Christian Benteke inspires a superb display of attacking football from Villa that blows away a bewildered Black Cats, dragging them into the relegation scrap as Stephane Sessegnon sees red. Here’s the Stock Check on Monday night’s events.

On the Up

Christian Benteke
A stunning hat-trick from the hugely impressive Belgian forever scribed his name in Villa folklore and left his faithful Fantasy owners beaming. Benteke has arguably been the signing of the season, registering 18 goals that have almost single-handedly kept Villa afloat. His consistency in a struggling side is quite extraordinary: Benteke has now struck 13 goals in his last 15 league starts, returning incredible value having started the season priced at just 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Matt Lowton
While Benteke will, quite rightly, take the plaudits, Lowton’s recent performances from right-back deserve recognition. Tonight’s assist was his third in six league matches, a spell which also brought that stunning strike in the 3-1 win at Stoke. Villa’s survival this season will assure Lowton of a place on our pre-season watchlist for next term.

Gabby Agbonlahor
Whilst, inevitably playing second fiddle to the mighty Benteke, Agbonlahor has produced some stunning recent form that have boosted Villa and directly translated into hefty Fantasy profit. Tonight’s goal and brace of assists ensured that Agbonlahor has returned attacking points in five of his last six starts, with four goals and three assists in that spell.

Going Down

Stephane Sessegnon
A straight red for violent conduct brought the Benin international’s recent run of form to an abrupt end and was perhaps the biggest blow to Sunderland on a miserable evening. The spark in Sunderland’s recent revival under Paolo Di Canio, unless there is a successful appeal, Sessegnon will miss the remainder of the season. His Fantasy owners will now be pushed to get rid to swap for double Gamweek assets, while Di Canio will have to hope that he has the attacking resources to compensate for the loss.

Simon Mignolet
Di Canio’s rearguard simply had no answer to the pace and industry of Villa’s flanking forwards, whilst they buckled under the presence of Benteke. Having kept back-to-back clean sheets, tonight’s damaging defeat is ill-timed. Sunderland could yet be lured into the relegation scrap, although with home fixtures against Stoke and Southampton to come, Mignolet and his defence have the opportunity to rediscover their resolve.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So, my keepers are Jaaskelainen(NEW) and Begovic(sun).
    Two prospective cleanies, especially Jaaskelainen.
Still get Hart for a hit?

I have to say that i believe if nani stays at united then he will have an influential season next year. I dont believe that he will be happy staying at united if he is not assured a place in the team, and the year before last when nani had an injury free and mostly uninterrupted season he was excellent.

Unfortunately I cannot see Sunderland going down now even though they will not get many more points if any

    Stoke - draw or loss
    South - loss
    Spurs - loss

    final points 37-38

    Wigan

    Swansea - draw
    Arsenal - loss
Villa - draw or win (desperate)

    final points 34-36

If they could win against Swansea and nick something from Arsenal they have a chance...

Personally i think that wig/mci are the only defenses worth taking a hit for on the dgw. If you have swn/wba then hold, but to take a hit for che/tot is very brave. I took a hit to get hart in last week, was absolutely throwing things at the tv when hart failed at the end...

    Morning guys,

23 points behind in my mini league.

Time to take a captain punt on Aguero instead of Bale?

No. There are still 2 gameweeks to come after the double. 23 points isn't huge - betting against Bale is too risky imo.

    Good morning to all 🙂
I must say, great GW for me : Y.Toure was great pick, along with Bale (C) and last night Benteke hat-trick. So, for upcoming GW I hope to take the lead from my rivals. My team is :

    Migs
    Bertrand-Zab-Davies
    Michu-Mata-Bale-Yaya
    RVP-Lukaku-Benteke
subs : Fabianski, Sissoko, R.Martin and Baines.

I used my FT to buy Lukaku (for Mirallas) and now I only need an advice from you lads, what is the best thing to do :
    1) Fabianski -> Cech ( 0.1 short for Hart + Zab is enough for MC def cover) ?
    2) Bertrand or Davies -> A.Cole (because SWA def is terrible since they've won Carling Cup and Bertrand is not 100% sure to start since they are playing with MU and TOT)
    3) Do both
    4) Do nothing and leave it like this.

Cheers and good luck to all in upcoming DGW madness 😀

fantastic score to your squad also 🙂

But whom to pick from these two ? I'm leaning to Bertrand, that would be 95% (because you never know with Benitez) sure 8 dgw players.

I would pick Bunn over DDG, because I think NOR-STK will be friendly 0-0 + Chelsea must win both games if they want to keep 3rd position. Rest of the squad looks great.

    Hi everyone,

Having some difficulty weighing if it’s worth taking a -4 hit doing a swap from Enrique to:

    a) Vert
    b) Zab
    c) Do nothing

Rest of the defense is Demel, Clyne, Sagna, Harte, none of which are DGW-ers

Thanks for your suggestions/comments in advance!

Who do you believe are the best three striker to have for the DGW?

    In my opinion,

    Aguero
    Lukaku
    Kone

crazy conundrum for me here : Toure or Nasri?

Nasri's form seems better (though not by far), but Toure is rotation-proof...

    What do you think?

Nasri, more explosive and seems to have found some form ever since his bust-up with Berto

I don't agree on toure not being a rotation risk, the risk is there considering he sometimes plays deep in midfield giving no returns.

Hey guyz. Need your help. 12 points ahead in my ML.

    Fediric, de Gea
Evra, Demel, Sagna, Harte, Martin R
    Maloney, Michu, Townsend, Hazard, Bale
    Kone, Van Persie, Tevez

0 FT 1.2 in the bank.

Anymore transfers needed? Already did Berba >> Kone.

That would require Wigan getting 8pts from their final 4 games, and turning over a 13 goal deficit...

              Not gonna happen IMO...
