Christian Benteke inspires a superb display of attacking football from Villa that blows away a bewildered Black Cats, dragging them into the relegation scrap as Stephane Sessegnon sees red. Here’s the Stock Check on Monday night’s events.

On the Up

Christian Benteke
A stunning hat-trick from the hugely impressive Belgian forever scribed his name in Villa folklore and left his faithful Fantasy owners beaming. Benteke has arguably been the signing of the season, registering 18 goals that have almost single-handedly kept Villa afloat. His consistency in a struggling side is quite extraordinary: Benteke has now struck 13 goals in his last 15 league starts, returning incredible value having started the season priced at just 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Matt Lowton
While Benteke will, quite rightly, take the plaudits, Lowton’s recent performances from right-back deserve recognition. Tonight’s assist was his third in six league matches, a spell which also brought that stunning strike in the 3-1 win at Stoke. Villa’s survival this season will assure Lowton of a place on our pre-season watchlist for next term.

Gabby Agbonlahor
Whilst, inevitably playing second fiddle to the mighty Benteke, Agbonlahor has produced some stunning recent form that have boosted Villa and directly translated into hefty Fantasy profit. Tonight’s goal and brace of assists ensured that Agbonlahor has returned attacking points in five of his last six starts, with four goals and three assists in that spell.

Going Down

Stephane Sessegnon
A straight red for violent conduct brought the Benin international’s recent run of form to an abrupt end and was perhaps the biggest blow to Sunderland on a miserable evening. The spark in Sunderland’s recent revival under Paolo Di Canio, unless there is a successful appeal, Sessegnon will miss the remainder of the season. His Fantasy owners will now be pushed to get rid to swap for double Gamweek assets, while Di Canio will have to hope that he has the attacking resources to compensate for the loss.

Simon Mignolet
Di Canio’s rearguard simply had no answer to the pace and industry of Villa’s flanking forwards, whilst they buckled under the presence of Benteke. Having kept back-to-back clean sheets, tonight’s damaging defeat is ill-timed. Sunderland could yet be lured into the relegation scrap, although with home fixtures against Stoke and Southampton to come, Mignolet and his defence have the opportunity to rediscover their resolve.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Now that Wigan are in deep do-do and need two wins does that make Boyce more attractive for the DGW and will he even be OOP after Wigan's injury woes increased at the weekend...?

    ROBLES
    ZABALETA---DAWSON---baines
    MICHU---BALE---MALONEY---walcott
    TEVEZ---benteke---rvp

Ok this is my conundrum -

    A) Do I get Nasri for Fellaini for a -4pt hit and bench RVP
    B) Get Aguero for RVP for a -4pt hit and bench Fellaini
    C) Save it

    Team:

    DDG
    Baines - Zabaleta* - GJ
    Michu* - Bale* - Mata* - Maloney*
    RVP - Lukaku* - Defoe*

    Subs: Federici, Fellaini, Davies, Pearce

    Cheers! 😀

Could always bring Nasri in and bench Michu... 😯

I have the same predicament - I really want one of Nasri/Haz but I was always set on Maloney for Townsend and benching Fell. If I brought Nasri/Haz in I would have to bench Wally or VP. Not the most appetising proposition.

See that is also my predicament... What's your team? Seems pretty dumb to bench VP or Wally as is my problem... I reckon the DGW is getting to our heads... 🙂 We should probably just save our transfers and play them...

              Alright mate 🙂

              DDG

              Zab Jose Enrique Sagna

              Bale Mata Theo Fell

              VP Tev Lukaku

              Bunn Clyne Townsend Pearce

The thing is I do like Maloney and I would like to get rid of Townsend but obviously there's the threat of Nasri/Haz doing much more. Maloney would give me a bit more balance. It's a toughie - tempted to do the Maloney transfer for -4 and leave it as that.

DDG > Joe Hart for -4?

Looking at Man City's fixtures I'm very tempted by this. My other keeper is Bunn though, so I could play Bunn this weekend and DDG for the last two. Opinions on which move is better?

I've already used my free transfer to take out Remy for Kone.

Which TWO would you play from these:

    a. Sagna(qpr)
    b. Baines(liv)
    c. Mirallas(liv)
    d. Fellaini(liv)

I'm thinking A and B because QPR haven't scored in 3 games, but it would mean a 442 and benching Mirallas and Fellaini.

Selling Baines for Kolarov has got to be the riskiest move ever. But, there's only 3 weeks to go and I'd expect Kolarov to start GW37 v Reading.

For those considering Van Persie out for Aguero.

    RVP - CHE SWA wba

Aguero - swa WBA (FA Cup) rdg NOR

Van Persie is likely to start at least 2 of those 3, while assuming Aguero plays in the FA Cup final, i think he'll start the Swansea and Norwich game and either WBA or Reading.
