional.

I hope I'm proved right in a few weeks 🙂

Opinions on my WC team for this week please...

    Hart, Robles
    Vertonghen, Dawson, Figueroa, Sagna, Clyne
Bale, Yaya, Michu, Lampard, Townsend (if fit)
    Tevez, Kone, RVP

Would give me 10 DGWers plus RVP for GW36.
